Chapter 20: The Official Fun BeginsWhile Kaito and Haruto were sitting in the carriage, Haruto watched Yuki happily holding his bag and gazing out the window. Kaito occasionally glanced at them, then looked back out the window as if not to be noticed.
Haruto turned to Yuki.
Haruto:
"So… did you like it?"
Yuki replied with excitement and happiness.
Yuki:
"Y-yes… I'm really happy. Thank you, Haru and Kaito big brother."
Kaito immediately looked at him.
Kaito:
"I didn't buy anything though."
Yuki smiled softly while looking out the window.
Yuki:
"Thanks to you, I have these now. I never had any toys before."
Haruto was about to smile but suddenly looked surprised.
Haruto:
"Before…? So, are you starting to remember some things now?"
Yuki nodded, but he looked sad.
Kaito sighed.
Kaito:
"Ugh… It was completely normal not to say it yesterday, Yuki."
Just then, the carriage stopped.
Haruto looked at Yuki and Kaito.
Haruto:
"I think we've arrived. How about continuing this conversation with some biscuits and milk?"
Kaito rolled his eyes.
Kaito:
"Childish…"
As he stood up and stepped out, he added:
Kaito:
"Well… the weather feels mild."
As soon as all three got off the carriage, someone jumped onto Yuki from behind.
Startled, Yuki turned around and saw Shin on his back, with Zen running up behind, ready to jump as well.
Kaito approached Haruto seriously.
Kaito:
"Even remembering a little helps us. It's better if you do it before he sleeps."
After saying that, he headed toward the door.
Haruto called after him.
Haruto:
"Hey, grumpy muscles! Wait, where are you going?"
Kaito turned back.
Kaito:
"We've got a little majin fight to deal with."
Haruto laughed.
At that moment, Zen—still on top of Yuki—called out to Kaito.
Zen:
"Kaito bro, Daichi is in the garden like always, taking care of the roses."
Shin backed him up.
Shin:
"Ah, yeah."
Yuki groaned.
Yuki:
"Ahh… ow… my back…"
Laughing, Haruto gestured for them to get off.
Haruto:
"Alright, get off Yuki now. Let's go to the doctor. By the way, where's Mizu?"
Shin quickly stood up, accidentally knocking Zen over.
Zen:
"Oof!"
Shin:
"Lady Akira's sibling came and picked her up. Actually, the business trip got canceled."
Yuki slowly stood up.
Yuki:
"My sibling… right…"
Haruto cleared his throat and scratched his head.
Haruto:
"They're not actually siblings. A long time ago, Kaydı helped Akira a lot. Since then, Lady sees Akira as her little sister."
After watching them for a moment, Kaito went inside and headed straight to his room. On the way, he saw Kenji reading in the library.
Kenji still looked tired, but the medicine had helped a bit.
Kaito:
"You okay?"
Kenji nodded.
Kenji:
"Yeah… but I'm still a little tired."
Kaito chuckled.
Kaito:
"That's to be expected. Anyway, I'll go change."
Kenji waved.
Kenji:
"See you at tonight's majin tournament, Mr. Cold Stare."
Kaito rolled his eyes, nodded, and walked toward his room.
Meanwhile, as Yuki, the twins, and Haruto headed toward Dr. Mitsuni's room, Taro's voice echoed through the hall.
Taro:
"Hey kids, you must be hungry. Lunch is ready."
Haruto nodded.
Haruto:
"Well… we'd love to eat your tea rice, if that's okay with you—and if your hand's alright."
Taro nodded, made an "okay" sign, and winked.
Taro:
"Deal."
Yuki flinched slightly; he was afraid of the doctor.
Haruto noticed and reassured him.
Haruto:
"Don't be scared, Yuki."
Shin suddenly jumped into the conversation.
Shin:
"By the way, Kaito having muscles is because Taro has muscles too. Thanks to the doctor!"
Yuki looked shocked. Haruto and Zen struggled not to laugh.
Zen:
"Yeah, yeah. Seriously, Yuki."
Haruto burst into laughter.
Haruto:
"Well… we met Taro back when we were in the orphanage. He was our cook and took great care of us. He was already well-built, and Kaito admired him—so that's how he ended up like this."
Yuki's eyes sparkled.
Yuki:
"Woooow! That's awesome! When I grow up, I'll be really strong too, Haru bro!"
The twins jumped in at the same time.
Twins:
"And us too!"
Shin quickly added:
Shin:
"Obviously, I'll be the strongest!"
Zen snapped back.
Zen:
"Huh? What about me then?!"
Yuki touched his hair thoughtfully.
Yuki:
"I kind of feel like… it's going to be me."
Haruto burst into uncontrollable laughter.
Haruto:
"PUHAHAHA! Alright, let's change and head to the doctor. Don't worry, Yuki—he'll just check you."
Turning to the twins:
Haruto:
"You two, go take a bath. You're covered in dirt—were you playing in the garden?"
The twins nodded.
Haruto looked at Yuki.
Haruto:
"Hey, how about all three of you take a bath?"
All three answered excitedly.
All three:
"Yeeees!"
Haruto:
"Then go prepare the bath with your big sister. We'll be done by then. Come on, Yuki, let's go to the doctor."
As they headed up the stairs, Haruto held Yuki's hand tightly.
