By the time Zarek finished building the carriage, the sky had already begun to dim.
The air had grown cooler too, carrying that stillness that always came just before night settled fully.
Maelina stepped back from where she stood, examining the carriage with an impressed look on her face.
"Well," she said, folding her arms. "I think that's enough work for one day. We can't move any further tonight."
Eliora looked around, then asked, "Is it safe to stay here? I mean… this is an open field."
Maelina smirked. "Who exactly do you think can hurt us?"
Eliora opened her mouth, then closed it again.
Zarek turned to her. "Come," he said.
She walked over.
"Climb and test it," he instructed.
Eliora placed her hand on the wooden side and carefully climbed in.
She had barely settled when Zarek held up a hand.
"Wait."
She paused.
He pulled out a thick fur cloak and spread it across the wooden seat, adjusting it so it covered the entire seat.
