[Eva Everhart has received a slight increase in Wisdom]
+260 System Points
Raeshan glanced at the system window. A bored smile appeared on his face.
He had been reading Volume Three of Element Mage Accession, but the cold system voice pulled his attention away from the pages.
"So many system points…" Raeshan muttered.
Other customers only gave a small amount, yet this one kept producing an unusually high number.
Why?
As if answering his thoughts, the system's cold voice echoed in his mind.
[System Points are determined by the customer's strength and what they gain while reading.]
Raeshan nodded slightly as he understood.
He looked toward the reading area. A beautiful young woman sat there, fully absorbed in the manga.
So her name is Eva… and she is strong.
His gaze drifted to her armor. Even without looking closely, he could tell it was high quality and expensive.
That would sell for a fortune, he thought.
He shook his head and returned to his own manga.
On the other side of the store, Eva continued reading, her attention fixed on the part involving the Dark Elves.
In the manga, after being taken away by the Dark Elf tribe, Elean found himself standing before a woman of breathtaking beauty.
She was beautiful.
Like the others, she had long ears and dark skin, but hers was smooth and faintly luminous under the forest light. Her purple eyes glowed softly, calm yet distant. Long black hair fell down her back, and she wore a gown that looked more fitting for a goddess than a ruler.
She was the most beautiful woman Elean had ever seen.
Eva paused.
Her fingers rested on the edge of the page as her eyes stayed on the Dark Elf woman.
Beautiful.
The thought came instantly, and Eva frowned.
So this is the Dark Elf goddess…
Long ears. Dark skin. Glowing eyes. Even drawn on paper, the woman's presence felt heavy. Eva did not like it.
She had met powerful women before. Most of them smiled while hiding blades.
"Tch."
She clicked her tongue and turned the page.
In the manga, Elean stood frozen before the goddess. The pressure in the air made it hard to breathe, yet he could not look away.
"Human," the goddess said calmly. "Why do you trespass in land protected by our faith and blood?"
Eva snorted softly.
As if he had a choice.
Her eyes moved quickly across the page.
This was not a friendly meeting. Either the goddess was testing him, or she was judging him.
Eva leaned back slightly. Something stirred in her chest.
This would not end gently.
In the manga, Elean spoke with the Dark Elf goddess for a long time. After some trouble, he finally showed a badge given to him by Anma, the former Archmage of the Magic Tower.
The moment the goddess saw the badge, her attitude changed.
She released Elean, but not without a condition.
She wanted a rare herb called the Seven Color Tea Leaf.
Elean agreed to find it and give it to her.
Only then did the Dark Elf goddess allow him to leave.
Eva felt disappointed when she read that part.
She had expected them to fight.
She turned the page.
After several difficulties, Elean finally reached the Elf Queendom. But something was wrong. The elves were preparing for war.
On the final page, a massive serpent-like being appeared.
Eva stared at the page.
Volume Three ended there.
She closed the manga with a quiet sigh.
What a terrible place to stop.
But at that moment, something incredible happened.
A sudden surge of mana overflowed from Eva's mana core.
She froze, holding her breath, unsure of what to think. The sensation was unfamiliar yet undeniable. After a few moments, she realized what had happened.
The bottleneck that had blocked her for so long had loosened.
She was very close to reaching the early stage of high-grade.
Eva slowly exhaled.
Her gaze drifted toward the store owner, and she remembered the words he had spoken when he first explained what manga was.
Battles and magic that could be learned just by reading.
So it was true.
Her feelings turned complicated. Excitement mixed with disbelief… and a trace of embarrassment.
She looked down at the volumes resting on the table, then quickly gathered them and placed them into her storage bag.
After a brief pause, she walked toward the counter.
When she stopped in front of the store owner, he looked up at her and asked calmly if she needed any help.
For some reason, Eva felt her face warm slightly.
The store owner suddenly looked… kind of handsome.
She cleared her throat.
"Do you have the next volume?"
Raeshan hesitated. He only had the first three volumes in stock.
Inside his mind, he asked the system.
How can I get the other volumes?
The system's cold mechanical voice responded.
[You may purchase the remaining volumes of Element Mage Accession from the System Store.]
"How much for Volume Four?" Raeshan asked.
[Element Mage Accession Volume Four. Price: 1000 System Points for 200 copies.]
[Current Store Currency: 440 System Points.]
Raeshan stared at the numbers.
After seeing the price and his remaining points, he understood one thing clearly.
He would have to work much harder.
