I feel some tension release from her when hearing my words. I bring her in closer, wrapping my arms around her and resting my chin on her head. For a moment I forgot about everything. Forgot about the hundreds of shifters in the ballroom with us, staring. I forgot about her pack, about the Elders and the council, it was just me and her. For gaslight second I couldn't be happier,
*COUGH COUGH*
" GET YOUR HANDS OFF HIM!"
The female who dared touch me returns holding onto her throat coughing, trying to get words out. " I said, get your hands off him, SAMANTHA! He is mine! DADDY!!" She screeches looking back at her father who is completely red, furious by something. His expression, filled with loathing, but he is staring at…..me. No, he is staring at my mate.
This pisses me off, why the hell is he looking at her like that.
Placing a kiss on the top of Sam's head. I gently guided her towards where Callen and the blonde who defended her earlier were standing.
"Excuse me?" I stand up straight and look down on Seraphina, if I remember her name correctly, and her father.
Her mother comes to her side quickly, defending her pathetic excuse of a daughter. " You highness, we apologize, but you must be confused. The female you were just touching, she—"
" I would be careful with your next words. My wolf and I do not take kindly to someone disrespecting our mate." I said the last word in a growl. Luna Vasti visibly shuddered and took a step back. " She has been under my care since she was a pup! I do not allow this mating! The only female you can take in my pack is my daughter." He coughs, realizing who he is speaking to and lowering his head, "My daughter Seraphina is more qualified to mate you, your Highness"
The Alpha has the balls to tell me what to do! I give him a menacing smile and go to take a step when I'm stopped by someone grabbing my hand. Electricity sparking up my arm into my core alerting me to who grabbed me without having to look. Sam, tangles our fingers together, with her chest out and chin high she speaks to her Alpha pair.
"I am an adult wolf. I have been on my own and emancipated since I was fifteen years old, you have no say over me."
Alpha Jered was stumped by her words, scrunching his face into disgust.
"You only want him because I do! You stole him from me!" Seraphina cried out and stomped her feet like a toddler.
"The hell I do, I am your Alpha! You are my pack member! You are not worthy of the king." Alpha Jered spat out.
I'm getting tired of their disrespect. I let go of some of my aura, directed only at them, instantly they bow their heads in submission. And they call themselves strong?
"Let's get some things clear, when I found Sam she did not know who I was and accepted to come with me." Letting go of Sam's hand and instantly feeling the coldness left there. I take a step towards them, visibly uncomfortable they resist the power. Sweat running down all three of their faces, "second, you have no authority to separate fated mates, only the deciding pair and the King and Queen." I took another step and sent just a little bit more power into them, they groaned at the pressure. "Lastly, I can do whatever the fuck I want because I am King and she? She is your Queen." at that their eyes bulge open at the realization. Standing in front of them I turn around to face my mate, but direct my words to the trio. " Now, kneel before her." Sending just the last amount of power needed, they kneel before Samantha. Their future Queen Luna.
Grabbing Samanath's hand I start walking out of the ballroom away from the parting crowd. Wanting to get out of this dreadful territory. I do not wish to know if the Alpha would be stupid enough to try to retaliate, but with Samantha here I will not risk it.
We walk through the doors hitting the cool night air. I mindlink Callen, and Enoch: "We are heading to the jet now, have everything ready, I want to be airborne no later than 15 minutes. Enoch find your mate and get her on board we will not be waiting"
"Yes Alpha." They both reply. Callen jogs away to make sure everything for the jet is being prepared as I assume Enoch is rushing to find his mate. Without a second glance I started dragging Sam along until we reached the tree line of the forest where the jet was just ahead. So many things are circulating through my head, but I will organize them on the plane. Right now I have to make sure my mate and people are out of this territory.
"Sam! Hold up!"
We stop abruptly. I place myself in front of my mate in a protective stance, until I see the blonde from earlier. Sam pushes me out of the way gently with a hand.
"Kieran, It's just Cameran, my best friend. Please, I have to talk to her" She pleads, seeing the desperation on her face I nod.
"Very well." Stepping aside half a step.
"Sam! Goddess! I thought you were gone already." She gives my mate a tight hug.
"No, not yet, I wouldn't leave without saying bye, but Cam.what the fuck! The things you said to Seraphina, and everything that just happened ! They are going to kill you, possibly Dirge! At best they will whip you. Cameran you have to leave. Get Dirge out." My mate's heart was broken. I want to help her, but with this I don't know if I can. Taking her because she is my mate no one can't dispute, but actively kidnapping two pack members. The Alpha can accuse me of excessive use of power, rally other alphas, that could give them exactly what they need for the civil war they've been itching for.
"No Sam, that's what I came to tell you. Right before I saw you in the ball room, I met my mate!" Emotions flashed in my mates face landing on excitement.
"What! I'm so happy! Who is he?" Sam excitedly asked.
"Well that's the thing, I don't know. We spoke for about twenty minutes before he said he had to go meet someone. But he said he would take me with him. I bet he will take my dad too, you know he isn't a burden. He can take care of himself as long as its safe"
"Okay that's great Cam. What's his name?"
"Ehh…" Cameran bit her lip nervously. "Okay I didn't ask! I was too shocked to ask when I found him! But Sam, he is hot! Beyond fuckable hot!" My mate giggled. I gave a low growl at my mate finding another male 'hot'.
She raised a brow at me.
"That's all good and all Cam, but how are you going to find him? Before the pack comes looking for you?"
"I don't know Sam Sam" Cameran says exasperated.
"Not wanting to cut this short ladies, but we really do have to go" I said hurriedly.
"What? We can't leave her here alone. We have to help her find him." My mate whirls to me, baffled. I even suggested leaving right now.
At that moment we hear rustling near the trees behind us. I push both females back and get in between them and suspecting danger.
When someone comes running out, "There you are! I've been looking for you everywhere!" confusion rolls through me.
"Enoch, I told you where I was heading. If you were looking you could have mildlinked." That's when I realized he wasn't looking at me, but at the females. When Cameran give a high pitch squeal. " Sam thats him!" She runs towards Enoch wrapping her arms around him as if they have known each other for years.
This night keeps bringing surprises.
