Chapter 24 - Enchantment

In the Minecraft World

Taro opened a chest and pulled out four obsidian, two diamonds, and one singular book. With everything he took out, it was enough to craft one singular enchantment table.

However, to maximize the effectiveness of the enchantment table, he needed to craft fifteen bookshelves, which would require a lot of paper and leather.

Taro looked at the cows and sighed. "I have enough leather, but I don't have the sugar canes."

He searched for sugar canes in his chest, as he remembered grabbing some while trying to find the plains biome.

"There's only seven of them… I guess I can make a sugar cane farm."

Taro gathered all the resources, which took almost three Minecraft days. The resources he gathered were five mud blocks, one water bucket, five hoppers, chests for storage, a stack of stone for structure, a stack of glass, five redstone dust, five pistons, five observers, and finally, the sugar canes.

It was a small and simple farm — one of the easiest in Minecraft — in a world where hundreds of automatic farms existed, made by players who never touched real grass.

After the automatic farm was built, Taro killed enough cows for leather and repopulated them while waiting for the sugar canes. And once everything was finished, he gathered all the sugar cane and created books for the bookshelves.

He went inside the house and dug down to make himself an enchantment room, where he placed all the bookshelves and the enchantment table. Once everything was finished, he finally clicked on the enchantment table and placed a pickaxe.

[Efficiency 1 (1 Lapis and 5 Levels)

Unbreaking 2 (2 Lapis and 15 Levels)

Fortune 2 (3 Lapis and 30 Levels)]

Taro hummed. "Hmmm. What level am I?" He closed the tab and opened the Minecraft inventory, where he could see his level. "I'm level 56? I remember last time I was only level 16 from mining and killing mobs… Is it because I killed people in the ninja world?"

Taro pondered. "I'll need to test that out once I'm done with everything."

He reopened the enchantment table and placed a different item this time — a kunai from the ninja world. When the enchantments appeared, his jaw dropped.

[Knockback 4 (7 Lapis and 38 Levels)

Piercing 6 (10 Lapis and 50 Levels)

Aerodynamics 1 (20 Lapis and 60 Levels)]

Taro shook his head. "These aren't in Minecraft! Well, the first two are, but the levels on them are way too high!"

He removed the kunai and took out the sword Kise had given him from the system inventory, placing it on the enchantment table.

[Knockback 5 (10 Lapis and 50 Levels)

Explosion 3 (15 Lapis and 55 Levels)

Bleeding 4 (30 Lapis and 80 Levels)]

Taro's eyes widened as he read the enchantments. "I wonder what they do… Too bad there's no description for enchantments."

He wanted to test out what the enchantments would look like, so he picked the Explosion 3 enchantment, bringing his level down to six.

Excited, he took the sword from the enchantment table and went outside to test it. He found a nearby tree and took his stance. He raised his sword and performed a clean swipe. But to his disappointment, nothing happened.

"What? Is it RNG?"

He tried striking the tree multiple times, but still, nothing happened. He then walked toward one of his chickens and performed a clean swing — and yet, still nothing.

"Do I need to add chakra?"

Once he channeled his chakra into the sword, it gave off a blue aura, representing his chakra. Moments later, the chakra shifted to orange, and heat began to rise from the sword.

Taro smiled and lightly sliced one of the chickens — then suddenly, a massive explosion engulfed half of them, killing them and leaving no drops behind.

Boom!

The explosion caused Taro to shield his eyes from the flash, while the knockback forced him to take several steps back.

When he opened his eyes, he saw that half of his chickens were now gone — and even their loot had been destroyed. "What the fuck! That was insane!"

Rather than being solemn about the chickens, he felt his blood boil with excitement.

"It doesn't take that much chakra. If anything, the chakra consumption is less than normal."

He gathered chakra on the sword once again, and the same orange aura appeared. "So it doesn't have a cooldown."

This time, he moved away from the base and swung the sword into the air, not hitting anything.

Boom!

The massive explosion caused the ground to shake slightly. Blocks were destroyed, and the explosion size was at least ten feet wide.

"Hohoho! I need to make an XP farm as soon as possible! I can make a ton of these swords!"

Taro looked at the destroyed ground and pondered. "I wonder… can I make paper bombs out of this? If I remember correctly, a single book can contain enchantments. I wonder if I could do the same for scrolls and papers from the ninja world."

Wanting to test his idea, he rushed toward the house and opened his inventory. He took ten papers that he'd won as a reward and cut them into smaller pieces. Then, he placed them in the enchantment table.

[Explosion 10 (40 Lapis and 90 Levels)

Explosion 15 (50 Lapis and 110 Levels)

Explosion 25 (100 Lapis and 140 Levels)]

Confused, Taro yelled, "W-What?!" He removed the enchanted paper and placed an uncut piece of paper in its place — and the result was the same. "Is it because it's from the system?"

Wondering if system rewards received stronger enchantments, he took out a broken katana that he'd won from the system and placed it on the enchantment table.

[Sharpness 20 (100 Lapis and 120 Levels)

Shattered Pieces 8 (120 Lapis and 160 Levels)

Sealing 10 (200 Lapis and 230 Levels)]

Taro's hand shook. "Ha… Ha… Haha… In the end, Minecraft is still my greatest reward!"
