Chapter 4 - Chapter-5 a night to remember

Ch-5

As the night wore on, the music pulsed through my veins, and I let go of all my inhibitions. I danced with Raj, spinning and twirling to the beat, feeling carefree and alive. Vihaan watched us, his eyes narrowing as he sipped his drink. I could sense his gaze on me, but I didn't care. I was too caught up in the moment.

The lights blurred together, and the music grew louder. I felt Vihaan's eyes on me, burning with an intensity that made my skin prickle. But I just laughed and danced, lost in the freedom of the night.

Raj spun me around, and I stumbled into his arms. Vihaan appeared out of nowhere, his face dark with emotion. "Janvi, I think you've had enough," he said, his voice low and husky.

But I wasn't ready to stop. I pushed him away, laughing, and continued dancing with Raj. Vihaan's eyes flashed with anger, and for a moment, I thought he might do something drastic.

The music reached a crescendo, and I felt myself being swept up in Vihaan's arms. He pulled me close, his chest pressed against mine, and I felt a spark of electricity run through me.

"You're mine, Janvi," he whispered in my ear, his breath hot against my skin.

I laughed, feeling a little dizzy. "I'm nobody's," I replied, my voice barely above a whisper.

Vihaan's eyes locked onto mine, burning with a fierce passion. "We'll see about that," he growled, pulling me closer.

The world spun around us, and I felt myself getting lost in Vihaan's eyes. But just as things were getting intense, everything went black.

When I came to, I was in Vihaan's car, and he was driving me home. "What happened?" I mumbled, my head pounding.

Vihaan's jaw was clenched, and his eyes were fixed on the road. "You passed out," he said curtly. "I'm taking you home."

I leaned back in my seat, feeling a mix of emotions. What had happened between us tonight? And what did Vihaan mean by his words? I had a feeling that things were about to get a lot more complicated. As I leaned back in my seat, the cool leather beneath me seemed to match the chill in Vihaan's tone. I tried to piece together the events of the night, but my memories were hazy. One thing was certain, though - Vihaan's demeanor had shifted. The carefree friend I knew was now a brooding, intense stranger.

The silence between us was palpable, heavy with unspoken words and unresolved tension. I glanced at Vihaan, trying to read his expression, but his eyes remained fixed on the road.

"Vihaan, I'm sorry," I said finally, breaking the silence. "I think I might have had a bit too much to drink."

Vihaan's jaw clenched, and he didn't respond. I waited for him to say something, anything, but the silence stretched out between us like an endless chasm.

As we approached my house, I felt a wave of relief wash over me. I was ready to escape the tension and figure out what was going on. But as Vihaan pulled up to the curb, he turned to me, his eyes burning with an intensity that made my heart skip a beat.

"Janvi, we need to talk," he said, his voice low and serious. "About what happened tonight. About us."

I felt a shiver run down my spine as I met his gaze. What was Vihaan trying to say? And why did I feel like my life was about to change in ways I couldn't even imagine?

"Okay," I said finally, my voice barely above a whisper. "Let's talk."

Vihaan's eyes seemed to bore into mine, as if searching for something. Then, without another word, he got out of the car and walked around to my side, opening the door for me.

I took a deep breath, feeling a sense of trepidation. What was I getting myself into? But as I stepped out of the car and met Vihaan's gaze, I knew I couldn't turn back now. The night had only just begun, and I was ready to face whatever lay ahead. As I stepped out of the car, Vihaan's hand brushed against mine, sending a spark of electricity through my body. I shot him a look, but he just gave me a nonchalant smile, like he hadn't meant to touch me at all.

"Let's get one thing straight," he said, his voice low and husky, "I'm not exactly thrilled about you almost falling into Raj's arms all night."

I raised an eyebrow, a mixture of amusement and annoyance brewing inside me. "Oh, so you're playing the possessive hero now?"

Vihaan's eyes flashed with intensity. "I'm just stating facts, Janvi. You're mine, and I don't like sharing."

My heart skipped a beat at his words, but I refused to let him see how much he affected me. "Oh, is that so?" I said, my voice dripping with sarcasm. "And since when did I become yours?"

Vihaan's smile grew, and he leaned in close, his breath whispering against my ear. "Since the moment you walked into my life, Janvi. Now, let's talk about us."

I felt my cheeks heat up, and my mind went blank. What was I supposed to say to that? Before I could come up with a witty response, Vihaan took my hand and pulled me toward my front door.

"Let's discuss this inside," he said, his eyes glinting with amusement.

I rolled my eyes good-naturedly. "You're really pushing your luck, Vihaan."

He just chuckled and opened the door for me. "After you, Janvi."

