Chapter 23 - Chapter 20: Disaster

Keifer's POV

Jayjay crossed her arms and pointed at Keiren.

"You only won last chapter because he distracted me."

I frowned. "Me?"

"Yes," she said calmly. "You were shirtless."

Keiren laughed so hard he almost fell off the couch.

I decided to disappear before things escalated. I went upstairs, took a quick bath, changed into a brand-new shirt, and came back down.

Jayjay stood up. "I'm getting snacks."

"Bring me some!" Keiren shouted.

She turned slowly. "No."

Minutes later, she returned with chips and soda and sat down peacefully. Keiren reached for a can.

She smacked his hand away. "I said no."

Keiren grabbed one anyway.

PSSSHH!

The soda exploded straight into his face.

Jayjay burst out laughing, almost choking.

Keiren wiped his face. "Oh… so we're choosing violence."

He grabbed another can and lunged toward Jayjay—but she dodged, and the soda poured directly onto Keagan's head.

Keagan froze.

"…I didn't even do anything."

Jayjay dropped to the floor laughing.

That's when Keiren charged again. I stepped between them.

"Okay, enough—"

Keiren suddenly jumped onto my back, his arms locking around my shoulders.

"GET DOWN!"

Instead, he dragged his hands down my back, wiping soda, dust, and chip crumbs all over my shirt.

I groaned. "KEIREN! I JUST BOUGHT THIS SHIRT!"

Jayjay paused mid-laugh and looked at me.

"Then why would you wear a new shirt now?"

I stared at her. "Because you're here, duh."

She blinked.

Then laughed even harder.

Keiren kicked his legs like a kid on a piggy ride. I stumbled, nearly knocking over a chair. Jayjay slid across the floor, throwing a pillow at Keiren. Keiren grabbed it and hit her back. Keagan tried to stand, slipped on a chip, and sat right back down.

That's when the maid walked in.

She looked at the overturned cushions, soda on the floor, chips everywhere.

"I just cleaned this place…"

I glanced at her from the stairs and whispered, "Sorry. Don't worry. We'll clean everything ourselves."

She sighed and walked away.

That somehow made everything worse.

Jayjay knocked over the snack bowl while trying to escape. Keiren skidded across the floor in socks. I finally shook him off—but he took a lamp with him. Keagan tried to save the lamp and nearly fell again.

Chaos. Absolute chaos.

After a long cleanup and a lot of blaming, exhaustion finally won.

We collapsed onto the couch.

Keagan sighed. "Why did I help clean? I didn't even do anything. I was the one attacked."

Keiren shrugged. "It's life."

I nodded. "True."

We all turned to Jayjay.

She was already fast asleep.

We laughed quietly.

I pulled Jayjay into my arms. A moment later, Keiren slipped in too, half asleep. Keagan lay down next to Keiren.

And just like that… silence.
