"Fair point." He pushed off from the tree and walked over, his eyes doing that automatic scan he always did when I arrived, checking for signs that something was wrong. "How are you feeling?"
"If one more person asks me that question I'm going to start charging a fee."
"Noted. How's your back?"
"Terrible. Next question."
"Have you eaten today?"
I paused. "Why are you asking questions like my mates?"
"Because your mates are busy dealing with territorial threats and someone needs to make sure you're actually taking care of yourself."
"I'm taking care of myself."
"Rowan."
"I had toast."
"Toast is not a meal."
"It is if you're too nauseous to eat anything else."
Something flickered across his face. Concern, probably. He was getting less good at hiding it. "The nausea is back?"
"It comes and goes. Dorian says it's normal for this stage. Everything is apparently normal according to Dorian, even when it feels deeply abnormal to me."
