Chapter 10- The Vaylor Estate (Part 3)

Giving the maids one last glance, Elio followed Fiona through the large hall. He remained silent, close behind her, not to get lost in this large place.

'A house so big I could get lost in it… I thought that kind of thing didn't exist…' He mused to himself. 'How much money do these people have? Must be close to infinite. I mean, they probably never even think before buying anything they want.'

As enticing as that idea sounded, Elio knew better not to dream of such riches. Ignoring the fact that he would never be able to achieve that, Elio didn't want that huge sum of money since it was basically the easiest way to bring unwanted attention.

'Maybe enough money to live a comfortable life and not be under any scrutiny.' He mused as he looked up. The two had taken a path that brought them to a new section of the house. The corridors were wide and interconnected, leading in every direction.

There were many rooms along the way and maids and butlers going about their jobs. They all gave him a weird look before moving away. It was clear nobody expected him to be there, so they were surprised. But nobody would dare to question that when the lady is present.

"Ummm… Is it really fine for me to be here, Fiona?"

'It's so odd to call her by her first name.' Elio stuck his tongue out, feeling really weird about it.

"Yes. I invited you, so it is fine." Fiona said. "Don't worry about the servants. They aren't bad people. They just don't see visitors that often."

"I understand… Haha, I don't mind the looks." Elio laughed awkwardly. 'Who am I kidding? I do. But… At least they aren't hostile looks…'

As he was having such thoughts, Elio was surprised that they suddenly stopped, reaching a whole new area of the house. There, before them, was a metal gate with a touch screen next to it.

Fiona then put her hand on the touchpad. Immediately, a sensor captured that, and a green line scanned her hand a few times. Then, the door started opening slowly, releasing a wave of cold air that made Elio shudder subtly.

"Let's go."

'What the hell is this place?'

"Y-Yes…"

The two walked in, and the door immediately closed shut the next second. The temperature inside dropped drastically. Elio immediately grabbed his shoulders, feeling like he was standing in a large freezer.

Fiona didn't seem affected whatsoever as she walked to the side where there were hangers with white hazmat suits. She grabbed a pair and handed one to him.

"Wear this. We will be going through the sterilization chamber in a bit."

"Sterilization chamber? Why?"

"Because the environment we are about to enter must always be sterile, or it would be contaminated, and all our work would be destroyed. So, we must be well-equipped and ready before walking in."

"I see…"

'This sounds so serious.' Elio mused as he started wearing the hazmat suit. It was surprising how easy it was to wear it. Then, he wore the mask and the goggles. Fiona approached him slowly.

"Let me check if you are wearing it properly." Saying that, she leaned forward, getting very close to him. The boy's eyes widened behind the glasses. Fiona… was too close. He could basically feel her. He never thought he would ever get this close to her in his life. Her beautiful features were even more mesmerizing, and her smell was like the most beautiful and fragrant flower in the world.

His face turned a bit red, but he remained in his place, trying not to show any weird reaction.

After looking at his suit a few times, Fiona nodded before she turned around and opened the glass door. The two walked in, and the door locked. Then, above their heads, showers started gushing liquid all over the room, covering them completely. The liquid wasn't water, and it surprisingly didn't seem to wet them.

However, its sterile smell made Elio certain that it had cleaned them properly. After that, the next door opened, and they were able to walk out.

The moment Elio stepped into the next place, he found himself completely mesmerized. It was unlike the rest of the mansion. It was a large room, completely white from top to bottom, with white lights illuminating it.

All around him were all kinds of machines and equipment he had never seen before. Things that looked so futuristic, he couldn't even start to comprehend what it does.

Then, there were dozens and dozens of men and women walking around the place, clad in the same white clothes. The atmosphere was quiet but very active.

'This is the most ridiculous lab I have ever seen…'

"Miss Fiona?"

At that moment, a man approached them from the other side of the lab upon noticing their presence.

"It's our honor to see you visit the lab." He said with a perturbed yet delighted tone. It was clear Fiona didn't come down there often.

"How are you doing, George?"

"I am doing great, Miss Fiona. And who is this gentleman with you?" The man asked.

"He's my classmate. You see, I've brought him here for a reason. I want you to do a full blood test on him."

"A full blood test?" George raised an eyebrow. "Why is that, Miss Fiona?"

"Well, it's a long story. But I have discovered that my Blood Art doesn't work on him. His blood seems to be able to nullify any form of Blood Art."

"E… Excuse me… What?" For a second, the man froze as he stared at Fiona and then at Elio. "Nullify Blood Art… How can that be? Is he perhaps…"

"Vampire Hunter? No. He is a fully normal human being. He doesn't seem to have any special bloodline either as far as I can see."

"How could that be…" The man seemed like he was struck by a bombshell. He kept staring at Elio as if he were some kind of alien. "What is your name, sir?"

"Elio… Elio Ashenblood…"

"Elio Ashenblood. Ummm, yeah, we need to conduct tests immediately. This might be the first case of its kind in history." The man said as he turned around and walked away to talk to his colleagues.

"Don't worry, Elio. He won't harm you. He will just sample some blood, do some tests on your body, and then we will see the results."

"Yeah, I'm not… I'm oddly relaxed about it." Elio replied with a calm face. Even though he was standing in a lab, ready to be tested, he didn't feel as scared as he thought he would be.

After a few minutes, the entire lab had suddenly shifted its focus from its usual work to the new subject that had arrived. Elio was then quickly brought to a seat, and one of the lab workers approached him with a syringe.

Then, with it, the man extracted a sample of blood from Elio's arm. It didn't feel painful, even though it was uncomfortable.

Then, he walked away and poured the blood into a capsule before shutting it and slotting it into a machine.

He then tapped a few buttons under Elio's curious gaze, and the blood was instantly sucked in.

At the same time, another lab worker started typing on the computer as the results started rolling in.

Fiona leaned forward and read the screen silently. Then…

"... My lord…"
