Chapter 17 lunch
As I sat down at my desk, I couldn't shake off the feeling that Vihaan's eyes were still on me, watching my every move. I tried to focus on my work, but my mind kept wandering back to the confrontation in the hallway. What was wrong with him? Why was he being so possessive and controlling?
Just as I was starting to calm down, my phone buzzed with a message from Vihaan. "Come to my office. Now." My heart skipped a beat as I read the message. What did he want now? I took a deep breath and stood up, smoothing out my clothes. I wasn't going to let him intimidate me.
As I walked into his office, Vihaan looked up from his desk, his eyes piercing. "Close the door," he said, his voice low and commanding. I hesitated for a moment, but then did as he asked. What was he planning now?
The door clicked shut behind me, and Vihaan's eyes locked onto mine. "I think we need to clear up a few things, Janvi," he said, his voice dripping with intensity. "You seem to think you can just walk away from me, disobey me, and nothing will happen. But you're wrong."
My heart was racing now, but I stood my ground, my eyes locked on his. "I'm not afraid of you, Vihaan," I said, my voice steady. "And I won't be controlled."
Vihaan's eyes flashed with anger, and he stood up, his movements fluid and powerful. "We'll see about that," he said, his voice low and menacing. "We'll see just how much control you really have.
Vihaan's eyes locked onto mine, his gaze burning with intensity. "We'll see about that," he repeated, his voice low and menacing.
I stood my ground, my heart racing with anticipation and fear. But I refused to back down. I knew that if I showed weakness, Vihaan would pounce on it.
"You're not going to intimidate me, Vihaan," I said, my voice firm and steady. "I won't be controlled or manipulated. I'm my own person, and I'll make my own decisions."
Vihaan's eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched in anger. For a moment, I thought he might say something more, but then he turned and walked away, leaving me standing alone in his office.
I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding, my heart still racing with adrenaline. What just happened? And what was Vihaan's game? I knew one thing for sure - I wasn't going to let him push me around. I was going to stand up for myself, no matter what. The next day, I walked into the office, still feeling a bit apprehensive about the confrontation with Vihaan the day before. But as I approached my desk, I saw Vihaan standing there, looking relaxed and casual in his tailored suit. He caught my eye and nodded slightly, his expression unreadable.
I felt a flutter in my chest, but I didn't react. Instead, I walked past him and sat down at my desk, trying to focus on my work.
But Vihaan seemed to have other plans. "Janvi, can I talk to you for a minute?" he asked, his voice low and smooth.
I looked up at him, my expression neutral. "What is it, Vihaan?"
Vihaan smiled, a small, charming smile. "I'd like to apologize for my behavior yesterday. I was out of line, and I'm sorry."
I raised an eyebrow, surprised by the apology. "Apology accepted," I said, my voice cool.
But Vihaan wasn't done yet. "I'd like to make it up to you," he said, his eyes glinting with amusement. "How about lunch with me today?"
I hesitated, unsure of what to do. Part of me wanted to say no, to keep my distance from Vihaan. But another part of me was curious. What was he playing at?
"Okay," I said finally, my voice casual. "But just lunch."
Vihaan's smile grew wider. "Just lunch," he agreed, his eyes sparkling with amusement.
As we walked to the restaurant, I couldn't help but wonder what Vihaan's game was. Was he really sorry, or was this just another move in his game of cat and mouse? I was determined to find out.As we sat down at the restaurant, Vihaan leaned back in his chair, a relaxed smile on his face. "So, Janvi, tell me more about yourself," he said, his eyes sparkling with interest.
I raised an eyebrow, intrigued by the question. "What do you want to know?" I asked, my voice neutral.
Vihaan leaned forward, his eyes locked on mine. "I want to know what makes you tick," he said, his voice low and intense. "What drives you, what motivates you?"
I felt a shiver run down my spine as he spoke, his words sending a spark of electricity through me. But I wasn't going to let him get under my skin that easily. "I'm just a simple girl with simple goals," I said, my voice light and casual. "I work hard, I play hard. That's about it."
Vihaan's eyes narrowed, his gaze piercing. "I don't think that's all there is to you, Janvi," he said, his voice low and husky. "I think there's more to you than meets the eye."
I felt a flutter in my chest, but I kept my cool. "Maybe there is," I said, my voice neutral. "But you'll just have to keep wondering."
Vihaan's smile grew wider, his eyes glinting with amusement. "I'm looking forward to it," he said, his voice low and suggestive.
The tension between us was palpable, and I knew that this lunch was going to be a lot more than just a simple meal. It was going to be a battle of wits, a game of cat and mouse. And I was ready to play. Bring it on, Vihaan. Bring it on.I smiled sweetly, trying to maintain a carefree demeanor despite the flutter in my chest. "I'm a mystery wrapped in an enigma, Vihaan. You'll just have to figure me out," I said, my voice playful and teasing.
Vihaan's eyes crinkled at the corners as he chuckled, his gaze never leaving mine. "I'm always up for a challenge," he said, his voice low and husky. "And I have a feeling that figuring you out is going to be a very interesting experience."
I felt a shiver run down my spine at his words, but I kept my cool, my smile never wavering. "We'll see about that," I said, my voice light and airy.
As we continued our conversation, the tension between us grew thicker, like a palpable fog that hung in the air. But I wasn't afraid. I was intrigued. What was Vihaan really after? And what would happen if he found out the secrets I was keeping?
