Chapter 7- Fiona Vaylor (Part 2)
Staring at Fiona was akin to staring at a Goddess from the skies above. Her beauty was simply out of this world. Everything about her was perfect, and her aura was otherworldly. She carried herself in a way that kept her cold yet captivating, like a dream passing by that you would never forget. Constantly and eternally out of reach.
Even for someone like Elio, it was hard not to just stare at her silently and admire her mesmerizing beauty. However, at that moment, he was far too panicked to care about that.
"Ehem, I really need to go. I have to get back to class."
"It won't take long. I need to ask you a few questions, if possible." She replied calmly.
"Ummm, what would you even need to ask me? I'm just a nobody. Thank you for helping me earlier. Now, if you will excuse m-"
"I said, sit down."
The third time, her tone changed as she gave Elio a cold look, one filled with immense authority and no room to turn down her offer. The boy felt a chill run down his spine before he nodded his head and warily sat down at the edge of the seat.
He couldn't even find the words to say anything at that moment. 'I'm so screwed… I'm so monumentally screwed…'
His mind was in a fight-or-flight state. But, he can't move, or Fiona would probably kill him, or worse. The way she severed that monster's head was like slicing through cake. She did not even bat an eye.
For long, brutal seconds, Elio sat there, waiting for Fiona to start speaking. He knew that at this point, it was a given fact that she knew that he didn't forget what happened yesterday. Yet, surprisingly, she didn't seem perturbed by that at all.
"Say. Your name is Elio, correct?"
"... Y-Yeah. E-Elio Ashenblood." He replied after clearing his throat.
"Ashenblood? What an interesting last name you have."
"Yeah…"
Elio had always found his last name rather odd, but his grandmother told him to take pride in that name and to keep its integrity for as long as he lived. He simply didn't care much about it as it was a last name as any other last name.
"Well, I will cut to the chase. Do you still remember what happened yesterday?" She asked as she turned to face him. "I saw that drawing, and that is most definitely a Vampire, isn't it?"
"... V-Vampire?" Elio stared back at her, pursing his lips. 'Should I lie? No, that would clearly be a dumb idea. She isn't stupid, she definitely knows.'
At that point, Elio had given up the idea of resisting. He was afraid he would only dig a bigger hole for himself, so he decided that the truth was far more merciful. Whatever happens because of it, he was ready.
"Honestly… Yes…" He sighed and nodded his head.
"I see. Do you remember everything that occurred?"
"Yes. Aside from a white light that blinded me for a second, I didn't forget anything."
"Interesting…"
For some reason, Fiona seemed quite curious as she stared at him intently, as if he were some kind of exotic animal.
"Can I try something if you don't mind?"
"... What?"
"Don't move."
Saying that, Fiona touched his forehead with the tips of her fingers before she snapped with her other hand. The same white flash of light assaulted Elio's mind before his vision came back as he blinked.
"..."
"..."
"Ummm, am I supposed to feel something different?"
"..." Fiona stared at him silently as if she was completely confused. "How…? This makes no sense."
Then, she turned around and seemingly fell into deep thought. Meanwhile, Elio sat there, not knowing what to say. He knew that something was clearly wrong with him to make Fiona react that way.
"Is there something wrong with me? Why does… whatever you're doing, not work?" He asked after much contemplation.
Fiona seemingly snapped out of it and looked at him. "I do not know. No normal human should be able to resist Blood Arts. Your blood shouldn't be able to handle it at all. Yet… For some reason, you are able to easily nullify the effect instantly. I have never seen that before."
"Blood Arts… huh?"
"It's far too complicated to explain now. What you should know is that something is very odd about your blood. I cannot understand it, but it feels completely off. It's far stronger and more intense than any other Blood Type I have seen. It's like a raging current that doesn't stop."
Elio was flabbergasted. He had never seen Fiona speak so much before in his life. Even with her friends, she barely said a few words each time, so he assumed she was the silent type. But, at that moment, he was seeing a flare in her eyes that he had never seen before.
She seemed… invested? Like completely interested in this topic and enthusiastic about it. This was a completely new side of her that he had never seen before, and it was fascinating to say the least.
"In any case. I cannot judge it immediately. Say, are you free after school?" Fiona asked as she stood up and dusted her clothes.
"Um, no… I have a job. I can't miss out or my boss would-"
"Give me his number. I will take care of the matter." She said.
"But… Ummm…" Elio rubbed the back of his head. "I'm not good financially, and I need to work to live… I can't really miss a single day."
"Don't worry. I will pay you a thousand times the money you would get from your job. I need you to come with me." Fiona said assertively. She didn't seem bothered at all, saying something that ridiculous.
"A thousand times?! No, please, I wouldn't be able to accept that kind of money." Elio shook his head.
"It does not matter. Money isn't something I worry about. So, we have an agreement. I will see you later after school at the front gates."
"Hey wai-"
Before he could even say anything, Fiona walked away, leaving the boy speechless and confused.
"... Sigh…" He exhaled as he rested his back against the seat, staring into the distance. "What the hell did I get myself into?"
Everything went completely differently from what he expected. The way Fiona reacted, and the way she seemed completely interested in his condition… It was so bizarre.
'Blood Arts… Blood? Vampires? Why does all this sound like some sort of fantasy book! What the hell?!'
Rubbing his hair violently, Elio finally gave up and looked down. "She said that my blood is different and that it was the reason why her Blood Arts didn't work… Why is my blood special? To even be something that she never saw before?"
For Elio, who had an inferiority complex, having anything special about him was completely out of the question. He was below average in everything, and he had no redeeming points. It simply made no sense in his brain.
"But, why does she want to meet me after school? Where is she bringing me?"
A lot of thoughts and so many possibilities. It was terrifying, yet equally intriguing. He wanted to know and see what was going to happen.
But, for now, Elio picked up his food to finish it. Whatever he will see later… What's certain is that he will never be able to forget it for the rest of his life.
