"Nina and Jax weren't always awakened."
Silence.
West continued.
"I made them into awakened."
Nobody reacted.
For a second.
Then—
"Eh?"
His mother stared at him.
His father blinked.
Liz's mouth opened slightly.
Aria looked at Jax.
Aunt Mirabel frowned.
Nina simply sat there.
Jax scratched his cheek.
West repeated himself.
"I made Jax and Nina into awakened."
His mother leaned forward.
"What?"
"I can create awakeners."
Silence.
Complete silence.
His mother stared at him as though he'd just told her gravity was optional.
"You…"
She slowly stood.
"You can create an awakened human?"
West nodded.
"Yes."
"How?"
"I can't explain everything."
"Why?"
"Because even I don't completely understand all of it."
His mother looked almost offended by the answer.
