Interview Office, Black Crest Jubilife Breeding House.
The Breeding House here didn't really need bodyguards or extra security—not for now, at least.
The combination of Agni, Ryu, Metang, and Austin's parents' Pokémon was already more than enough.
"I'm sorry, his personality's always been like this. If he offended you, I apologize on his behalf," Amanda said.
Leon—having just been subdued by Amanda—watched the exchange quietly.
Regarding the earlier farce, Amanda sincerely apologized to Dai Yui.
Dai Yui chuckled, waving a dismissive hand.
"No, no, no. I actually like Machamp. That's a compliment."
"I used to be a professional Pokémon Boxer, but I retired after a leg injury. Don't worry—the injury doesn't affect my life or work," he added casually.
"That's more like it," Leon nodded silently, glancing at Dai Yui sitting there like an immovable wall. He had a presence, a history.
Amanda quickly searched Dai Yui's name and found a long list of honors. This was a man with a Wikipedia-worthy résumé:
16th P1 Fighting Tournament Champion
19th Pokémon World Martial Arts Tournament Champion
27th Pokémon World Martial Arts Tournament Top 8
Dai Yui had debuted at 16 and hit his peak immediately, winning three consecutive championships. Later, a leg injury meant he only made it to the top eight five times in a row. After an infamous incident, he retired. And even now, at 28, he was still young.
"What made you decide to become a Breeder, then?" Amanda asked, curious.
"I've loved breeding Pokémon since I was a child. Pokémon boxing was just a chance detour," Dai Yui said.
"I passed the junior Breeder assessment, but when I went for the intermediate..."
During his professional career, Dai Yui had led a comfortable life and endorsed countless products. Breeding was purely for passion.
They needed someone who truly loved Pokémon—and Dai Yui was perfect. Breeding knowledge could always be learned later.
"Welcome to Black Crest Jubilife Breeding House. You can come in anytime to complete the onboarding process," Amanda said with a smile.
"If you encounter any difficult customers, help them see reason," she added jokingly. "Service jobs always have a few oddballs."
Dai Yui laughed loudly. "Leave it to me!"
With his Machamp physique and long list of titles, handling strange customers was going to be effortless.
Through the afternoon, Leon and Amanda interviewed twelve candidates. Not just Breeders—they needed cleaners, too.
But in the end, only Mizuki and Dai Yui truly stood out.
The positions offered excellent pay, and the environment was top-notch. People naturally gravitated toward better opportunities. Being a Breeder was demanding work; who wouldn't want comfort and recognition?
Leon and Amanda prioritized quality over quantity—they weren't busy enough yet to settle for less.
. . .
Ornamental Fish Pond
The fish pond wasn't large—about eight meters in diameter—with a hollowed-out rockery in the center.
Nothing had been there before, but now a shy Feebas peeked out. Still nervous around humans, Austin simply left the food by the pond.
"I put the food here. Remember to eat," he muttered.
Austin checked his Pokégear and saw messages from Dai Yui and Mizuki.
"I'll report for duty tomorrow," they wrote.
Austin replied simply: "Welcome."
Mizuki's response was brief, like a stone sinking into the sea.
"Still so perfunctory." Austin shook his head.
After that, Austin scrolled through his Moments. He spotted Ethan's hardcore advertisement, tagging Austin's account and announcing the opening of Black Crest in Jubilife City, inviting everyone to stop by if they had the time.
One familiar face appeared among their mutual friends: Major Lt. Surge, formerly of Team Rocket's trio of officers, hailing from the Unova region. He was also the first Gym Leader in the anime to truly lose to Ash—a little embarrassing.
Lt. Surge had turned over a new leaf and still served as the Gym Leader of Vermilion City. He once ventured alone into the Masked Man's territory, successfully escaped, and saved Ethan and Shiny Metang.
Austin saw his reply in Moments:
@Captain Lt. Surge of the S.S. Anne(verified):
Very good, I'll definitely visit!
Austin thought he was just being polite. After all, Vermilion City was in Kanto—why would he come all the way to Jubilife City in Sinnoh without a reason?
Austin's first video had gone viral, still gaining momentum. After uploading a second video, his followers got notifications.
"Come on, distinguished guests, let's take a bubble bath," he said.
Comments flooded in immediately:
@CatMom123:

@PokeTrainerLeo:

@MeowthFan99:

@GroomingGuru:

@PokéCollector:

@BubbleBathKing:

@BeliveIt:
"Delcatty approves, this is high-class grooming 😸.
Lily reminded him, and Nami filmed a close-up of Austin grooming Glameow. The smooth fur confirmed it—this was expert-level care.
Bathing Pokémon like Delcatty and Glameow was no easy feat. Yet Austin's skill left everyone impressed.
@I_am_gonna_be_the_very_best:
I'm going to try this on my Meowth. Thanks for the tips, Austin!!
And just like that, attention was drawn to the unique name: Black Crest Jubilife Breeding House.
Austin Black's account bio had the address, so fans could find it using the location.
With the followers he'd gained from the previous video, Austin's new clip quickly racked up views, and his follower count climbed steadily.
Austin picked a few interesting comments to reply to, then closed the Pokégear app.
"Ten thousand followers are within reach," he muttered.
. . .
The next day.
Dai Yui and Mizuki reported for duty early.
Mizuki stayed in the female dormitory, but Dai Yui made an impression.
He'd bought a two-story courtyard house right outside the Black Crest Jubilife Breeding House, about eight hundred meters away.
The paperwork was still being processed, but Dai Yui had already moved in with his luggage.
Austin leaned back in his chair, understanding what true passion meant.
Dai Yui said while sitting next to him, "Your video is trending in the lifestyle section of PokéStream. I even saw it."
The clip of bathing Delcatty and Glameow had hit 700,000 views overnight, surpassing Austin's first video.
Austin smiled, nodding.
"Come on, I'll give you a tour of the Breeding House," He said, leaping to his feet.
