Chapter 24 - Episode 23

Inside the car, Stiles and Sean were talking about the past few days.

Stiles "Where have you been, man? No one could find you… I thought you were dead."

Sean "Thanks for worrying. I was dealing with a few problems. I was trying to take control of myself. During the full moon, I felt like I completely lost it. I still feel that way, at least a little."

Stiles "Yeah, I can tell. From the way you talk… and physically too. What exactly happened, Sean?"

Sean "I don't know. It just feels like something snapped, Stiles. Like I'm starting to feel numb to death."

Stiles' eyes widened, and in shock, he slammed the brakes."What?! What do you mean? Did you kill someone? You wouldn't say that unless you did."

Sean sighed and looked up at the sky "One… I wish it had only been one." There was sadness in his voice. Stiles didn't say anything and drove in silence for a while.

As they approached the school, Stiles finally spoke again "No matter what happens, I'm with you, Sean. Even if you killed someone… I feel like you were forced into it."

Sean listened to Stiles' words.

Forced? Should I tell him I enjoyed it? That it felt like there was nothing better to do in this world? Watching them die with curiosity as their guts spilled out? Watching the light fade from their eyes?

When they arrived at school, Sean opened the door and got out, catching up to Stiles as he ran inside.

When Stiles opened the locker room door, Scott was sitting there like he was questioning his entire life.

Stiles "Dude… a lot of things happened."

Scott lifted his head."I know."Then his eyes widened in shock when he saw someone else."Sean?!"

Sean chuckled as he stepped inside."You look a little beaten up, Scott. Guess those two got to you before us."

Scott nodded."Yeah… and it was really exhausting."

The three of them didn't talk much and went home. On the way, Stiles and Scott talked while Sean lay back in the rear seat, just listening. When they arrived, Sean got out without saying a word and went inside.

Melissa had already come home from work and was tidying up the kitchen.

Melissa "Scott, you're late again today. Did you do your homework?"

Sean smiled."I don't know, Mom. I swear you still have at least one lazy son. Of course, I'm not talking about myself… you know that."

His voice was teasing, but there was sadness underneath. He had missed her.

Melissa froze when she heard the familiar voice. She turned around, dropped what she was doing, and saw Sean. She was shocked by how much he had changed but more than anything, she ran to him and hugged him tightly.

Sean seemed to expect the sudden hug. He hugged her back and gently patted her head."Hey, hey, Mom. No crying. You know I'm not dead. I just had a few problems and came home late for a few days."

Melissa pulled back, her eyes red "Sean… I thought you were dead, my son. My handsome boy you've gotten even more handsome."

She touched his face with motherly affection.

Sean held her hand "I'm sorry, Mom. I made you worry. I'm just tired. I want to rest now that I'm home."

Melissa nodded "Alright. Get some proper rest. When you feel better, we'll go to the hospital and get you checked."

Sean nodded and walked to his room. The first thing he did was strip and go straight into the bathroom. After the shower, the wounds and dried blood washed away with the water.

When he came out, he stood in front of the full-length mirror and looked at himself.

Jet-black hair reaching down to his neck. Dark eyes that pierced the night. Facial features that looked as if they had been carved by angels.

Then he looked at his new body.

Not overly muscular, not too thin but the muscle definition was breathtaking. Every line was perfectly shaped. His abs were sharply defined.

He smiled.

He liked this werewolf thing.

He turned away from the mirror, lay down on the bed, and fell asleep from exhaustion.

When he woke up again, it was afternoon almost evening. School had ended hours ago. He figured Scott would be home soon.

His stomach growled, and he went to the kitchen. His mother was there, and as if she had expected this, she pointed at the food on the table.

Sean "Thanks, Mom."

He ate quickly.

After he finished, Scott came home, rushed upstairs, and turned up the volume on his phone. His teacher was giving him forty-eight hours to complete his homework.

Sean chuckled.Scott being Scott.

Just then, someone knocked on the door.

Melissa went to open it.

Melissa "You?"

Allison "I'm Allison. Is Scott home?"

Melissa "Oh yes, yes. He's home. Come in."

Allison hesitated for a moment, then stepped inside. As she walked down the hallway, she saw Sean sitting at the table, looking at his phone. She flinched "You?"

Sean turned his head and smiled "Oh, hi Allison. Welcome. Scott's upstairs."

Allison shook her head slightly. Something about him felt different from what she remembered. For a brief moment, she felt like the person from last night the one with Kate had a familiar face. Then she pushed the thought away.

Allison "Scott said you disappeared."

Sean "Yeah. I had to stay somewhere else for a few days. My phone broke, so I couldn't tell anyone."

Allison "My dad was looking for you too. He asked everyone in Beacon Hills about you."

Sean smiled "The old man really seems to care about me, doesn't he? It's fine. I'll talk to him later. Thanks for telling me."

Allison nodded and headed upstairs.

Scott suddenly opened his door "Mom, now's not a good Allison?"

Allison stepped inside.

While Scott and Allison stayed in the room, Sean noticed his mother getting ready for something. He didn't ask and waited. After a while, Melissa finished getting ready and came upstairs with Sean.

