Chapter 16 - chapter-16 jealousy 2.0

As I walked out of the meeting room, I felt a rush of adrenaline coursing through my veins. Presenting to the board of directors was a huge deal, and Vihaan knew it. He was pushing me to my limits, testing my skills and my resolve.

I spent the rest of the day preparing for the presentation, pouring over the reports and practicing my delivery. I was determined to knock it out of the park, to show Vihaan and the board that I was a force to be reckoned with.

As I worked, I couldn't help but think about Vihaan's behavior. Why was he being so tough on me? Was it just because of our past, or was there something more at play? I pushed the thoughts aside, focusing on the task at hand.

The next morning, I stood outside the boardroom, my heart pounding in my chest. I took a deep breath, smoothing out my clothes and mentally preparing myself for the presentation. Vihaan was already seated at the table, his eyes locked onto mine as I entered the room.

"Good morning, Janvi," he said, his voice cool and detached.

I nodded, my smile confident. "Good morning, Vihaan. Board members."

I launched into the presentation, my voice steady and clear. I could feel Vihaan's eyes on me, but I refused to let him intimidate me. I presented the reports with confidence and authority, answering questions and addressing concerns with ease.

As I finished the presentation, I felt a sense of pride and accomplishment. I had done it. I had faced my fears and come out on top.

The board members nodded and murmured among themselves, their faces serious. Vihaan's expression was inscrutable, but I could sense a hint of approval behind his eyes.

"Thank you, Janvi," one of the board members said, his voice firm. "You've done an excellent job. We'll be in touch soon to discuss the next steps."

I nodded, smiling, as I gathered my things. I had done it. I had passed the test.

As I left the boardroom, Vihaan fell into step beside me. "Well done, Janvi," he said, his voice low. "You're a natural."

I glanced at him, my eyes narrowing. "Thanks, Vihaan. I think."

He chuckled, a low, husky sound. "You're welcome, Janvi. Now let's get back to work. We have a lot to discuss."

I raised an eyebrow, my heart skipping a beat. What did he have planned next?As I walked back to my desk, I couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction. The presentation had gone well, and I'd impressed the board members. I was feeling confident and focused on the next steps.

Just as I was about to sit down at my desk, I saw Raj walking towards me, a big smile on his face. "Hey, Janvi! Congratulations on the presentation! I heard it was amazing," he said, his eyes shining with admiration.

I smiled, feeling a warmth in my chest. "Thanks, Raj! I was really nervous, but it went well, I think."

Raj nodded enthusiastically. "I'm sure it did. You're always so confident and capable. I'm not surprised you knocked it out of the park."

Just as Raj was about to continue, Vihaan appeared out of nowhere, his eyes blazing with anger. "Janvi, I need to see you in my office. Now," he said, his voice low and menacing.

I felt a surge of surprise and frustration. What was wrong with him now? "Raj was just congratulating me on the presentation, Vihaan," I said, trying to defuse the situation.

But Vihaan's expression didn't change. "I don't care who he is or what he's doing here. I need to see you. Now," he repeated, his voice dripping with venom.

Raj's eyes widened in understanding, and he took a step back. "I'll catch up with you later, Janvi. Good job again," he said, his voice friendly.

As Raj walked away, I felt a sense of unease. What was going on with Vihaan? Why was he being so possessive and controlling? I turned to Vihaan, my eyes flashing with anger. "What's going on, Vihaan? Why are you being like this?" I demanded, my voice low.

Vihaan's eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched. "You're mine, Janvi. You're working for me, and I won't have you fraternizing with other men like that," he said, his voice possessive and dominating.

I felt a surge of anger and resentment. How dare he? "I'm not yours, Vihaan. I'm my own person, and I'll talk to whoever I want," I said, my voice firm.

Vihaan's eyes flashed with anger, and for a moment, I thought he might say something more. But then, he turned and stalked back to his office, leaving me feeling frustrated and furious. What was wrong with him? And how was I going to deal with it?As Vihaan stormed back into his office, I stood my ground, my anger and frustration simmering just below the surface. How dare he try to dictate who I could and couldn't talk to? I was about to follow him, to demand answers and assert my independence, but Vihaan's sharp voice stopped me.

"Janvi, don't think about following me. You'll come when I call you," he growled, his words dripping with possessiveness.

I felt a surge of indignation at his tone, but I refused to back down. "I'll do no such thing, Vihaan. I'm not some possession of yours," I said, my voice firm and defiant.

Vihaan's eyes flashed with anger, and he spun around, his face inches from mine. "You're mine, Janvi. You're working for me, and you'll do as I say," he repeated, his voice low and menacing.

I could feel the heat emanating from his body, and for a moment, I felt a spark of fear. But I refused to back down, my determination and anger propelling me forward. "I don't belong to you, Vihaan. I belong to myself. And I won't be treated like some kind of possession," I said, my voice steady.

Vihaan's eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched in anger. "We'll see about that, Janvi," he said, his voice dripping with possessiveness. "You'll learn to obey me, one way or another."

I felt a shiver run down my spine at his words, but I stood my ground, my heart pounding in my chest. I knew I had to be careful, but I couldn't let Vihaan's possessiveness go unchecked. I was determined to fight for my independence, no matter what.I stood tall, my eyes locked on Vihaan's, the air between us crackling with tension. For a moment, it seemed like time itself had frozen, the only sound the soft hum of the office equipment in the background. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest, but I refused to back down. I knew that if I showed even a hint of weakness, Vihaan would pounce on it, would try to assert his dominance over me even further.

But I wasn't going to let him. I was a force to be reckoned with, and I was determined to make Vihaan understand that. "We'll see about that, Vihaan," I said, my voice steady and firm. "But for now, I think I'm done discussing this. I'll get back to work."

With that, I turned on my heel and walked away, leaving Vihaan standing alone in the hallway. I could feel his eyes on me, burning with anger and frustration, but I didn't look back. I knew that if I did, I'd be lost. I'd be drawn back into his web of possessiveness and control, and I couldn't let that happen.

I walked back to my desk, my heart still racing with adrenaline. I knew I'd have to be careful around Vihaan, that he'd try to push my boundaries even further. But I was ready for him. I was ready to stand up for myself, to fight for my independence and my autonomy. Bring it on, Vihaan. Bring it on.
