Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: A Variant of the Harem Experience

This was clearly done by Ageo Masumi.

In the Kindergarten, she was probably the only one with such meticulousness.

Taking out the manuscript, Kobayashi Itsuki organized his thoughts and continued writing.

At this point, he was writing about the conflict and awkward stage between the ruins hunter, walking through the abandoned city, and Yumemi, the planetarium's robot commentator.

The ruins hunter, living in a world where order had long collapsed, couldn't understand the strange terms Yumemi used.

Nor did he understand the punchlines of Yumemi's jokes.

The wasteland and civilized society seemed to transform into two small miniatures, intertwined in their dialogue.

And this was precisely what was captivating, making people involuntarily want to know what kind of interesting collision would occur when two beings from completely different worlds met.

Kobayashi Itsuki tried to recall the plot in his mind, slowing down his movements as much as possible to ponder their dialogue.

He tried his best to write out the differences in their identities and their mutual lack of understanding.

Immersed in this contemplation, what awakened Kobayashi Itsuki again was the school dismissal bell.

Kobayashi Itsuki stretched, the second chapter was finally finished, and he could start writing the third chapter when he got home.

"I'm really diligent; it won't even take a month to finish this."

Kobayashi Itsuki was very satisfied with his current progress.

After all, this was handwritten, unlike typing on a computer.

"If I had been this diligent in my previous life, getting into Good University probably wouldn't have been a problem."

After praising himself with a smug grin, Kobayashi Itsuki put the manuscript back into the folder and then into his satchel.

Once tidied up, Kobayashi Itsuki went out to do the cleaning.

Actually, there wasn't much to do, just sweeping the yard and wiping down things like the rocking chairs.

While cleaning, the teachers from the three classes brought the children out to get on the kindergarten bus and go home.

Ageo Masumi, in front of so many people, was too embarrassed to talk to Kobayashi Itsuki, so she just nodded silently and left.

Teacher Matsuzaka, however, openly greeted Kobayashi Itsuki.

"You've worked hard, Teacher Kobayashi…"

While the two were talking, from the Rose Class line behind them, Cheetah was proudly showing off to the Sunflower Class.

"Teacher Kobayashi and our Teacher Matsuzaka have a great relationship; he especially likes our Rose Class. He even ate lunch with us and performed magic for Teacher Matsuzaka."

"How about that? Your Sunflower Class can't do that, can you?"

Cheetah's words immediately sparked an argument between the two classes.

They are children, after all, and no one wanted to lose.

Soon, the noise attracted the attention of Yoshinaga Midori and Teacher Matsuzaka.

"Oh ho ho, Cheetah is speaking the truth, isn't he?"

Teacher Matsuzaka looked proudly at Yoshinaga Midori, the meaning in her eyes obvious.

"Unlike some people, hmph hmph."

"What do you mean 'some people'? Teacher Matsuzaka!"

"Oh, I didn't mention any names. Some people shouldn't take it personally."

Matsuzaka Ume said in a sarcastic tone, and Yoshinaga Midori immediately became furious.

To each other, they were like gunpowder igniting a barrel of explosives; they'd blow up at the slightest touch.

Once the two started arguing, they completely disregarded everything else.

They stood directly at the entrance, bickering.

Seeing their almost 'ferocious' expressions, as if they had transformed, the children from the two classes who had just been bickering themselves stopped arguing.

They looked at them fearfully, and some of the more timid girls even had tears welling up in their eyes, looking as if they were about to cry.

Seeing this, Kobayashi Itsuki quickly comforted the group of children.

Once their emotions had somewhat stabilized, Kobayashi Itsuki turned to the bickering Yoshinaga Midori and Matsuzaka Ume, saying helplessly,

"Ladies, now is not the time to argue..."

However, it would have been better if Kobayashi Itsuki hadn't intervened; as soon as he got involved, Yoshinaga Midori immediately grabbed his arm.

"Teacher Kobayashi, you're coming to the Sunflower Class for lunch tomorrow, right!"

"Teacher Kobayashi, please come to the Rose Class instead, everyone here welcomes you!"

Matsuzaka Ume, not to be outdone, grabbed his other arm, and the two of them essentially trapped Kobayashi Itsuki, making it impossible for him to move, and putting him in an extremely difficult position.

Kobayashi Itsuki, caught in the middle, felt very helpless.

If this were a love triangle where two women were fighting over him, he might even feel a secret pleasure.

But now, that was absolutely not the case.

What should he do? Choosing either one would be wrong.

Not to mention, there were so many children watching.

Whichever he chose, the other side would be disappointed.

Seeing so many children disappointed, Kobayashi Itsuki was truly reluctant to do so.

But now... "Two teachers, how about..."

Kobayashi Itsuki still wanted to earnestly persuade them to stop quickly, to lay down their butcher knives and become Buddhas.

"Teacher Kobayashi!"

However, their words, spoken in unison, directly interrupted Kobayashi Itsuki.

Their beautiful eyes were both fixed on Kobayashi Itsuki's face, making him truly experience the taste of a so-called 'shura field'.

Just as Kobayashi Itsuki was in a dilemma, he looked up and saw a row of small heads peeking out from the kindergarten bus windows, half-faces curiously watching the scene.

These were the children from the Tulip class who had already boarded the bus.

And at the very front of this group of children, a face with thick glasses appeared in Kobayashi Itsuki's line of sight.

Seeing the person, Kobayashi Itsuki's eyes lit up.

How could he have forgotten Ageo Masumi?

Looking at Ageo Masumi with a hint of apology, Kobayashi Itsuki cleared his throat and said to Matsuzaka Ume and Yoshinaga Midori beside him: "Two teachers, I'm sorry."

"Actually, I've already promised Teacher Ageo from the Tulip class that I'll go to their class tomorrow. I'll only be able to go to the Sunflower Class the day after tomorrow."

'Eh?'

'Me?'

Ageo Masumi looked at Kobayashi Itsuki with some confusion, wondering if she had lost her memory.

When did this happen? How could she have no impression of it at all, completely forgetting such a thing?

"Ah? Is that, is that so?"

Hearing that Kobayashi Itsuki had already agreed to Ageo Masumi, Yoshinaga Midori was momentarily stunned and calmed down a bit.

If it weren't true, it wouldn't matter, but since someone else had already agreed, it would be truly impolite to insist.

And after calming down slightly, Yoshinaga Midori also realized her inappropriate behavior just now.

In traditional Japanese beliefs, it is always best not to trouble others, no matter the situation.

Now that she had calmed down, Yoshinaga Midori's face flushed visibly, as if she had a fever.

She had only known Kobayashi Itsuki for a few days, yet she had impulsively done such a thing.

"I, I'm sorry..."

Yoshinaga Midori looked at Kobayashi Itsuki, embarrassed beyond words, and awkwardly apologized to him.

And Matsuzaka Ume, on the other hand, was not in a much better state.
