The King of Asgard.
Inside the palace, the Asgardians were enjoying themselves immensely, as if they had indulged in too much melon today. When they arrived for the morning assembly, everyone had assumed it would be just an ordinary coronation ceremony.
Thor appeared. Odin had passed away, leaving the throne vacant. The ceremony concluded. No one expected to witness so many shocking revelations in a single day.
First:
The next king's brother, Loki—cunning and deceitful—had secretly contacted the Frost Giants. He aimed to steal the most important item from the armory: the freezer. This caused chaos and a scramble for the throne. Had Loki not revealed his plan, he might have succeeded.
Second:
He saw King Odin scolding his son Thor, even threatening to strip him of the throne and his power, taking away Mjolnir. Odin had even demoted Thor to the human world.
Oh my. Everyone knew that the human world was a barren place. In winter, the temperature plummeted. Young women, once accustomed to short sleeves and skirts, bundled up in heavy coats, making everything barely visible. Unlike Asgard, where spring seemed eternal and women habitually wore sleeveless gowns all year round, the human world was harsh and unforgiving.
Seeing that Thor might be demoted to Earth, the Asgardians attending the ceremony all sympathized with him. Yet Thor had already suffered enough. But the worst was yet to come.
Who could have anticipated it? Loki was actually adopted.
Everyone present knew that Asgard's throne followed hereditary succession—passed from father to son, meaning direct bloodline. If what the screen revealed was true, Loki, being adopted, could never inherit the throne. He could never rule the people of Asgard.
The Asgardians looked at Loki with a hint of pity.
"What a tragic child… taught from birth that the throne would be shared between him and his brother. Who would have thought he was adopted? From the day he was taken in, his life was doomed. He could never be king; he could only serve his brother. Poor child—perhaps he blames himself for not being good enough."
No wonder he secretly contacted the Frost Giants. "If I were treated this way, I might have done the same."
At that moment, someone in the crowd shouted:
"He's so pitiful! I choose Loki! He's the one we all want!""Loki! Loki! Loki!""Loki! Loki! Loki!"
Hearing the Asgardians talk like this, Loki was completely bewildered.
Oh no. What is happening this time? How did I suddenly gain the upper hand? I haven't even used the tricks in my mind yet! I secretly contacted the Frost Giants to steal the freezer, not because the throne would never pass to me.
You got the order wrong!
At that moment, Loki—always known for his cunning—finally realized:
"No, the throne was never meant for me from the start! I am… adopted!?"
The truth struck Loki like a heavy hammer to the back of his head, leaving him feeling uneasy.
Thor watched the Asgardians reveling in celebration, while Loki seemed shocked by the truth. He immediately reacted—had he really done something wrong? Identity is a sensitive matter. How could he, feeling socially cold-shouldered, be foolish enough to change the subject? Thor felt a deep pang of guilt. Today, he had really gotten himself into big trouble.
Frigga, Thor and Loki's mother, stood nearby, worried about the aged Odin. She feared he might not withstand the pressure and could enter Odin's Sleep prematurely, never to awaken. Clenching her teeth, she muttered inwardly:
"I don't know what's happening today. Thor and Loki… both of them are such trouble! Once this farce ends, I will give them a proper lesson!"
Odin, king of the gods, remained seated on his throne. He seemed struck by an idea, his voice shifting with measured sincerity as he addressed Loki:
"After the battle with the Frost Giants, I entered the temple and discovered a child… the offspring of Laufey, abandoned, suffering, left to fend for himself."
The audience gasped.
"What? Loki is of Frost Giant descent!?"
"My goodness, every time my daughter couldn't sleep, I'd scare her with the Frost Giants. I never imagined the king's own son was one!"
Loki felt a wave of discomfort.
"I… am a Frost Giant??"
"Yes, my child, you are," Odin continued.
"I hope that one day these two peoples can unite, forming an alliance and achieving lasting peace. You are my hope, Loki. My dear child, I hope you can forgive me. In my plan, your brother Thor will become king of Asgard, while you, Loki, will reign over Jotunheim. Only through the relationship between you and Thor can the Nine Realms experience true peace."
Hearing Odin's words, Loki felt as though Mjolnir had struck his heart. Shocked, he realized the depth of his father's plan. At last, he and Thor would become different kings, guarding the Nine Realms together. In his father's heart, Loki was as important as Thor.
Loki, long overshadowed by Thor's strength and popularity among the Asgardians, had always felt inferior. Observing the crowd's focus on Thor, he had been saddened. But now… he realized his narrow-mindedness. His heart, long suppressed, was suddenly released, and he felt inexplicably lighter.
Loki said to Odin:"Father, I understand. I will not disappoint you again!"
Odin observed Loki's response and finally relaxed. He had always kept Loki's Frost Giant heritage a secret, worried it might break him emotionally. But to Odin's surprise, Loki accepted it willingly, no longer despondent or anxious. Satisfied, Odin ordered Loki's restraints removed and assigned a skilled physician to attend him. Once Loki was confirmed fully recovered, Odin turned to Thor, his voice stern:
"Next, it's your turn."
