Chapter Forty-Seven – Paranormal Realm 45
The drive back home felt longer than it should have.
Maybe because I kept dozing off against Damon's shoulder. Or maybe because I knew what was waiting for me when we got there.
My parents.
Who were probably losing their minds right now.
The sun was just starting to come up, painting the sky in soft oranges and pinks. It was pretty. Peaceful. The complete opposite of how I felt inside.
Nicklaus was driving this time, his injuries from last night already looking better. Werewolf healing was insane. The cuts on his face were almost gone, and he wasn't favoring his ribs anymore. Still, I kept catching myself staring at him, making sure he was really okay.
"You're staring," he said without looking at me.
I felt my face heat up. "I'm not."
"You are," Damon added helpfully from beside me.
"I'm just making sure he's not about to pass out from blood loss or something," I muttered.
Nicklaus smiled. "I told you, I'm fine."
