Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: The Perceptive Matsuzaka Ume

After looking around, Kobayashi Itsuki finally reached out and pointed toward the direction of the Sunflower Class.

"Then let Bo perform for everyone!"

For something like this, it was naturally best to find someone cooperative and likely to yield a green treasure chest.

Bo was a very good choice.

Although the chosen Bo had his usual lack of expression, it was clear from his eyes that he was quite excited.

"I, I will perform Snot Sculpting for everyone."

Saying this, under everyone's gaze, Bo reached out and grabbed the snot hanging from his face, beginning to pull it into various shapes.

One moment it was the Tokyo Tower, the next it was a jellyfish... Even though Kobayashi Itsuki had seen this scene when watching the anime previously, seeing it performed right in front of him was still quite astonishing.

As Bo finished his performance, Kobayashi Itsuki led the applause for Bo, then crouched down and gently wiped Bo's nose with a tissue.

"That was a great performance. Bo is a very capable child!"

Saying this, Kobayashi Itsuki took a small, finger-sized toy car out of his small satchel and presented it to Bo as a gift.

"This is the teacher's gift for you, Bo."

Bo took the toy car from Kobayashi Itsuki's hand, held it high above his head toward the sunlight, his face beaming with a bright smile.

"Bo~"

[Ding, Bo's favorability increased, obtaining green treasure chest *1.]

The system notification in his ear sounded simultaneously with the dismissal bell.

Obtaining another green treasure chest right before the class ended made Kobayashi Itsuki quite happy.

However, the exact total would have to wait until he returned later for a detailed count.

"Alright, today's physical education class is over. Everyone quickly line up according to your classes. The teachers will soon come to take you back."

Kobayashi Itsuki spoke gently, instructing the children to quickly line up.

In just a moment, the three teams had finished lining up.

Yoshinaga Midori and the others also walked out of the office.

"Teacher Kobayashi, thank you for your hard work."

After politely exchanging greetings, Yoshinaga Midori and Ageo Masumi took their respective classes back.

Only Matsuzaka Ume stayed behind. "Cheetah, take everyone back."

"Yes!"

Cheetah obediently carried out Matsuzaka Ume's order, leading the group of children back to the classroom without needing much supervision.

"Teacher Kobayashi, I read your work. It's really interesting."

Without the distraction of the children, Matsuzaka Ume looked at Kobayashi Itsuki and said with a beaming smile.

"Is that so? That's great."

"I only created it for the first time purely out of interest. If it can entertain the readers, then it's a success for me."

He naturally knew whether planetarian: the reverie of a little star was interesting or not, but what truly concerned him was the special preparation he made when leaving home this morning.

Using the novel as a topic, the two chatted and laughed.

After helping the three classes sort out their lunch, Kobayashi Itsuki was warmly invited by Matsuzaka Ume to eat with her class.

"Teacher Kobayashi, you've also worked hard. Why don't you eat with us in the Rose Class? The children will definitely be happy if they know I brought their favorite Teacher Kobayashi!"

Since Matsuzaka Ume had put it that way, Kobayashi Itsuki couldn't very well refuse. Besides, he was looking for an opportunity to boost her favorability toward him.

"Since Teacher Matsuzaka has said so, it would be impolite for me to refuse."

Seeing Kobayashi Itsuki agree, Matsuzaka Ume was exceptionally happy.

That morning, when she went to find Kobayashi Itsuki for class, she noticed something while he was tying his shoelaces.

The shoes Kobayashi Itsuki was wearing seemed unusual.

She just couldn't recall the specific details at the time.

Later in the office, she resisted the rare urge to bicker with Yoshinaga Midori, and after finishing Kobayashi Itsuki's novel, she focused on flipping through the fashion magazines she had bought.

Sure enough, she found that familiar feeling there.

It was a seasonal new product from a major brand, priced at 50,000 Japanese Yen.

50,000 Japanese Yen, which was one-fifth of a month's salary.

Converted to his previous life's currency, it was about 2,500 Dollar.

This price wasn't exactly expensive, but it wasn't cheap either.

After all, most sneakers are priced under 10,000.

Anything above 10,000 was considered mid-to-high end.

However, what Matsuzaka Ume valued more was that, while the shoes didn't necessarily prove how rich Kobayashi Itsuki was, their shared pursuit of fashion was quite similar.

This meant that the two of them had quite a few shared interests.

Of course, if he were rich, that would be even better.

He arrived at the Rose Class with Matsuzaka Ume.

Just as Matsuzaka Ume had said, the children in the class were very happy when they saw him.

Kobayashi Itsuki greeted the children with a smile, and he and Matsuzaka Ume began eating while chatting happily.

While eating, Matsuzaka Ume pretended to accidentally drop something on the floor, apologized, and bent down to pick it up.

After standing back up, she spoke with a hint of surprise.

"Teacher Kobayashi, are your shoes the seasonal new product from Mikawa? I really like that brand too!"

Hearing Matsuzaka Ume's words, Kobayashi Itsuki knew immediately that the fish had taken the bait.

"I think so. I didn't pay much attention when I bought them; they looked decent, so I got them. Does Teacher Matsuzaka study this sort of thing?"

Didn't pay attention?

Just bought them because they looked decent?

Hearing Kobayashi Itsuki's words, Matsuzaka Ume suddenly felt a surge of secret delight.

What Kobayashi Itsuki had just said about not paying attention was actually true.

After all, it was something he had gotten for free from the System, so of course, he wouldn't care much about it.

Moreover, he genuinely didn't know the brand or its monetary value.

Every word was sincere, without any falsehood.

Such sincere words conveyed only one meaning to Matsuzaka Ume.

That was: he wasn't short on money and didn't care about these things at all.

Although 50,000 Yen shoes weren't overly expensive, Matsuzaka Ume would need a lot of mental preparation before buying them herself.

After all, she had various living expenses; if she bought them, she would probably have to live frugally for the rest of the month.

Compared to her, Kobayashi Itsuki's financial situation was indeed much better, to say the least.

Seasonal new products, bought immediately just two days after release.

'Could it be that I'm actually going to find a deeply hidden rich person right here at the Kindergarten?'

Thinking this, Matsuzaka Ume's gaze toward Kobayashi Itsuki became increasingly fervent.

"I wouldn't call it research; I just like to look at fashion magazines and learn about outfits."

"Is that so? Then if there's a chance in the future, I must ask you for advice often. This is my weakest area."

Kobayashi Itsuki smiled readily, proactively giving Matsuzaka Ume a topic to continue the conversation.

"If Teacher Kobayashi wants to, of course, there's no problem."

"Right, speaking of which, I still don't know where Teacher Kobayashi is from..."
