Chapter 116 - Chapter 111: Juice

Jay's POV

We were all sitting in the living room like nothing dramatic had just happened outside.

Broken window.

Bleeding nose.

Public embarrassment.

Normal afternoon activities.

The maid quietly brought in a tray of fruit juice.

Mango. Pineapple. Orange.

She placed it on the table and left without making eye contact.

Smart woman.

Percy leaned back in his chair. "So. What's going on?"

I crossed my arms.

"It's Keifer," I said. "He gets jealous for no reason."

Keifer's head snapped toward me. "No reason?"

"Yes. No reason."

"I saw you two kissing!" he said.

The room froze.

Percy gasped loudly. "Really?!"

"No!" I shot back immediately.

Yuri leaned forward. "Wait, so you didn't?"

"No!"

Keifer frowned. "I literally—"

"You literally misunderstood," I cut in.

Percy looked between us like he was watching a tennis match. "So who are you two fighting over?"

Luke casually raised his hand.

"It's me, please."

David choked on his juice.

Percy blinked slowly. "Because of you these two are fighting?"

Luke stood up calmly and walked over to me.

He sat beside me.

Too close.

He leaned slightly toward me and said something softly in Spanish.

"El fuego solo arde donde hay gasolina."

Everyone stared.

"…What?" Yuri said.

Ciel squinted. "Was that a spell?"

I frowned. "What did you just say?"

Luke smiled faintly. "Nothing important."

Keifer stood up. "Leave her side."

Luke looked at Percy instead. "See?"

Percy nodded thoughtfully. "Okay. This is jealousy."

"Thank you," Luke said politely.

Then he stood up again.

Walked over.

And sat beside Keifer instead.

Keifer stiffened.

Luke lifted his glass of juice and examined it.

"You know," Luke said thoughtfully, "juice is funny."

Keifer glared at him. "What are you talking about?"

Luke swirled the drink gently.

"If it's too sweet, you don't trust it."

He glanced sideways at Keifer.

"If it's too sour, you complain."

He leaned closer.

"But if it's balanced…"

He lightly tapped his glass against Keifer's.

"…you drink it before someone else does."

Clink.

He smiled.

"Cheers."

Then he drank.

Keifer's jaw tightened. "Why are you even here? You've been here all day and you're just causing trouble."

Luke nodded. "Yes. True."

He stood up casually. "It's time for me to go."

Then he looked at me.

"Expect me tomorrow."

"Sure," I replied without thinking.

"Step foot here and see what happens," Keifer warned.

Luke adjusted his sleeve. "I'll take that as a yes."

He finished the rest of his juice in one dramatic gulp.

Set the glass down carefully.

Then walked toward the door.

Before leaving, he turned slightly.

"Try not to throw stones at visitors while I'm gone."

He winked.

And left.

Silence.

Heavy silence.

Then Percy cleared his throat.

"So."

I turned to him. "What are you doing here?"

"I came to inform you guys," Percy said calmly, "that you'll be going back to school in one month to two weeks."

"What?!" Yuri exclaimed.

"So soon?!" Ciel added.

David groaned. "I haven't emotionally recovered from today and now this?"

Adrian leaned back. "One month and two weeks is not that soon."

"It is," I said. "You came. You should have brought good news. But you didn't."

Percy shrugged. "At least you have time to deal with your enemy."

I paused.

Then nodded slowly. "Yes. That's true."

Enemy.

The word sat strangely in my chest.

"I'm tired," I said suddenly. "I'm going to sleep."

Keifer scoffed. "Oh, now your little boyfriend is gone, you want to go sleep?"

I looked at him sweetly.

"Yes."

I stood up.

"I might even dream of my cute boyfriend."

Gasps.

"Unbelievable," Keifer muttered.

I walked upstairs without looking back.

Inside my room, I closed the door.

The noise downstairs faded.

I went to the bathroom.

Turned on the shower.

Let the water wash away the chaos.

Changed into something comfortable.

Sat on my bed.

My phone rang.

Aries.

I answered.

"Aries…"

I stared at the ceiling.

"Do you know…"
