Chapter 39 - A Head-On Duel with Colonel Bogard!

What truly gave Raifeng his "reborn" leap in power wasn't the fifth sign-in's Conqueror's Haki.

It was the reward from the fourth sign-in.

In a single step, it pushed his Strength, Speed, and Stamina into a completely different tier.

Not just doubled—

it nearly tripled.

All stats +20.

Strength, Speed, Stamina—

every one of them jumped by twenty points.

That was the real reason Raifeng had undergone such a dramatic transformation.

As for the fifth sign-in's Conqueror's Haki?

That was just icing on the cake.

The fourth reward was the core.

Over these two days, Raifeng's overall power had advanced by leaps and bounds.

"Now, it's not just my swordsmanship anymore."

"My Strength, Speed, and Stamina have all skyrocketed too."

"My overall combat power has undergone a qualitative leap."

Raifeng's eyes sparkled, excitement simmering in his chest.

If he fought Colonel Bogard again now…

it shouldn't be a problem.

At the very least—

he would truly be able to fight back.

A real fight.

No more Bogard holding back out of caution.

Raifeng now had the qualifications to face Bogard head-on.

"Only after fighting Bogard can I accurately judge where my strength stands on this sea."

Raifeng thought it through.

Without a reliable measuring stick, he couldn't precisely place his current level.

And Bogard was the perfect benchmark.

A standard to gauge where he stood in the wider world.

Sadly for Bogard—

the Marine Headquarters colonel had no idea he'd been reduced to a "measuring stick" in Raifeng's head.

"It's time to go see where the ship has reached."

Raifeng stretched, then stepped out of his cabin.

Golden sunlight poured down from the sky.

The sun blazed overhead.

The bright light warmed the air as it spread over the sea. The rippling surface reflected it back in dazzling flashes—like a sheet of gold glittering endlessly.

Blue sky. Drifting clouds.

Another day of perfect weather.

As Raifeng walked, he passed many marines.

When they saw him, they visibly showed respect, greeting him politely—almost eagerly.

They didn't measure status by age.

They measured it by strength.

They respected Raifeng not because he was Garp's grandson—

but because Raifeng's power had genuinely won them over.

Especially after Bogard's earlier statement:

Six months, and Raifeng would surpass Bogard.

That single line had deeply changed how the crew saw the seven-year-old boy.

It made them understand more clearly just what kind of terrifying prodigy—what kind of monster—Raifeng really was.

"Mr. Raifeng…"

One marine after another greeted him with smiling faces and respectful posture, none daring to be careless.

To them, Raifeng wasn't "a child."

He was a powerful figure—someone with status earned by strength.

The sea's rule was simple:

Respect the strong.

And that rule applied to the Marines too.

In their eyes, Raifeng was absolutely someone worthy of admiration—

even if he was only seven.

"By the way—where's Colonel Bogard right now?"

Raifeng casually grabbed a nearby marine to ask.

He could hardly wait to face Bogard again.

Not friendly sparring.

Not practice.

But a—

duel.

A formal duel, both sides going all out with no holding back.

"Colonel Bogard? I think he's on deck," the marine answered after thinking for a moment.

"On deck…" Raifeng nodded and headed that way.

The marine stayed behind, scratching his head, puzzled.

What's Mr. Raifeng doing? He just finished seclusion training and immediately went looking for Colonel Bogard?

Then—

a startling guess surfaced.

Wait… no way.

Don't tell me—

Mr. Raifeng is going to challenge Colonel Bogard again?!

His eyes widened, shock written all over his face.

And just like that—

the news spread.

The entire ship erupted.

Hundreds, then thousands of marines dropped what they were doing and rushed toward the center of the deck.

For a while, the warship turned noisy and chaotic.

"What's going on?" Koby asked, grabbing a marine.

"Apparently Mr. Raifeng ended his two-day seclusion training… and the moment he came out, he's challenging Colonel Bogard again—face-to-face."

The instant those words landed—

Koby and Helmeppo's eyes went wide.

Oh, damn…

Is that real?!

Mr. Raifeng is challenging Colonel Bogard again?!

There was no way they could miss that.

"Move!" Koby snapped, grabbing Helmeppo—who was still frozen in shock—and dragging him toward the deck.

Meanwhile…

at the center of the deck—

"Brat," Garp said, staring at Raifeng with a strange expression, "you're sure you want to challenge Bogard—and you want him to go all out? No holding back, full power, an all-out duel?!"

Garp was stunned.

Seriously.

Where was this kid getting his confidence?

Sure, Bogard was "a bit weak"—but that was only by Garp's standards.

By any normal measure, Bogard was strong. On the Grand Line, he was absolutely top-tier. Not the pinnacle, but far from weak.

So where did seven-year-old Raifeng get the nerve to challenge him?

And the crazy part—

the brat even demanded Bogard go all out.

Was he serious?

"Of course," Raifeng said, eyes shining, nodding with genuine seriousness and anticipation.

"You really did cook your brain in that cabin," Garp muttered, shaking his head. Then he looked at Bogard. "Fine. Bogard, what do you say? You accepting this challenge?"

In Garp's view, Raifeng and Bogard weren't even on the same level.

No matter how monstrous Raifeng's sword talent was, Garp didn't believe Raifeng could surpass Bogard in such a short time.

Was that possible?

Of course not.

Besides—

a true all-out duel wasn't just about swordsmanship.

It involved strength, speed, stamina, combat thinking, battle experience—everything.

Any one of those factors could swing the outcome.

This brat…

he really didn't know how high the sky was or how deep the sea ran.

Picking a duel he was guaranteed to lose.

Still, Garp thought:

Maybe this is good.

Someone who's never tasted defeat never learns there's always someone stronger.

After getting crushed once, Raifeng might finally reflect a bit… and settle down.

He really did need to shave off some of that arrogance before it turned into a problem.

"Full power, huh…" Bogard's eyes lit with interest. "Fine. If that's what you want—then I accept."
