Chapter 95 - Chapter 95: Ultimate Burst!

Chapter 95: Ultimate Burst!

Johnny knelt before Mason, his head torn from his jaw, only a sliver of flesh connecting it to his neck—clearly, he was beyond any hope of survival.

Mason grabbed his collar, coldly wiping blood from his clothes with his other hand.

Without looking up, he said, "Boss Donnie, Johnny broke your rules. This is a minor matter—you don't need to handle it. I took care of it myself."

Donnie's eyes gleamed with a dangerous light, and Mason felt his body tighten, as if locked onto by some lethal weapon. He took a small step back, his muscles tensing, ready to react at any moment!

"Good, very good!"

Donnie spat out the words through gritted teeth.

"Chris, Gerald, you two dispose of this mad dog's corpse. I have other business to attend to—I'm leaving!" He finished, giving Mason a cold glance.

"I handle my own affairs. Next time, if you dare act rashly again, I'll kill you!"

"Yes, sir!"

Mason lowered his head, feigning submission. A murderous glint flashed in his eyes as he calculated the distance between them and the probability of a successful strike.

However, even after Donnie turned to leave, Mason didn't act rashly. A vague sense of danger lingered in his mind. He didn't know Donnie's true capabilities or what modifications he'd undergone, and it would be too reckless to attack now.

Besides, this was a public venue. Even if he killed Donnie, he would still need to deal with the Gear Gang's retaliation.

A heavy stench of blood filled the room. After a long silence, Chris asked with a grim expression, "Mason, did you do this deliberately? You knew Johnny would be here!"

Mason feigned innocence. "Chris, what are you implying? You're the one who organized this drinking session. I graciously invited everyone for drinks, and this is how you see me?"

Chris's face stiffened slightly. "But why did you change the location at the last minute?"

"You did me a huge favor this afternoon. Shouldn't I have shown my appreciation?"

Chris was momentarily speechless.

He sighed. "Alright, Mason, I misjudged you. I helped you, you bought us drinks—now we're even."

"For the sake of our acquaintance, let me warn you: you killed Mad Dog Johnny and embarrassed Boss Donnie. He won't let this slide!"

"Although he rarely takes action personally, Boss Donnie's legend circulates throughout the Lower City. Nobody knows what his modification capabilities are, but with a weapon in hand, Boss Donnie can eliminate anyone in the Lower City without needing a second shot."

"You'd better watch yourself!"

Mason's expression hardened slightly. Donnie's marksmanship had left a deep impression on him before, but judging from Chris's words, Donnie's abilities were far more formidable than they appeared.

After dealing with everything, it was late at night. As Mason left, he happened to see Donnie escorting a pale-faced middle-aged man out of the bar.

He only caught a glimpse of the middle-aged man's profile and Donnie's obsequious demeanor. He was tempted to follow, but Donnie entered a hovercar. After starting, it ascended to a designated traffic lane in the lower airspace, made a few turns, and disappeared from Mason's sight.

He opened his interface—the bio-battery upgrade was complete, its power output significantly increased. When Mason exerted maximum effort, the energy supply was smoother, and the recovery time was faster.

With the battery upgrade finished, the overload ability gained from altering the plot was also now available.

When battery capacity exceeded 30%, the courier could enter an energy overload state for a short period, with duration depending on the courier's physical condition and remaining battery power.

Based on the courier's current physical condition, the energy overload state could improve physical parameters by 20% to 30%. After the overload state ended, the user would enter a weakened state.

Battery consumption would double, battery power would be reduced by half, and physical parameters would decline sharply, returning to normal after rest.

When battery capacity was below 30%, activating the overload state was strictly prohibited. Forcing activation would greatly increase the chance of battery damage or even catastrophic failure.

"To be able to increase physical stats by nearly 30%—that's already a terrifying enhancement," Mason thought to himself.

"I'll call this ability 'Limit Burst'!"

With his current physical capabilities, if he activated Limit Burst, it would be equivalent to crossing into the first energy level. At least in terms of physical attributes, he would be comparable to a newly advanced first-level elemental warrior.

In the Lower City, if he was careful, he could operate with relative impunity.

However, Mason didn't think this enhancement would scale indefinitely. Depending on the battery's tier, there should be an upper threshold. As his base stats increased, the corresponding enhancement percentage would likely decrease.

If he didn't upgrade the battery further, he might eventually face a situation where it became unusable.

At this moment, Cade, who had parted ways with Donnie, appeared at Donolin's residence.

"Uncle Cade, how did it go?" Donolin asked nervously.

"Don't worry, everything's been arranged."

Cade's face showed a cryptic smile.

"Excellent!" Donolin clenched his fist triumphantly.

"Uncle Cade, my physical condition hasn't reached the threshold for the first energy level. If I inject the elemental energy compound, will it...?" Donolin asked hesitantly.

For someone whose physical condition hasn't reached the corresponding level, the elemental energy compound is no less than deadly poison.

After injecting the elemental energy compound, the spine would be activated, completely transforming the person's entire physiology. If the physical condition wasn't sufficient, it would be impossible to endure.

Cade waved his hand dismissively. "Don't worry, I certainly can't inject you with the standard compound. I'll adjust the formula appropriately. After my modifications, there won't be any problems using it."

"But don't rush. Stabilize your physical condition over the next few days and inject the cleansing compound. I need you to purge the excess reagent impurities from your system, then rest and recover."

"Although the elemental energy compound we're acquiring is from private hands, it's still registered. They need to process it, which will take some time," Cade explained.

"Before that, you need to prepare funds—substantial funds!"

Donolin gritted his teeth. "Uncle Cade, just tell me—as long as I can afford it, I'm willing to pay any amount!"

Cade held up three fingers, and Donolin's face drained of color.

"Thirty... thirty million!"

"This is highway robbery!" Donolin roared.

"If I buy it through official channels, it would only cost 8 million at most!"

"But the Energy Compound is only available for immediate authorized use and requires physical certification testing." Cade shook his head. "With your current physical parameters, you can't purchase it even if you have the money."

"And after your father returns..." Cade said meaningfully.

"Stop!" Donolin gritted his teeth.

"I'll buy it!"
