Jay-Jay's POV
I slammed the car door a little harder than necessary and walked straight to my car—the one Keifer gave me.
Once inside, I sat back and folded my arms.
I was annoyed. Very annoyed.
But… I was also smiling.
The way Keifer had laughed earlier kept replaying in my head, and no matter how much I tried to stay angry, it tugged at my lips. I sighed and stared at the steering wheel.
Idiot, I thought. Why is he still funny even when he's annoying me?
A knock suddenly tapped on my window.
I assumed it was Keifer.
I ignored it.
The knocking continued—but this time, it wasn't random.
It had rhythm.
Tap. Tap-tap. Tap.
My heart skipped.
I knew that beat.
It was the beat of the silly song Chantelle once made about me and Keifer.
I turned slowly and looked out the window.
Chantelle.
I rolled the window down. "You're not serious."
She grinned. "I won't let you sit alone in this car. It's been a month, oh. A whole month since I last sat in here."
Before I could argue, she opened the door and jumped in.
We were just about to drive off when a figure stepped right in front of the car.
Keifer.
I groaned.
He leaned down to the window, and before he could talk, I started—mocking his voice perfectly.
"Oh Jay-Jay, I was just laughing with Sienna. Oh Jay-Jay, I might go to a night pool party."
Chantelle gasped dramatically. "Eii, yhin that party? I heard it's going to be lit. Plenty sexy girls too."
Keifer shot her a deadly glare.
She immediately pretended to examine the seat. "Hmm. Nice leather."
I smirked and looked at Keifer. "Gago."
He blinked. "Properly?"
"See if you can enjoy that ride," I added, starting the engine.
"I'll call you when I get home," he said quickly.
"I won't pick," I replied. "Why bother calling me if you'll be busy with sexy girls?"
He reached for the door handle.
I moved the car forward slightly.
He stepped back.
I leaned out just enough to smile sweetly.
"Bye, Mark Keifer Watson."
Then I drove off.
Chantelle burst into laughter beside me as we disappeared down the road.
Keifer's POV
I stood there for a second.
Alone.
Then I sighed and walked back to my car.
As I started the engine, my phone rang.
Percy.
I picked up. "Yeah?"
"Why did you call me earlier?" he asked.
"I needed Jay-Jay to believe I was serious," I said.
There was a pause. "Where is she now?"
I muttered under my breath, "Your little sister drove off because she thinks I'm actually going to that pool party."
"What the hell?" Percy snapped.
"Nothing," I said quickly.
Then—
A voice.
Clear. Too clear.
"Your little sister drove off and left him alone because he's going for a pool party."
I froze.
I looked around the car. "Percy… are you with someone?"
Before he could answer, the voice spoke again.
"Hello. I'm Ci-N."
My grip tightened on the steering wheel.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
Silence.
And that's when I knew—
This day was far from over.
