Chapter 39 - Chapter 39: Prelude to the Death Knell

Looking at the numerous Green Lanterns in front of him, Zod's eyes flashed with a hint of gloom.

He was right; those Little Blue Men, who claimed to be righteous but loved to stir up trouble, would never sit by and watch Krypton rise again.

"Abin Sur, when I spared your life last time, I remember clearly warning you that if you ever appeared before me again, I would twist off your head."

Zod directly transmitted his words into the minds of all the Green Lanterns using his telepathic abilities.

Since he knew they were here with ill intentions, he wasn't going to be polite!

Upon hearing his arrogant words, Abin Sur himself didn't react much, but many other Green Lanterns couldn't accept it!

Because in the Corps, he was not only a powerful Lantern but also a respected mentor.

Immediately, a burly Green Lantern with brown skin flew forward and transmitted a message to Zod through his Power Ring: "Kryptonian, you are too arrogant. You are challenging our entire Green Lantern Corps."

"Cut the nonsense. State your purpose, otherwise, I don't mind extinguishing the Green Lantern light from each of you, one by one."

Zod didn't pay him any mind, his sharp gaze fixed solely on Abin Sur.

"Damn it, did you even hear what I said, you fellow?"

The ignored Green Lantern's face fell, and the voice transmitted through his Power Ring was filled with anger.

At this moment, Abin Sur, not wanting to escalate the conflict, quickly stopped that Green Lantern.

Then he flew forward, ready to communicate with Zod.

"Mr. Zod, we are here this time on the orders of the Guardians of the Universe to negotiate with you."

After organizing his words in his mind, he tactfully stated his purpose.

"Haha! Negotiate? Mobilizing three hundred Green Lanterns at once—this negotiation seems a bit too grand. Just state your purpose directly. I will decide whether it's war or peace."

Seeing Zod's resolute attitude, and considering how harsh the Guardians' conditions were, Abin Sur understood that there was virtually no room for reconciliation this time!

However, before he could speak, a Green Lantern, unable to contain his anger, spoke first:

"You are the leader of those Kryptonian survivors. You Kryptonians are still as arrogant as ever. Tens of thousands of years ago, you had ambitions to expand throughout the universe, but we, the Green Lantern Corps, stopped you. Now you are merely a group of interstellar refugees, yet you still harbor such ambitions."

"We are here this time on the orders of the Guardians of the Universe, to uphold the righteous order of the universe, and specifically to suppress you unstable elements."

"However, the Guardians are benevolent. As long as you are willing to voluntarily surrender the codex, destroy your existing Genesis Chamber facilities, erase all data related to this technology, including your memories of it."

"Then you can continue to live in your new home. If you refuse, we will not restrict the use of lethal force and will completely eradicate your species from the universe."

Zod, upon hearing these words, was so angry he almost laughed. Perhaps those Little Blue Men had lived too long, and their minds had been dulled by time!

And these Green Lanterns were the same; perhaps they had been cosmic police for too long and truly believed they could lord over other cosmic life forms and possess universal enforcement rights.

Just as he was about to greet those Little Blue Men in front of these Green Lanterns, the system's prompt, which had been silent for several years in his mind, finally sounded again:

"Ding! Detecting that the host is being oppressed by an ancient powerful civilization, triggering a mission choice: One, agree to the conditions, settle the matter peacefully, reward: roulette draw +1; Two, refuse with words, if it's war, then it's war, successfully defeat the vanguard of the powerful civilization, reward: roulette draw +2!"

The system seemed to offer two choices, but one was for humans, and the other was for dogs.

Zod had been a beast of burden in his previous life, and he didn't want to be a dog again in this life, so his choice was to fight these Green Lanterns. It was a good opportunity to test his current strength!

"Hmph! I wonder how long you've all worn your Power Rings. I think after today, they'll have to find new inheritors—that is, if they can get away."

As soon as Zod spoke, everyone in the Green Lantern Corps understood his meaning and instantly entered combat mode.

Seeing this, Abin Sur quickly stepped forward again and secretly transmitted a message to Zod:

"Mr. Zod, you spared me once last time, and I am grateful. Also, I have re-investigated the Sector 666 massacre you mentioned. Although there are still many unanswered questions, I understand your disdain for the Guardians."

"But this time is different. The Corps is prepared. The Guardians know about the fatal flaw in your genes: green kryptonite. I don't want to see you suffer destruction."

"So, please reconsider!"

Hearing this, Zod gave Abin Sur a deep look.

Although the two were now on opposite sides, his character indeed deserved the title of the greatest Green Lantern.

Unfortunately, there was no room for maneuver in this matter.

Moreover, even if they knew their weakness, what of it? Leto and the others hadn't been idle these past few years; all Kryptonian warriors' battle armor had undergone a major upgrade.

The battle armor could combine with each warrior's personal bio-force field, not only completely immune to kryptonite radiation but also greatly enhancing defensive capabilities.

Thanks to the hellish creature discovered on Mars and Wonder Woman Diana, the current Kryptonian battle armor also possesses impressive defensive capabilities against magic and divine attacks.

So Zod's telepathic ability covered everyone: "Abin Sur, I can give you one more chance. Within one minute, either take them and disappear, or die!"

Looking at the cold killing intent in Zod's eyes, Abin Sur truly felt that Zod could kill all the Green Lanterns present.

Unfortunately, before he could fully react, a fish-headed Green Lantern directly stepped forward: "Kryptonian, Green Lantern warriors, we will defend the Corps' honor to the death."

Then he directly raised the Power Ring in his hand, a green light shone, and the Green Lantern oath slowly appeared before everyone.

"In brightest day, in blackest night;"

"No evil shall escape my sight."

"Let those who worship evil's might;"

"Beware my power, Green Lantern's light!"

In an instant, one Lantern after another involuntarily raised the Power Rings in their hands, and in a flash, a brilliant green light, enough to illuminate the galaxy, burst forth from the Power Rings.

At this time, Martian Manhunter and Fiora also arrived successively, and what they saw was this scene.

Immediately, without any hesitation, they all instantly prepared for battle.

With swords drawn, Abin Sur knew that at this point, all words were useless, and he could only sigh softly in his heart.

Among all the Green Lanterns, only Sinestro watched everything with cold eyes. He had an ominous premonition, but he did not choose to leave; he had his own pride.

The next moment, the great battle officially erupted, and beams of green light were the first to shoot towards Zod and his group.

However, to the great surprise of all the Green Lanterns, Zod merely extended his hand forward casually, and a massive grayish-white ripple-like barrier appeared, instantly engulfing all the attacks they launched.