As we stepped inside, I couldn't help but wonder what other surprises the night had in store for me. Little did I know, things were about to get a whole lot more interesting. As I walked in, Vihaan still holding my hand, I tripped on the doorstep and stumbled into his chest. "Whoa, clumsy me!" I exclaimed, my face burning with embarrassment.

Vihaan's eyes crinkled at the corners as he steadied me. "You okay, or do you need some extra support?" he teased, his voice low and husky.

I playfully pushed him away. "I'm fine, thanks for asking. Just peachy."

As we walked into the living room, I flopped onto the couch, and Vihaan sat down beside me, his eyes locked onto mine. "So, about us..." he began, his voice serious.

I held up a hand, interrupting him. "Before you say anything, can I just say something?"

Vihaan raised an eyebrow. "Go ahead."

I took a deep breath and blurted out, "You're really cute when you're being possessive, but also kind of creepy. So, maybe dial it back a notch?"

Vihaan's face went blank, and then he burst out laughing. "Cute? Creepy? I think I need to work on my game."

I grinned, feeling a bit more at ease. "Yeah, maybe just a bit."

As we laughed, the tension between us dissipated, and I realized that maybe, just maybe, this conversation wouldn't be so bad after all. But just as I thought that, Vihaan's expression turned serious again, and he leaned in close.

"Janvi, I mean it. I don't want to see you with Raj like that again. It's not safe for him."

My eyes locked onto his, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. Okay, maybe this conversation was going to be more intense than I thought.I smirked, my eyes locked on Vihaan's. "Oh, I'm shaking in my boots. Or should I say, I'm shaking because I'm intrigued?"

Vihaan's face remained serious, but I could see the hint of a smile playing on his lips. "You're enjoying this, aren't you?" he asked, his voice low and husky.

I nodded, my grin growing wider. "Maybe a little. But don't worry, I'll try to behave... for now."

The next day at college, Raj caught up with me in the hallway. "Hey, Janvi! What's up?" he asked, his eyes sparkling with excitement.

"Not much, Raj. Just trying to survive this lecture," I replied, rolling my eyes.

Raj chuckled. "I know, right? I'm thinking of starting a petition to make our profs more interesting."

I laughed. "Good luck with that. You should be the spokesperson."

Raj grinned. "I'll think about it. Hey, want to come over to my place for lunch today? My mom's making her famous chicken biryani."

I hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Sure, that sounds amazing. What time?"

Raj's face lit up. "How about 12:30? I'll send you my address."

As I nodded and we exchanged numbers, I couldn't help but notice the way Raj's eyes crinkled at the corners when he smiled. I pushed the thought aside, attributing it to my overactive imagination.

Little did I know, Raj's invitation would lead to a whole new level of complications...I walked into Raj's house, the aroma of his mom's famous chicken biryani wafting through the air and making my stomach growl with anticipation. Raj greeted me with a warm smile and led me to the dining table, where his mom had laid out a spread fit for a king.

As we sat down to eat, Raj's mom joined us, and we chatted about everything from college to our favorite TV shows. The food was incredible, and I couldn't help but ask for seconds.

Just as we were finishing up, my phone rang. I glanced at the screen and saw Vihaan's name flashing. "Excuse me for a sec," I said, getting up to answer the call.

"Hey, what's up?" I asked, trying to sound casual.

"Where are you?" Vihaan's voice was direct, with a hint of annoyance.

I hesitated, wondering how he knew I wasn't at college. "I'm... um... at a friend's place. Why?"

There was a pause on the other end, and I could almost hear Vihaan's mind racing. "You're at Raj's house, aren't you?" he asked, his voice low and even.

I felt a shiver run down my spine. "How did you know?"

"I'll be there soon," Vihaan said, his voice firm before hanging up.

I stood there, feeling a mix of confusion and anticipation. What was Vihaan doing? And how did he know I was at Raj's?

As I turned back to the dining table, Raj was watching me with a curious expression. "Everything okay?"

I nodded, trying to brush it off. "Yeah, just Vihaan. He's... um... dropping by to discuss a project."

Raj's eyes narrowed slightly, but he didn't push the issue. "Okay, cool. Let's finish lunch then."

Just then, the doorbell rang. Raj's mom got up to answer it, and I felt a sense of dread. I had a feeling I knew exactly who was at the door.

And then, Vihaan walked into the dining room, his eyes locked onto mine with an intensity that made my heart skip a beat.

Raj's eyes followed mine, and his expression darkened as he took in Vihaan's presence. "Vihaan. What brings you here?"

Vihaan's gaze didn't waver from mine. "I was in the neighborhood and thought I'd drop by to discuss... lunch."

The air was thick with tension as Raj's mom, oblivious to the undercurrents, smiled and offered Vihaan a plate of food. "Would you like to join us for lunch, Vihaan?"

Vihaan's eyes never left mine as he replied, "I'd love to."
