Ren looked at the thorny clouds that were slowly approaching him, flailing thorny, rope-like structures to push themselves forward. Knowing his luck, he looked toward the Points.
The Points were rising again from 338,000—the amount he had gained from slaughtering the wolves—moving much faster than before his encounter with them, and it seemed they were not stopping anytime soon.
This gave Ren another headache as he wondered what he might expect from the clouds closing in on him.
The Points stopped rising when they reached 500,000. This made Ren raise his eyebrows in a bit of surprise.
He started to look for a way to escape, since the formation created by the wolves was still working; however, it seemed to be getting weaker as time went on.
Seeing the speed of the cloud and the time it might take for the formation to break, he realized he would be cutting it close for an escape.
Not taking any chances or leaving it to fate, Ren started punching the energy wall of the formation.
CLANG! CLANG!
The wall shimmered, but there did not seem to be much damage. However, the energy required to maintain the formation was being used much faster, and the wall began to grow dull far quicker than before.
Ren continued to punch the wall, trying his best to minimize unnecessary movement and conserve energy.
Slowly, Ren's form began to improve as he adopted a better stance to build up penetrative force, gradually causing cracks to form on the energy wall.
Just when Ren was about to run out, a sharp, thorny mandible shot out of the purple clouds, wrapping around his limbs.
This made Ren's heart tremble slightly, recalling his previous experience in City 05. Shaking the thought out of his head, he noticed that the suit remained unaffected.
PIERCE!
He looked closely at the point of contact between the suit and the thorny mandible. The suit was being damaged but repairing itself at a much faster rate than it was being damaged simultaneously.
Not taking any chances again like before, Ren focused on his whole blood to utilize the other bloodlines to power up his fire bloodline.
Fire began to cover him, spreading outward and burning the thorny whips binding his body to ashes. Ren focused on the randomly moving whips emerging from the thorny cloud. These seemed to be high-level, since they were able to somewhat damage the suit.
Ren also thought that, despite the suit having the ability to camouflage, enemies had been continuously locating him. It seemed like he had wasted one million points.
When he had finally burned the last of the prickly ropes, Ren dove down and moved as far away from the area as possible to seclude himself and reflect on what he had accomplished and what he needed to do in the future—whether to look for Ophelia or quietly check out other cities this time.
He glanced at the Unlucky Roulette as he searched for a cave where he could hide for the night. Before long, he found a cave with a stream running nearby, which fulfilled his need for water. The wolf meat he had torn from their bodies would serve as emergency food.
When he arrived at the mouth of the cave, he felt an energy that seemed to be coming from a living organism. It appeared to be weak. He stepped inside with light, careful steps, ready to flee at any sign of danger.
He saw a bundle of light in the corner that seemed to be shivering. He stepped a bit closer, and a name popped up above its head.
It seemed to be the offspring of the she-wolf and the alpha wolf he had taken down. This cub appeared to have awakened a higher-level talent than its mother.
Yes, the she-wolf had a talent of light, but it seemed to use that talent to find prey for the pack by focusing light energy around its eyes and seeing through illusions or other tricks.
That was the conclusion Ren had reached after thinking about it for so long. Still, the question remained—what should he do with the Light Wolf cub?
