"This… how is this possible?"

Currently, U.S. warships were patrolling near Cuban waters. According to intelligence, Soviet ships were expected to cross the border today.

Yet the imagined outbreak of war never came. The Soviet fleet remained stationary.

It seemed that the U.S. high command's order—to strike immediately if Soviet forces crossed—was utterly absurd in hindsight.

But even as the threat of world war quietly evaporated, General William realized an even graver truth.

A group of monsters had appeared, wielding powers so terrifying they rivaled demons themselves.

Even a tsunami could not faze these beings, and the air and naval forces were already on standby.

Then, William's eyes widened in disbelief. At the center of a massive missile explosion, a figure bathed in golden light was absorbing the blasts—completely unharmed.

"My God… is this even human?" William gasped, beads of sweat forming on his brow. His aide was equally pale with fear.

Through the porthole, they saw the Asian man who had absorbed the missile energy raise just his right index finger.

Boom!

At that moment, Lancelot felt the incredible surge of energy coursing through him. He could manipulate and release it effortlessly.

With a simple gesture, a dazzling red energy orb formed at his fingertip, instantly expanding into multiple beams of searing red light that struck a nearby battleship.

Rumble!

The enormous vessel erupted in a blinding explosion. Soldiers inside scattered like ants thrown into boiling water.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Within moments, the ship shattered in a chain reaction of detonations, sinking beneath the waves.

"Fire! Quick, fire!" General William shouted in panic over the radio, unable to comprehend the scene.

Another volley of missiles launched into the night sky.

Lancelot observed them with casual interest. Behind him, Magneto extended his right hand, suspending all the missiles midair.

Clang-clang-clang.

The metallic collision echoed ominously. With a mere flick of his wrist, Magneto redirected every missile.

"What the—!" Soldiers and officers alike panicked; some dropped to their knees in frantic prayer.

"Erik, don't…" Professor X said gravely from the island. His tone bore the weight of unbearable persuasion. On one hand, he could not bear the thought of so much death. On the other, if U.S. warships were destroyed here, the highest leaders would undoubtedly escalate to full-scale war.

"Mercy only strengthens the enemy," Lancelot said, his gaze cold as he turned to Professor X.

"Thunder's wrath is enough to terrify them."

Professor X's philosophy of kindness and compromise clashed violently with Lancelot's brutal pragmatism.

"Continue, Erik," Lancelot commanded, ignoring the professor entirely.

"As you wish, my king," Magneto replied, nodding fervently. With a gesture, the missiles reversed course, returning to where they had come from.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Explosions rocked the open sea. Ships went silent as if swallowed by the chaos of war.

"Go… eliminate them." Lancelot hovered midair, issuing orders with regal detachment.

Following his command, Phantoms led twelve mutants aboard a warship, while former Hellfire Club members Red Devil Azazel and Hei Huangxiao were teleported to another vessel.

Inside the ships, Gambit Remy's hands threw explosive cards, toppling armed soldiers instantly.

Saber-tooth Victor transformed into a five-meter-tall beast, tearing through the vessel with devastating force.

One by one, the mutants unleashed their powers. Magneto, suspended above, became the most efficient instrument of destruction, toppling and sinking the ships with a simple wave of his hands.

An hour later, the open sea was eerily empty. On the island, Professor X and the X-Men stood frozen, horrified, staring at the battlefield-like waters before them.

"What… what did you do?" Agent Morla, still firing sporadically, pointed her gun at Lancelot in disbelief.

"Oh, this fish slipped through the net," Lancelot replied, landing casually and studying her with mild amusement.

He hadn't even noticed that Morla had arrived on the island, shielded by Professor X's powers. His subconscious had simply ignored her presence.

"Morla, put down your weapon," Professor X said, concern in his voice.

But Morla, enraged at the destruction of the U.S. fleet, had lost all composure. She fired.

Bang!

Lancelot merely watched the bullet, calm as ever. Beside him, Magneto flicked his hand, sending the projectile spinning harmlessly… right through Professor X's chest.

Seeing the professor collapse, even Lancelot hesitated.

"Xavier's paralysis is fate," Lancelot said, shaking his head at the remorseful Magneto and Morla. He stepped forward, grabbed Morla by the collar, and lifted her.

"My king… please forgive Morla," Professor X pleaded, wincing at Lancelot's icy gaze.

"She is but a human child. Since you intervened, what harm is there in letting her go?"

"But saving lives always comes at a cost."

"Professor X, if you do not wish to see war, then use your power to prevent it," Lancelot said, tossing Morla to the ground.

"Come. Return with me to the Mutant House. The Cerebral Wave Amplifier should be ready."

He gestured to the mutants surrounding him, forming a circle.

Bang! Bang!

With the arrival of two Phantoms, all mutants vanished from the island.

The first battle of mutants had only just begun to show its consequences.
