The screen was on.
The footage continued.
On the other side of the monitor:
The Avengers were discussing Loki's recent actions.
Banner: "This guy talks too much."
Captain America: "I think he's doing it on purpose."
Captain America looked up at Thor, who was in the room.
Captain America: "Thor, what do you think he's trying to do?"
Thor: "He commands an army called the Chitauri. They're not from the Nine Realms, nor any known planet. Loki plans to lead them against Earth, and they'll certainly follow him. I think his bargaining chip is the Tesseract."
Captain America: "An army? From outer space?"
Asgard.
Odin sat on his throne. Hearing the word "Chitauri," his expression immediately changed.
As king of the gods, he made things very clear: the Chitauri are not from the Nine Realms, but from an unknown world. Though individually weak, the first person to destroy their mothership can end the battle quickly.
Yet, this is just a surface-level view. From Odin's understanding, the Chitauri don't easily follow orders—especially not from the Nine Realms.
Odin narrowed his eyes, scrutinizing Loki.
Odin (thinking): "Loki dares to trade the Tesseract with them! How could he? Everyone knows the Chitauri are a race of pure combat instinct. They don't even understand the concept of 'trade.' Could there be another leader behind this Chitauri army?"
He focused his gaze on the screen, trying to glean more valuable information.
Inside SHIELD:
Nick Fury's face darkened as he watched the screen.
Fury: "Kree, Skrulls, Norse gods… and now the Chitauri? The Avengers plan must be implemented immediately."
Banner pondered the conversation between Captain America and Thor.
Banner: "So he opened a portal to take Dr. Selvig."
Thor: "Yes. He's my friend."
Black Widow looked at Thor sympathetically.
Black Widow: "Loki controlled him with magic. The same goes for our teammate Hawkeye."
Inside SHIELD, Black Widow felt a glimmer of hope.
She had been trained from childhood in the Red Room to become a top assassin. She had taken lives—countless, whether for good or ill. Though she had joined SHIELD later and worked with Hawkeye, the guilt of her bloody past lingered.
She never imagined that she would one day become a superhero, known as a protector of the world. Thinking of this, she smiled.
Black Widow: "The Avengers… looks like I have a new home."
Hawkeye, standing beside her, wasn't so thrilled.
Hawkeye: "Wait… isn't this supposed to be a society that values science? Why am I still under Loki's magic?""No, it must be a failure in my willpower and training. Today, I decide! I will no longer hold back. I will show who truly commands this body!"

Captain America felt something was off.
Cap: "I don't understand why Loki surrendered. How could he command this army?"
Banner judged that Captain America was thinking incorrectly.
Banner: "We shouldn't focus too much on Loki. He's unpredictable, in my view… a madman."
Thor bristled at this.
Thor: "You'd better watch your words. Loki may be unreasonable, but he's a god—and he's my brother."
Asgard.
Loki watched his brother's actions and felt a warm surge in his chest.
He had seen the footage clearly: himself in the video, stealing the Tesseract, negotiating with the Chitauri, attempting to lead them to conquer Earth—a complete mess.
Yet even in this chaos, his brother Thor faced accusations from Earth's people and still protected him.
Loki glanced at Thor. He noticed Thor looking back. Though chastised by Odin, carefree Thor had quickly brushed it off.
Thor (smiling at Loki): "Don't worry, brother. No matter how badly you mess things up, no matter what disasters you create… as long as I'm alive, I'll protect you."
At that moment, the brothers felt their hearts connect—brotherly love in its purest form.
Black Widow immediately objected.
Black Widow: "He killed eighty people in two days."
Thor quickly corrected himself.
Thor: "Don't blame me—he's my cousin. And adopted at that."
Asgard.
Loki noticed Thor's quick correction and couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy.
Loki (thinking): "Brother, didn't you just promise to protect me?"
Thor, frustrated with his own future self, thought: "How can I be so unreliable? So shameless! One moment I warn someone, the next I call Loki my brother… and then I change my words!"
Suddenly, Thor—never known for cleverness—found a way to handle the awkward moment. He immediately changed the subject and turned to ask Odin:
Thor: "Father, Loki was also born of my mother, wasn't he? Why say he's adopted?""Father, you'd better explain."
Odin felt it like sitting on pins and needles, like a fishbone stuck in the throat. Loki's origins had always been a mystery. Unexpectedly, dutiful Thor had aimed the question straight at his father to avoid personal embarrassment.
Thor (thinking): "This wave is coming straight for me!"
He couldn't help but applaud his own cleverness.
The crowd's attention shifted from him to Odin. Thor grinned, thinking:
Thor (thinking): "Now it's your turn to panic, old man!"
