Adrian's POV
"I'm telling you, Val, it's not normal," I said into my phone, pacing near the staircase. "There's tension everywhere. Like someone left the emotional stove on."
Valerie sighed on the other end. "Did you at least eat?"
"That's not the point—"
The front door suddenly burst open.
Jay stormed downstairs.
Angry.
Like thunder in human form.
Right behind her—
Keifer.
"I'm not done talking to you!" he snapped.
"Well, I'm done!" Jay shot back.
I blinked.
Valerie paused. "What was that?"
"Live entertainment," I muttered.
Jay grabbed the door handle.
"Jay—" Keifer reached out.
Before she could open it—
Luke's voice floated lazily from the couch.
"What did I miss?"
Both Keifer and Jay turned at the exact same time.
"Keep quiet!" they said together.
Luke blinked.
Then smiled slowly. "Just helping."
"All this is your fault!" Keifer pointed at him.
"It's not his fault!" Jay snapped instantly.
Interesting.
Jay opened the door and stepped outside.
Keifer followed.
Yuri stood up. "What's going on?"
"I'll call you back," I told Valerie quickly and hung up.
We all followed outside.
The air was thick.
"You are always defending him!" Keifer shouted. "Why?"
"What are you talking about?!" Jay said. "I just mentioned his name!"
"Really?" Luke called from behind us. "You mentioned my name? How nice."
"Shut up! Okay, shut up!" Keifer barked.
"Stop shouting!" Jay said.
"I will shout whenever he's here!"
David stepped out. "What's going on?"
"Ask Keifer!" Jay said.
"Ask her!" Keifer shot back.
"No, ask him!"
"No, ask her!"
"Don't ask me," Jay snapped dramatically. "Ask the mighty Mark Keifer Watson!"
Luke suddenly stepped between them like a self-appointed peace ambassador.
"Calm down," he said gently. "Breathe in… breathe ou—"
Slap.
Jay smacked him.
"There was a fly," she said flatly.
Luke blinked.
Then Keifer stepped forward.
Slap.
"Yes," Keifer nodded. "A fly."
Luke stumbled back slightly.
Touched both cheeks.
Then straightened his shirt.
"Continue your fight," he said politely.
Ciel whispered, "Are you okay?"
Yuri patted Luke's shoulder. "Next time, don't play hero."
Jay started walking away down the driveway.
Keifer quickly moved in front of her.
"I'm not done talking to you."
She bent down and picked up a stone.
"Leave my face," she warned, "or I will throw it."
Gasps.
"Not happening," Keifer said. "Not until you tell me what's going on between you and Luke."
"You leave me no choice."
She threw it.
Keifer bent down instantly.
The stone flew past him—
And shattered the window of a black car parked across the street.
Glass cracked loudly.
Everyone froze.
"See?" Jay pointed at Keifer. "This is all your fault!"
"I didn't tell you to throw it!"
"I warned you!"
Yuri slowly raised a hand. "Um… guys?"
"What?" Jay snapped.
"You just broke someone's car window."
"We are busy!" Jay said.
The car door opened.
A man stepped out.
Silence fell like a curtain.
He walked toward us calmly.
"Excuse me," the man said politely.
Keifer turned briefly. "Give me a sec."
Then turned back to Jay.
Jay picked up another stone.
"Leave my face," she warned again, "or I will throw it. This time I won't miss."
"All you know is stones?" Keifer muttered.
She threw it.
Keifer moved aside.
The stone flew straight—
And hit the man's nose.
A very clear sound.
Everyone gasped.
The man staggered slightly.
Keifer blinked. "Oh… Jay. You hit the postman."
"Sorry!" Jay said quickly. "Please leave the post and go!"
Yuri rubbed his face. "Keifer… he's not the postman."
"What?"
"He's the owner of the car you just broke."
Jay froze.
"Oh no. I am so sorry. Are you okay?"
The man slowly lifted his head.
"Yes… yes, I'm fine."
He was not fine.
His nose was clearly bleeding.
Adrian brain activated.
"Luke," I said, "you're a doctor, right? Please see him."
Luke sighed dramatically. "Yes. The fly clinic is open."
He walked toward the man.
Jay turned to Keifer again. "This is all your fault."
"Why did you throw the stone?!" Keifer argued.
"Because you made me!"
"I didn't—"
"You did!"
Meanwhile Luke examined the man's nose.
"You'll live," Luke said lightly. "Which is good. Dying over driveway drama would be embarrassing."
"I'm okay," the man insisted. "I will go to the hospital."
"Are you sure?" Keifer asked. "This man is a doctor. Let him treat you."
The man hesitated.
Looked at Luke.
Something passed between them.
Fast.
Subtle.
Strange.
"I'm fine," the man said quickly. "I have to go. Okay. Bye."
He returned to the car.
Started it.
Drove away.
Silence.
Confused silence.
Then—
Another car pulled up.
Percy stepped out.
Looked at the broken glass on the ground.
Looked at us.
Looked at Jay holding another stone.
Looked at Luke .
"…Why are you guys out here?"
Nobody answered.
Because honestly?
We weren't even sure anymore.
And the best part?
No one knows what started the fight.
Not Percy. Not David. Not Yuri. Not even me.
Just chaos. Stones. And a very suspicious black car.
