Lee Yan walked over to the elevator and stared at it as it slowly rose, a vague sense of unease growing in his heart. Suddenly, the entire building lost power, and the elevator doors slowly opened.
Lee Yan and Fumei looked at the elevator, which had only come up halfway. When they looked inside, they saw several zombies. All the colleagues who had gone down earlier were lying on the floor, having been bitten by the zombies.
One of the zombies suddenly turned its head and looked at Lee Yan.
Lee Yan immediately shouted to Xiaowen and Boss Wu and ran toward the stairwell. At that moment, all the zombies crawled out through the narrow gap of the elevator and charged straight at them.
After all of them entered the stairwell, Lee Yan quickly locked the door. The zombies slammed against the door like madmen, while Fumei and Xiaowen watched in terror.
Boss Wu said urgently,
"Run to the balcony!"
Hearing this, they all started running upward. The zombies quickly broke through the door and chased after them.
Boss Wu opened the balcony door and went inside. Xiaowen and Fumei followed right after. Lee Yan was the last to enter and tightly shut the door.
The zombies rushed up and began smashing against the door. Lee Yan and Boss Wu hurried forward to hold it shut.
Not long after, screams from downstairs drew the zombies' attention. All of them ran back down, finally giving Lee Yan and Boss Wu a moment to catch their breath.

Chapter Two: Prejudice
Lee Yan walked over to Fumei, who was standing at the edge of the balcony feeling the cold wind, and asked,
"Are you okay?"
Fumei smiled slightly.
"I'm fine."
Then she looked at Xiaowen, who was frantically dialing her phone, and said,
"She's the one who's not fine. Her very first week in Korya Town, and she runs into something like this."
Boss Wu walked over to Xiaowen and said,
"Stop calling. No one outside is probably able to receive calls right now."
With tears streaming down her face, Xiaowen said,
"I'm just scared. I don't know why my whole life has been so unlucky. I came to this town thinking I could finally live peacefully, but instead…"
As she spoke, Xiaowen held onto the railing of the balcony.
Boss Wu said to her,
"Stop exhausting yourself mentally like this. We have no food and no water here. If you keep going like this, who knows whether you'll even last until rescue arrives."
Just like that, they endured their way into the night. Boss Wu said to everyone,
"Let's take turns keeping watch at night, so we don't all get wiped out by the zombies at once, alright?"
Everyone nodded. Fumei raised her hand and said,
"I'll go first. I can't really sleep anyway."
Boss Wu said,
"Alright. The rest of us will get some sleep first, and we'll think of a way to escape tomorrow."
After that, Boss Wu and Xiaowen lay down on the floor to sleep.
Fumei walked over to the balcony and looked down at the zombies wandering below. She felt extremely unsettled.
At that moment, Lee Yan walked up beside her and asked,
"Is something on your mind?"
Fumei looked at him and said,
"I'm worried about my son. I always have been."
Lee Yan asked,
"Why?"
Fumei said tremblingly,
"There's something wrong with his sexual orientation. No one is willing to be friends with him. Every time I see him all alone, my heart aches for no reason. Now that something like this has happened, my first thought is to go save him."
Just then, a noise suddenly came from downstairs.
A person was driving a car, crashing wildly through a crowd of zombies. The commotion was so loud that it drew both Boss Wu and Xiaowen over.
The four of them watched as the person drove straight through the zombies and disappeared into the distance. Then they looked at one another in silence.
By the next morning, the four of them were so hungry from having no food that they didn't even feel like talking.
Fumei stepped forward and said,
"I want to go to the school and save my son while we still have some strength left."
Xiaowen asked,
"To go die?"
Fumei said angrily,
"Do you want to stay here and wait to die instead?! If I'm going to die, I want it to mean something, not die here. Don't you also have a son studying there? Let's go and save them together, alright?"
Xiaowen's eyes began to fill with tears. Fumei stepped forward and hugged her.
Boss Wu and Lee Yan did not oppose what Fumei said.
