They moved towards the stone structures and began to investigate them. The area was plain. So there was no place to hide. They looked as far as their eyes went. But there was no one except for them. They couldn't even see any animal. They were in a barren wasteland.
"Can the third sky really be here?" Melfer asked.
"Doesn't look like…" Elna said. "It's all empty. There is not even an animal, let alone humans."
Felmer looked here and there and saw a statue in the middle of the weapon structures. He walked near it and stood in front of it. It showed two men laughing, and their swords crossed in the air.
'Lord Emayla and Larnet, may be?' Felmer thought. He had never seen them, so he didn't know.
Melfer and Elna joined him as well. They stood beside him and looked at it. As Felmer looked at the swords, he saw a sand clock between the pommels. It felt like a glass one rather than a stone one. He got near, stood under it and tried to reach his hand. After some struggle, he touched the glass clock, and it fell. He stared at it, but nothing happened.
After some time, they thought they were in the wrong place and turned back. But as they walked back, Felmer heard something falling. He looked back and saw white sand falling from the clock. He got near and saw it fall. Elna and Melfer stopped as well.
'What is this?' Felmer thought.
"You broke an ancient clock," Melfer said.
As they looked at the white sand, they noticed that it wasn't finished. It had been falling for some time.
'The clock wasn't big enough for such a large amount of sand.' Felmer thought.
He stared at the falling sand. He placed his hand on the statue and cut his index finger on a sharp corner. He wiped his handkerchief over the cut and again looked at the sand. He touched the falling sand, and it reacted with his blood. In the next blink, they were in a different world. A vast white world that went as far as their eyes could see. It felt endless.
"Welcome, master Felmer. I am the third sky, Werza Alore." A voice said from their back.
They turned and saw a man wearing a black robe of fine silk over his white clothes. He was relatively younger than the previous two.
"How do you?" Felmer was shocked that he knew about him.
"The magic in our body contains our memories. As the white sand reacted with your blood, I saw that you had met the first and the second sky. This helps me in recognising who arrives in this realm." The man said with a calm voice.
"Wait? You said realm, right?" Elna was shocked. "This means our consciousness is here and our physical bodies are back there lying on the ground."
"Yes, I am aware of that. And also of the people following you. The king sends them. They have attempted to enter here numerous times." The man said and stopped. "If you are afraid they may take away your bodies, then don't worry. The faster you complete this trial, the better your chance of saving yourselves." He then looked at Felmer. "Ready for the trial?"
Felmer took a deep breath and understood the situation. He looked at the man and tried to understand him. He was a stern and composed man. He thought about his question and gave his answer.
'The faster I complete the trial? Fine then…' Felmer thought.
"Yes, I am…"
