Chapter 94 - Chapter 94: I'll Do It Myself!

Chapter 94: I'll Do It Myself!

In the pitch-black night, a silver arc of light flashed as a vehicle pulled up in front of Alice's Bar.

This was the newly released Silver Streak Type 4 hovercar. While not a top-tier luxury model, its value exceeded a million credits, making it a true luxury vehicle in the Lower City District.

The door glided open, and Donnie, dressed in a well-tailored suit, stepped out with a fawning smile.

"Mr. Cade, please come in!"

A pale-faced middle-aged man exited the vehicle—it was Cade, the pharmacologist who had once appeared beside Donolin.

Cade scrutinized the establishment, looking it up and down. Donnie leaned closer. "Mr. Cade, this is the most luxurious and well-equipped establishment in the Lower City. Of course, it can't compare to the entertainment venues in Midtown. I'd like to take you there, but given my current status, I'm afraid I can't access Midtown."

Donnie smiled knowingly. "However, there's a special feature here—custom androids manufactured by the Laimi Corporation. They're 100% bio-engineered, far superior to those mechanical shells wrapped in synthetic skin!"

The Laimi Corporation was the actual financial backer of the Gear Gang, which was merely a small branch of one of its many subsidiaries.

Cade's face lit up with interest. "That's quite considerate of you."

Donnie smiled. "You mentioned wanting to acquire an Elemental Energy Compound. I wonder...?"

Cade nodded and said softly, "I need to formulate a new reagent. The entire border city has very strict controls on Elemental Energy Compounds. If we go through official channels, we need to file documentation."

"But right now, I don't want to expose my experimental project to the authorities, so... do you understand?" Cade glanced at Donnie.

Donnie smiled. "As it happens, a certain individual possesses one vial, and he's quite willing to establish a relationship with you. However, he's recently encountered some minor difficulties. If you're willing to help, he might even give you the vial for free."

Cade smiled. "A favor worth a vial of elemental energy isn't something simple. Name your price!"

Donnie wasn't surprised by Cade's refusal. The basic formula for elemental energy compounds was controlled by true oligarchs, and even on the black market, the supply was limited. Besides being used for advancing to the first energy level, it was also the base substrate for many combination reagents, and demand always exceeded supply.

As far as he knew, there were no elemental energy compounds available on the black market in the entire Lower City recently. The vial he had belonged to his employer's personal collection and was unique.

Cade appeared eager now. The initiative was in Donnie's hands, and in fact, the deal was already half complete. Donnie felt slightly reassured and led Cade into the bar via the private elevator.

As soon as the elevator doors opened, a cacophony of shouts and curses erupted, accompanied by a familiar roar that Donnie recognized.

"I'm going to kill you!"

Cade frowned, clearly displeased with the environment. Donnie hurriedly escorted Cade to the reserved room, then made an excuse to slip away, running toward the source of the commotion.

He was certain he hadn't misheard—that roar had come from Mad Dog Johnny.

"That damned mad dog! I'll deal with him myself one day! What kind of place does he think Alice's Bar is, where he can just run wild?!"

Meanwhile, the room where Mason was located was a complete disaster. Tables, chairs, and furniture had been scattered in the aftermath of their fight. Mad Dog Johnny's left arm was severed at the wrist, his body covered in a crisscrossing network of wounds, soaked in blood.

Mason, meanwhile, coldly circled Johnny, adding to his injuries in a deliberate cat-and-mouse game. As the blood drained, Johnny's condition worsened, his movements becoming increasingly sluggish, and Mason seemed to have lost interest in prolonging things.

The sharp blade on his gauntlet pierced Johnny's right shoulder joint, and with a sound of metal snapping, he severed the connection, tearing off Johnny's entire mechanical arm!

"Kill me if you dare!" Johnny roared furiously.

"Mason, don't be rash!"

Chris warned, fearing Mason might act impulsively. "Johnny just secured a new block—he's a major player in the Gear Gang now. If you take him out, Boss Donnie won't let it slide!"

"Yeah, yeah, don't be impulsive!" Gerald chimed in, having already kicked the android he'd been with far away.

He was mostly sober now, and if Johnny died here, he and Chris would inevitably be implicated.

"Kid, do it!"

"One life for one life!" Johnny shouted frantically.

"What's going on here? Stop this!"

Just then, a roar came from the doorway, and Donnie appeared before them, his face dark.

Seeing Donnie appear, Mad Dog Johnny's face lit up with hope. "Boss, I—"

"Shut up! Haven't you embarrassed yourself enough already?" Donnie sneered.

"Mason, release him right now!"

Mason's expression turned cold. "Boss Donnie, I think you should hear what happened..."

"Didn't you hear me tell you to release him?" Donnie was anxious to get back to entertaining Mr. Cade and didn't want to waste time here.

Seeing Mad Dog Johnny's intoxicated state, he understood the situation. This guy must have been drunk and deliberately provoked Mason, which is why he was defeated.

In the past month, Johnny had been fighting on the front lines and had even helped him secure new territory. For various reasons, he was more inclined to protect Johnny.

His understanding of Mason was still based on what it had been a month ago.

What he didn't know was that although only a short month had passed, Mason's capabilities had increased exponentially, leaving someone like Johnny far behind.

Mason's expression turned ice cold. He lowered his head. "Boss Donnie, this guy's been like a rabid dog, attacking me twice. I want to know what you plan to do about him."

"That's my concern. I'll handle it fairly!"

"Release him right now, do you hear me!" A flash of anger crossed Donnie's face—his mind wasn't focused on this at all.

"Last time Johnny attacked, you said that if we ever had another conflict, you wouldn't let us off easily!" In the dim light, no one could see Mason's expression clearly.

But inexplicably, everyone felt a chill run through them.

"You don't need to handle this yourself."

"Let me handle it myself!"

Before anyone could react, Mason slammed the metal blade on his gauntlet into Johnny's mouth. With the sounds of metal snapping and mechanical parts grinding, Mason used both hands to wrench open Johnny's jaw and then drove the blade into his brain, twisting it violently.

Blood splattered, and metal fragments from Johnny's cybernetic jaw flew out, hitting Chris and Gerald in the face.

The two didn't even think to dodge, staring blankly at the horrific scene before them.

"Mason, how dare you!"

Donnie's furious roar came from nearby.
