Janvi's pov
Next day at college
The day of the dance partner selection had finally arrived. I was nervous but excited to see who I'd be paired with for the upcoming competition. Raj had mentioned that he'd try to talk to the teacher about pairing us together, but I wasn't sure if it would work out.
As we gathered in the auditorium, the teacher began to announce the pairings. "Okay, let's get started! First up, we have... Raj and Priya!"
The crowd erupted in cheers and applause as Raj and Priya high-fived each other. I smiled 😊, happy for them.
Next, the teacher called out, "Vihaan and Janvi!"
My heart sank as Vihaan's name was paired with mine. I looked up to see Vihaan standing across from me, a smirk on his face.
"No way!" I muttered under my breath, feeling a surge of frustration.
The teacher continued to announce the pairings, but I wasn't listening. I was too busy trying to process why I'd been paired with Vihaan.
As the announcements finished, Vihaan strode over to me, a confident smile on his face. "Looks like we're partners, Janvi."
I glared at him, trying to hide my unease. "Great. Just what I always wanted."
Vihaan chuckled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "I'm thrilled to be working with you too, Janvi."😏
I rolled my eyes, trying to play it cool. But inside, I was seething. How was I going to work with him
"Excuse me, teacher," I said,
approaching the teacher who was still standing on stage.
"I was wondering if I could switch partners. I don't think Vihaan and I would work well together."
The teacher looked at me sympathetically.
"it's not possible, Janvi. The pairings have been made, and we can't make any changes at this point."
I felt a pang of disappointment.
"But why did you pair us together? Vihaan and I don't even like each other."
The teacher smiled. "Sometimes, the best partnerships come from unexpected places. I think you two will surprise everyone, including yourselves."
I left the stage, feeling frustrated and defeated. Vihaan was waiting for me, a smug look on his face.
"Looks like we're stuck together, Janvi," he said, his voice dripping with amusement.
I glared at him. "This isn't over. I'll find a way to switch partners, mark my words."
Vihaan raised an eyebrow. "I'm shaking in my boots."
Raj approached us, a concerned look on his face.
"Hey, Janvi, what's going on? I saw you trying to switch partners."
I sighed. "It's not possible. The teacher said we're stuck with each other."
Raj nodded sympathetically. "Don't worry, Janvi. We'll make it work. Vihaan and I will help you practice, and we'll make sure you're ready for the competition."
Vihaan's expression turned cold. "I don't need your help, Raj. Janvi and I will handle it ourselves."
Raj's eyes narrowed. "Fine, but if Janvi needs help, I'm there."
The tension between Vihaan and Raj was palpable. I felt like I was caught in the middle of a war.
"Let's just focus on the competition, okay?" I said, trying to diffuse the situation.
Vihaan nodded, his expression still cold. "Fine. Let's get started with rehearsals."
I nodded, feeling a sense of trepidation. What had I gotten myself into?
As we left the auditorium, Vihaan turned to me. "I'll pick you up from your house tomorrow at 5 pm. Be ready to practice."
I raised an eyebrow. "You're coming to my house?"
Vihaan smirked. "I'm not going to let you slack off, Janvi. We'll practice until we're perfect."
I felt a shiver run down my spine as Vihaan's eyes locked onto mine. What was I getting myself into?
The next day, I stood outside my house, waiting for Vihaan to arrive. I was determined to make the best of this situation and prove to Vihaan that I was a great dancer.
When Vihaan arrived, he was his usual arrogant self. "Ready to learn from me, Janvi?" he asked, smirking.
I rolled my eyes. "I'm ready to dance, not worship you."
Vihaan chuckled. "We'll see about that."
As we started rehearsing, I quickly realized that Vihaan was a perfectionist. He was demanding and critical, but he was also a great dancer. I found myself getting frustrated with my own mistakes, but Vihaan's harsh words didn't help.
"You're doing it all wrong," Vihaan said, exasperated. "Can't you see that your arms are stiff? Relax, Janvi!"
I glared at him. "I'm trying, okay? But you're not exactly the most encouraging partner."
Vihaan raised an eyebrow. "I'm not here to coddle you, Janvi. I'm here to win."
I huffed, feeling my competitive side rise to the surface. "Fine. Let's show you what I'm capable of."
The rehearsal continued, with Vihaan criticizing my every move and me trying to prove myself. Despite the tension, we managed to get the choreography down, but it was clear that Vihaan was still not satisfied.
As we finished up, Vihaan turned to me. "You're not bad, Janvi. But you're not good enough yet."
I shot him a look. "Thanks for the vote of confidence."
Vihaan smirked. "I'm just keeping it real. But don't worry, I'll make sure you're ready for the competition."
I raised an eyebrow. "And how do you plan on doing that?"
Vihaan's smirk turned into a full-blown grin. "Oh, I have a few tricks up my sleeve."
I narrowed my eyes, unsure of what to make of Vihaan's sudden change in demeanor. Was he actually starting to enjoy our partnership?
As we packed up to leave, Vihaan turned to me. "Tomorrow, same time. Don't be late."
I saluted him. "Yes, sir."
Vihaan chuckled. "Good. I like a little bit of sarcasm."
I smiled sweetly. "Glad I could entertain you."
The banter between us was starting to feel almost... enjoyable. Almost.
As Vihaan left, I couldn't help but feel a little bit of excitement for our next rehearsal. What would Vihaan come up with next?
The next day, I arrived at the studio feeling determined. But as I walked in, I was greeted by a surprise.
"What's going on?" I asked Vihaan, seeing the other dancers gathered in the studio.
"We're going to work on some lifts," Vihaan said, a mischievous glint in his eye.
My eyes widened in horror. "Lifts? Are you kidding me?"
Vihaan chuckled. "Not at all, Janvi. You're going to trust me, and we're going to nail this."
I gulped, feeling my heart racing. Trust Vihaan? Was he crazy?
But Vihaan just smiled and held out his hand. "Let's do this, Janvi."
I hesitated for a moment, but then I took his hand. We were going to do this, even if it killed me.
