Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 Come on, let's have a fun battle!

Bai Yu didn't say much, took out a Poké Ball and put the Houndoom on the ground into it.

Inside the Poké Ball, Houndoom lay motionless on the ground.

  Unmoved.

The number of battles Houndoom had lost in this period of time

was more than all the battles it had lost before its evolution.

It would be strange if Houndoom had any fighting spirit.

Even if Bai Yu wanted to change this situation, it was difficult to change Houndoom's stereotype.

It could only be changed through subsequent practical actions.

"It still needs a few more battles to let Houndoom regain its confidence." "And

incidentally, improve some of the Seed Iron Ball's battle skills."

"It's a pity that Seed Iron Ball can't use Photosynthesis. If it could master Photosynthesis, it would at least add some room for error in battle."

"The move Root is ultimately not as outstanding as the recovery effect of Photosynthesis."

Bai Yu was also experiencing the battle mode of this world for the first time, and he still needed to find some strangers

to properly adapt to the battle style.

In preparation for the upcoming gym battles,

the Pokédex is currently abuzz with talk of the strongest gym in the Kanto Region.

At the same time, many comments mention it as the weakest.

Since the old man left, the title of "weakest gym" has grown louder every day, seemingly surpassing even the Cerulean Gym.

After all, Cerulean Gym's underwater ballet is unparalleled in the Kanto Region.

In terms of earning money, it's definitely the most profitable of the eight gyms on the surface.

A single performance (or tournament) is comparable to any concert in my previous life, and it's always sold out.

"Compared to that method of acquiring money, ordinary gyms can only rely on the number of challengers or use side businesses for additional profit."

In the Kanto Region, many Gyms recognized by the League

are far less renowned than the eight main Gyms. To survive here,

almost all Gym Leaders hold some secondary job.

Only Bai Yu can only rely on the League's stipends to make a living.

"Besides the two main Pokémon left by the old man, I only have Magneton left. This Pokémon, which I've raised since it was a puppy, is still a formidable opponent."

Bai Yu still doesn't particularly like Magneton.

Magneton's type isn't outstanding, and its moves aren't as impressive as Toggotmar's within the same type, although its offensive capabilities are decent.

  However…

its only weakness is its Ground type, which is four times weaker, and everyone has one.

Everyone knows that Geodude is relatively easy to obtain among all Pokémon.

If you use a Pokémon like Geodude or Onix in a battle, Magneton's advantage collapses instantly.

Not everyone can be like Ash, adept at using type disadvantages to win battles.

Magneton's pre-evolved form, Magnemite, requires a Thunder Stone. Given Bai Yu's current resources, acquiring a Thunder Stone is less feasible than trying his luck at Mt. Moon for a Moon Stone.

Not to mention the need to further develop his gym. While

Steel is indeed a very strong type, boasting excellent resistances and powerful moves

, this is the world of Pokémon. A single type will definitely be a significant disadvantage in later battles.

Well-rounded champions are almost always undefeated in their respective regions.      The pseudo-Dragon trainer, Lance, besides his Dragonite, what other Dragon-type Pokémon does he possess?

He's just the Flying-type Elite Four member of the Kanto Region.

Relatively well-rounded Champion trainers are perhaps only Cynthia from Sinnoh, Alder from Unova, and Leon, who was hailed as the strongest Champion to date but was utterly defeated by Eternatus.

Ding! Magneton, Electric/Steel type. It can be found in almost every region.

Ability: Magnetism   . Moves: Cannon, Noise, Thunder Wave, Levitate, Ultrasonic, Light Screen, Reflect, Thunderbolt, Electric Terrain.

Description: Composed of multiple Magnemites linked together, it emits a powerful magnetic field and high voltage.

"Light Screen, Reflect, Ultrasonic, Electric Terrain."

Bai Yu couldn't recall his predecessor using any of the moves listed in the Pokédex.

This Magneton wasn't as weak as he'd imagined.

It possessed moves like Thunderbolt and Cannon in its native type.

In addition to possessing a variety of non-offensive skills, Magneton is, to some extent, quite well-trained.

Bai Yu quickly retrieved his Pokédex, allowing him to go to the Pokémon Center for a battle.

He wanted to see how strong his Magneton was

and also get used to the power of the Seed Iron Ball.

Although he didn't have many Pokémon, Marsh City would be a good place to check if there were any problems with his Pokémon training.

Bai Yu soon arrived at the Pokémon Center, which was quite crowded.

After all, it was one of the few cities in the Kanto Region.

As a stopover, the trainers here were almost all trainers who had earned several badges.

They could be considered 'high-end' trainers!   Bai Yu looked around, looking for a seemingly strong opponent for his first battle.

  "That Scyther is so strong!!!"

"No wonder it's known as the Swordsman of the Forest. When will I be able to control such a powerful Scyther?"

"He's a trainer who's earned four badges, how could we possibly compare?"

Bai Yu followed the voice and looked in the distance.

Surrounded by the crowd, a young man stood proudly, his eyes filled with unprecedented confidence, accompanied by a Scyther.

He seemed to be a trainer of considerable strength.

"Just four badges? There are many stronger people than me. I was just lucky to barely get those four badges..."

The young man appeared humble, but couldn't hide the pride on his face.

There weren't many trainers his age who could achieve this, let alone control such a powerful Pokémon as Scyther.

He was already prepared to take on the Indigo League this time.

Bai Yu looked at him with interest. Four badges might be cannon fodder in the original lore, but in this real world, it made him a rather outstanding trainer.

After all, very few trainers can achieve what Ash did in his first year, participating in the Indigo League and achieving success.

Most trainers take several years to barely reach the level Ash reached in his first competition.

As for his predecessor, he often lost to ordinary trainers who had just earned one or two badges.

This was only after years of training at gyms, demonstrating just how poor his talent was.

He was the type who was bad at the game but had a huge inner strength, always believing he could become a champion.

This kind of single-mindedness, without exceptional talent, might have led to a life of mediocrity.