She opened the door suddenly "Scott, I'll be late tonight."

Scott and Allison stood up at the same time.

Melissa "What? Is something wrong? My makeup? My hair?"

Scott "No, no. Nothing. You look great, Mom."

Allison "Yes, you look amazing."

Sean "Yeah, you really look perfect, Mom but where exactly are you going?"

Melissa "I was thinking of going on a date. I met him at the hospital."

Just then, the doorbell rang.

Melissa "Sean, Scott go open the door."

Sean went downstairs with Scott right behind him.

As Sean opened the door, a familiar feeling washed over him. The moment he saw who it was, a wave of anger surged through his body.

Scott tried to slam the door shut, but Peter held it open "Come on, are you really going to shut the door in my face?"

Scott "If you're here to threaten our mom."

Peter cut him off. "Relax, Scott. I don't want to hear your perfect threats. You know I've been in a coma for seven years, and I have every right to go on a date with a beautiful woman. Or… maybe I'll turn your mother into a werewolf to convince you."

GROWL.

The air dropped below freezing.

A suffocating killing intent burst from Sean. His eyes turned golden as he pushed Scott aside and took a few calm steps forward.

He stopped in front of Peter and stared into his eyes. Darkness slowly crept behind the golden pupils. The killing intent intensified. The house shook as if an earthquake were happening, and the wind howled in fear.

Peter flinched.

A beta had made him flinch.

But what truly terrified him was the shadow in Sean's eyes and the pure, refined killing intent behind it.

Sean "If even a single hair on her head is harmed… I'll forget our agreement, Peter. I don't care whether you're an Alpha or not. If anything happens to my mother, remember this eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth, blood for blood."

The sky thundered as he spoke.

Peter stayed silent. He knew exactly how much it hurt when family was touched.

Sean continued, cutting him off before he could speak "And don't forget, Mr. Alpha. You can't stop me. You know that. I would gladly become a monster for revenge just like you. But tell me… who do you think would be the bigger monster? You… or me?"

It was as if the chains holding the killing intent snapped. The intent took physical form, black and crimson energy seeping from Sean's body. After a few seconds, it vanished.

Melissa approached from behind "Hey, why aren't you inviting him in? Anyway, I'm ready."

Sean's eyes slowly returned to normal. He turned to his mother like nothing had happened "Mom, you look beautiful. You really suit this gentleman."

Peter smiled as if nothing had happened "Well then, let's go."

Scott collapsed to the floor, staring at Sean like he didn't recognize him.

Scott "What was that?! It was like.."

Sean "It was nothing. Let's go. I'll call Stiles. You tell your girlfriend what's going on. If needed, we'll drop her off later."

His voice was firm and clear.

Scott ran upstairs. Sean called Stiles.

They gathered quickly and jumped into Stiles' car.

Sean "Drive as fast as you can, Stiles. I don't trust that bastard to hold himself back."

His voice carried concern but also something darker.

Stiles slammed the gas pedal, and they sped off.

Elsewhere, Peter and Melissa had pulled over.

Peter reached out and touched Melissa's cheek "I never realized how flawless your skin is."

Melissa dropped her phone in surprise and bent down to pick it up. As she did, Peter's eyes slowly turned red. Suddenly, another car crashed into them. Peter flinched, and his eyes returned to normal.

Melissa quickly got out of the car.

As Peter was about to step out, he felt something strange on his neck. Looking in the mirror, he saw a shadow shaped like claws gripping his throat.

He clenched his fist, then stepped outside and saw Stiles' car.

Peter smile and "Well done, Scott and Sean. Very clever. But can you reach everyone? What about Jackson? He knows a lot about us."

Scott suddenly moved and ran toward the Hale house.

Sean "Scott, you go first. I'll come after."

-----------

At the Hale house…

Derek and Jackson were inside.

Jackson looked at Derek desperately "Please don't kill me. I'll leave Scott alone. I swear. I don't deserve this."

Derek "You deserve it."

Jackson "No!"

Derek "Look around! Is there anyone who can save you? No one cares about your expensive car. No one cares about your perfect hair. No one cares that you're the lacrosse captain. No one is coming to save you. No one!"

A voice came from the top of the stairs "Excuse me."

Scott looked at them "He'll be the assistant captain."

He jumped down and transformed, staring briefly at Jackson before turning to Derek.

Derek transformed as well and roared.

Derek "Move."

Scott "No."

Derek "Then I'll kill you too."

An arrow suddenly flew in.

Derek shouted "Close your eyes!"

A flashbang exploded.

The house was sprayed with gunfire. Scott couldn't dodge one of the bullets and was hit.

Derek saw him "Scott, go!"

He forced the door open and roared.

Derek fought the hunters but was eventually overwhelmed. As several hunters dragged him away, Sean arrived at the scene.

He sensed Scott's condition from a distance. When he got closer, he saw black blood pouring from Scott's mouth.

As Sean was about to move, he saw Deaton the veterinarian. Deaton grabbed Scott and left.

Sean watched Deaton desperately trying to keep Scott alive.

Then he turned away.

Too much had changed.

Sean's eyes burned gold, piercing through the darkness and blazing with rage.
