Chapter 37 - Chapter 37 The Tree of Life

Three days passed quickly. After confirming that all the data for New Krypton had fully transformed into a normal life-sustaining planet, the twelve outposts immediately began operating, carrying out environmental modifications. In a very short time, they would be able to reconstruct a normal ecosystem.

The construction progress of the large Genesis Chamber was also incredibly fast, as even one Kryptonian child could complete a workload equivalent to a hundred ordinary people in a single day!

While the initial construction of Krypton was in full swing, on the other side, as Zod had predicted, some people could no longer sit still!

On Oa, at the Green Lantern Corps headquarters, in the central conference room, all the Guardians of the Universe were gathered, showing the importance they attached to the matter about to be discussed.

Even so, there was no expression on any of their faces.

This was because they had long ago stripped themselves of emotions billions of years ago, retaining only absolute rationality.

"According to Abin Sur's report, those Kryptonian survivors are currently rebuilding Krypton in Sector 2184. Previously, they had already used the so-called Genesis Chamber technology to incubate dozens of new Kryptonians."

"Now, they seem to be building an even larger Genesis Chamber, intending to rapidly increase their racial population, which is a precursor to their expansion."

"Tens of thousands of years ago, they once attempted large-scale colonial expansion into the universe, but were stopped and severely beaten back by the Green Lantern Corps. At that time, they had not yet discovered the secret of the yellow sun."

"Now, they have mastered the secret of the yellow sun's enhancement to themselves. If they are allowed to expand their population on such a large scale, it will undoubtedly become an extremely terrifying force."

"With their barbaric and warlike nature, they will inevitably spread their ambition across the entire universe once again, which will certainly trigger countless bloody upheavals and pose a serious threat to the existing cosmic order."

The Guardians of the Universe spoke one after another, as if to nail Krypton to the pillar of truth symbolizing cosmic justice.

"I believe that three hundred Green Lantern warriors should be immediately dispatched to Sector 2184 to completely suppress those Kryptonian survivors, destroy their existing Genesis Chamber, and erase all information about this technology."

"Agreed, but there's an even more important point: the continuation of the Kryptonian race is entirely dependent on their codex. They must hand over their codex for us to seal and preserve."

"This race is too terrifying when it grows. We cannot let them become destroyers of the cosmic justice order. I believe they should be completely eradicated from this universe to prevent future troubles."

"Agreed!"

"Agreed!"

"Agreed!"

...Among the more than twenty Guardians of the Universe, only two did not respond.

"Ganthet, Sayd, do you two have different opinions?"

At this moment, all the Guardians' gazes turned to Ganthet and Sayd, the couple.

"Any life form in the universe has the right to exist. For those Kryptonians, I believe it is enough to restrict their large-scale reproduction; there is no need to eradicate those Kryptonians who are still alive."

"Protecting life in the universe and upholding justice, isn't that our original intention in becoming Guardians?"

Ganthet spoke to the other Guardians.

He and his wife were relatively normal among this group of Guardians. If following the normal timeline, in the future, they would even betray the Guardians' faction due to the re-emergence of their own emotions.

As his wife, Sayd also firmly stood by her husband, saying:

"I think Ganthet is right. Any life form born in this universe has the right to continue, and even we cannot arbitrarily deprive them of it."

"Furthermore, these Kryptonians have not caused any killing or destruction during their time on Earth. In fact, that Kryptonian leader even spared Abin Sur, so they should not be wiped out."

Hearing their words, the other Guardians began to communicate silently.

Finally, most of the Guardians also agreed with Ganthet and his wife's statement.

Because on the surface, it was indeed so. Although these Kryptonians might indeed threaten the cosmic order of justice in the future, all of that had not yet happened.

"In that case, let's give these Kryptonians a chance. If they are willing to voluntarily destroy their existing Genesis Chamber, erase all related technical information, and hand over the codex, we can allow the existing Kryptonians to continue living."

"But if they dare to resist, then let the Green Lanterns eliminate them."

However, a threat is always a threat, and one Guardian still proposed conditions for sparing them.

In response, the powerful Boomru among the Guardians immediately made a decision:

"So it is resolved. Immediately notify the Green Lanterns in nearby sectors to rush to Sector 2184, with Abin Sur as the Corps leader, to carry out a suppression operation against Krypton. If they resist, the use of lethal force targeting Kryptonian weaknesses is permitted."

When Ganthet heard these words, he instinctively wanted to frown and refute, but Sayd, who was beside him, held him back, forcing him to suppress these emotions.

Because they could not let the other Guardians discover that their stripped emotions were recovering. If that happened, both of them would have their frontal lobes forcibly removed by their own kin.

After their emotions were reborn, Ganthet and Sayd increasingly felt that their original decision to strip emotions was a colossal mistake.

Now, their kin had long deviated from their original intentions and were completely consumed by a paranoid desire for control.

"Perhaps it's time to find an opportunity to leave!"

At this moment, Ganthet for the first time had the thought of wanting to escape Oa, to escape this group of his own kind.

With the Guardians' order issued, the Green Lanterns acted very quickly.

At this time, one green light after another flew towards Sector 2184... On New Krypton, Zod looked at the tree of life seed in his sea of suffering, which had germinated after being constantly washed by his endless life essence, and a hint of joy appeared in his heart.

According to his understanding of the tree of life seed, new seeds would only sprout and grow in the hands of a person who received a response when the original tree of life lost its life.

Unfortunately, when he touched the seed back then, besides gaining telepathic abilities, the seed did not sprout and grow.

But he thought that this was another world, and the rules were different. Perhaps by placing the seed in his sea of suffering and nurturing it with life essence every day, it might be able to sprout.

And this seed did not disappoint his efforts. After several years of nourishment with life essence, it actually sprouted!

Without much hesitation, Zod directly planted this seed in the future Kryptonian capital.

Once the tree of life grew, every Kryptonian born there would receive its blessing and gain telepathic abilities.

Coupled with the mysterious altar on Mars that could significantly enhance mental power, this was a stable process for cultivating psychic abilities.

Moreover, the tree of life seed also had the effect of promoting life evolution. In the future, even if Hel could not be found, it might still be possible to advance the genetic level of other Kryptonians.

As for contributing his own genes for Leto and the others to research, Zod was not considering it for now, as he harbored too many secrets.

The moment it was planted in the soil, this tree of life seed seemed to fully burst with vitality, and then began to grow rapidly at a visible pace.

Moreover, the Sun Essence produced by the double-headed sunflowers planted around it all converged towards it.

In just half an hour, it had already grown into a giant tree nearly thirty meters tall, and it showed no signs of stopping, still growing at a visible rate.

Zod knew that the tree of life could grow up to three hundred meters, and it was still far from its limit.
