Chapter 5 - Reason

MINERVA CAMPBELL:

Sunny day, very sunny even. This doesn't come by as much in this new world.

A man trips and falls face first onto the concrete, a few candy kids far out running around playing and even a weird cloud resembling a bear.

"Finn had a cute bear hat", I muttered quietly.

I gazed down at everything, barely visible from my blue tinted glass window that stood almost sixty feet in the air or maybe it's just because I'm getting old.

I along with the rest of a survivors managed to build this safe haven for all survivors from all the universes.

It's honestly a miracle it all worked out and so quickly at that. We did so much and without any of my robotic clones, there's some semblance of peace now.

A large town with no main name but I guess we can say this is Ooo, it's truly a blessing what we have here but my mind is trobuled.

It's been trobuled for months, I can't stop thinking of Finn, my Finn. So many variants died, so many people have been killed, I'd estimate that about eighty percent of everyone in the universe is dead so why do I keep thinking he could be alive.

I gave up on him before so why now do I cling on so deeply, is it because of Yaeger saying they need him, could be a different one.

I walked away from the window and to my large wooden desk, taking back the seat to make space then sitting on it and closing my eyes.

All I've done is build gear and research all day but what is all this even for.

Footsteps slowly getting louder, closer. My office door burst open, a girl entered through, one of the first people we recruited actually.

"Fiona?! What's wrong?!", I questioned frantically.

She turned to me while catching her breath, I had no clue why she would even run in her office clothes, slicking back her long blonde hair a small smile was visible.

"They…found him".

"Who??".

"They found Finn, your Finn".

FARM WORLD FINN:

This is bad, can we take on these guys by ourselves. I turned to Simon who was kinda shocked by the explosion then at Jake who stood confidently glaring at them.

"We can't run and I'm not about to let these guys think they worth shit".

His words gave me courage, even if my face didn't show it. To my near right, an axe had flown from the house relatively unscathed.

I picked up the luck charm and stood by Jake, "Never thought I'd be fighting by my dog".

"Well, now you are".

"Ohh, they seem to want to fight", one of the cloaked men said.

He took off his cloth revealing his crimson hair, fire hair and body. His golden armour was slick and sharp, not charring or burning at all.

He smiled at us, the cocky grin plastered on his face. "Finn the Farmer, Jake the Dog, Yaeger calls for you".

"We are allowed to get aggressive if you refuse but it's not like I'm not up for it".

The second one walked infront of him removing only the hood of his cloak and said, "We hope not to need to get physical, just agree and you'll have no injuries".

He had grey skin with short hair that had weird bangs up front and his gaze was cold, his red eyes far from a clear depiction of his demeanour.

Wasting no time however Jake charged at them, his left arm enlarging like a balloon.

He swung it with great speed, the impact sent a small shockwave back. Dirt and snow hurled at me causing me to shut my eyes but Jake had landed the hit, at least that's what I thought.

The cloaked man's palm, now as big if not bigger than Jake's wrapped around his fist.

Even from behind, I could tell the shock he felt was immense. The man looked at him and said, "Why so surprised? You didn't think you were the only one with these powers, did you?!".

He let out a chuckle and said, "Just wait till you see my brother". Then he used his other hand and landed an uppercut on him, sending him into the air with great force.

Jake shook his head, gaining back his composure before gigantifying his two fists and slamming it into the ground.

They managed to dodge however, darting backwards but Jake left no time for them. Immediately blitzing to the cloaked one as the crash into a mountain a ways back.

"Well, seems as though we forgot about our fight over here. It's me and you pal".

I glanced back at Simon who was now a few metres back. "Yeah I guess so".

"I'm not the type to hold back", I said while reading my axe in my main arm.

"Oh that won't be a problem", he said before rushing at me.

I rushed back at him swinging my axe at his head as soon as he was close enough but with a swift move, he evaded it.

Time seemed to slow as I readied another attack then I noticed all his footprints on the snow started to glow, almost like they were slowly turning on a lightbulb.

Their crimson red colour brightening as I took a step to cut back, that's when it finally dawned on me.

Then he yelled by my side, loud and proud, "Boom!!".

A series of quick explosions erupted only a few metres from me, I was flung back, crashing to the ground about three times before stopping myself with the axe.

My head got dizzy immediately, tapping my temple with my hand but it came away with blood, my blood.

He laughed, hysterically so like a crazed Hyena. "Oh come on, you can't be done yet!".

I got back onto my feet an glared at him, his grinned faltered for a moment before he said, "Good boy".
