Waking up, Loona looked around in confusion, unsure of where she was. Then she remembered the night before and blushed slightly, glancing around before looking at Zac, who was still sleeping.
This wasn't like her. She wasn't usually this comfortable around a complete stranger she just didn't do this sort of thing. Yet something about him drew her in, like a cozy aura. Loona sat there for a moment, trying to sort through her thoughts.
She got up and moved toward the door. Just before opening it, Loona looked back one last time and noticed a pair of golden eyes staring at her.
"So, um… thanks for letting me stay, but I should really get going before Blitz kills me So… bye," Loona said before darting outside.
"Wait, Loona," Zac called, transforming back into his humanoid form.
"Can I get your number and Blitz's just in case something happens?"
Loona paused, studying him for a moment and taking in his sincere grin. She sighed. "Fine. Hand me your phone."
She took Zac's phone and added her number and Blitz's before handing it back, giving him a small smile. Then she turned and headed for the door.
"There you are. We'll see you at work later," Loona said as she stepped outside.
"Okay then, see you later," Zac replied, moving to sit down on the only couch he owned.
Ding.
"Congratulations, host. For completing the hidden quest Getting a Job, you have earned two rolls."
A red screen popped up, and Zac instantly used them. The display changed into a roulette wheel, spinning as the ball bounced around before landing on Size Augmentation Ability Chip.
The second roll landed on: Congratulations, you have won 1,000 Hell Dollars.
Zac stared at the screen. "Are we serious, system?" he muttered.
"Host, you can't keep winning forever. Your luck has to run out some time," the system chimed.
Tilting his head slightly, Zac asked, "System, what does this do?"
The system replied, "This grants you the ability to change your size at will, but only by making yourself smaller."
"Oh, that's kind of dope. I could use it to get around in small places," Zac said aloud.
Deciding to head to work, Zac stepped outside. "You know what? I could go for some doughnuts," he thought, turning toward the shopping mall again.
As Zac walked through the streets, he noticed more people than before not many, but enough that demons now appeared every now and then on the sidewalks. By the time he reached the mall, foot traffic had increased significantly.
Passing the Vox Tech display again, he noticed an update on the mysterious crater that had appeared overnight. Vox displayed an image of Zac flying toward the edge of town in his true draconic glory.
"Our sources have provided that this is the individual responsible for the crater," Vox announced.
"Well… shit. Guess the cat's almost out of the bag," Zac muttered. After a moment, he shrugged. "I don't really mind. I'm strong enough to protect myself and worst case, I'm strong enough to retreat."
With that, he continued toward the doughnut shop.
Zac ordered six assorted doughnuts and waited in line like everyone else. After paying, he opened the box and grabbed a cookies-and-cream doughnut, using his tail to open the door as he left.
Arriving at work, Zac strode into the building, still holding the box of doughnuts. Entering the IMP office for his first day, he dipped his head so his horns wouldn't hit the doorframe.
"Good morning, everyone."
Moxxie and Millie waved. Loona glanced up from her phone. Blitz stared at the box in Zac's hands, which was held just high enough to hide the logo.
"Good morning. What've you got there, Zac?" Millie asked.
"Hi, Zac and what's in the box?" Moxxie added.
Loona's nose twitched. "Hey… are those doughnuts?"
Blitz looked at Zac with puppy-dog eyes. "Zac, my Favorite employee did you bring those to share?"
Zac chuckled. "Yes, I brought them for everyone."
He set the box down and opened it. Blitz grabbed a chocolate doughnut with sprinkles. Moxxie took a chocolate-covered one with chocolate filling. Millie grabbed a strawberry cream-filled doughnut, and Loona picked a jam-filled one.
"So, Blitz, what's the job for today?" Zac asked.
Blitz cleared his throat after devouring his doughnut. "We're after a human gang leader today, so get ready. Once everyone's done, we're heading out."
While waiting, Zac experimented with his space affinity, trying to lock the space around the tip of his tail. He didn't want to test it on his new friends.
His tail froze for a second before moving again. "Damn… this might be harder than I thought."
"Alrighty, let's go, everyone!" Blitz shouted as he opened a portal to the human world.
Here goes nothing, Zac thought as he stepped through, holding his breath.
When he exhaled on the other side, Zac felt confused. He shouldn't have been able to leave the Pride Ring.
"System," Zac thought. "Why can I leave the Pride Ring?"
"Scanning… Reason found. My creators granted you an additional gift called Hell's Blessing. It negates the curses placed on other sinner demons and makes you more favourable to certain individuals."
Moxxie and Millie stepped through the portal, followed shortly by Blitz.
"Okay, team, we need to be fucking stealthy this time, Moxxie," Blitz said, glaring at him before refocusing. "Follow me."
They arrived at the gang's hideout a warehouse.
"I've got the door," Zac whispered, using the void to silently swallow the lock into a small black hole before dispersing it.
"Holy shit," the group muttered as they slipped inside.
They crept into an open area filled with empty shelves and scrap metal. In the distance, men worked while packing white powder.
"Spread out," Blitz whispered. "Moxxie and Millie go left. Zac and I go right. Try not to get spotted."
As Zac and Blitz split off, they heard a man shouting orders.
"Hurry up, fuckers! We don't pay you to slack off. This shipment was due yesterday!"
Blitz glanced at Zac. Zac nodded.
Blitz aimed his sniper rifle and fired.
Bang.
The gang leader collapsed, his head reduced to a bloody mess.
"Someone killed the boss! Get them!" a voice shouted.
Millie burst forward, knives flashing. She drove one into a gang member's neck, yanked it free with her tail, and stabbed another in the chest.
Moxxie charged a man sneaking up behind her, slicing his head clean off.
Blitz switched to his demonic pistols, gunning down five men with expert precision.
Zac charged another gang member, grabbing him by the neck and slamming him into the floor, killing him instantly.
Then Zac spotted the last remaining gang member aiming a pistol directly at Blitz.
Before anyone could react, the man pulled the trigger.
