Yagami shook his head.
He cleared away the mess of thoughts that had gotten stirred up by that accidental "primitive scene" he sensed earlier and pushed his perception back toward the lake.
The Iwa-nin had long left the area — unknowingly passing by death itself.
"Use the primary draw."
After storing all the junk the system spat out earlier, Yagami gave the order again.
[Ding! Congratulations, master, you obtained: … three Senzu Beans … and a pair of Squid Girl Bracelets.]
"…Huh?"
This time luck was on his side — two blue-tier items.
Yagami instantly recognized the Senzu Beans.
god-tier food.
Eat one, and your stamina recovers instantly with zero side effects.
Way better than a food pill.
But the "Squid Girl Bracelet"…?
He'd never heard of that.
Sensing his confusion, the system chimed in:
[The Squid Girl Bracelet is an item from the world of "Invading Squid Girl."]
[It can freely adjust the wearer's weight. The adjustable range is: 0.0005 kg to 20,000 kg.]
"…WHAT?!"
Yagami froze.
A bracelet that can adjust body weight?
Down to half a gram…
Up to twenty. tons.
Something like this should NOT be in a primary lottery.
For a moment he wondered if the system was glitching again.
[Ding!]
The system hurried to explain:
[Full control of this item requires long-term proficiency. Due to difficulty of mastery, the system temporarily lowered it by two draw tiers.]
"Ohhh. I get it now."
That explanation made sense.
Except… it also made him happier.
If something originally belonged in a high-tier pool but got "exceptionally lowered"—
Yeah.
It was definitely a jackpot.
[Reminder: Please use the bracelet cautiously. Setting weight too high may render you unable to move.]
"Understood."
He had no intention of wearing it now.
He'd figure out how to use it after returning home.
Yagami climbed out of the river, pulled a clean outfit from his storage scroll, and put it on.
"Let's go."
In a good mood, he called over Kakashi and Tekuno.
On the way, he took out two packets of french fries and tossed them to Tekuno.
"Waaah—Captain, you brought SNACKS!?"
Tekuno lit up immediately.
He had just finished licking an empty bag in secret a moment earlier.
Perfect timing.
Because Kakashi was injured, their pace slowed.
By the time they reached Konoha, three days had passed.
Kakashi was taken straight to the hospital for treatment.
Yagami headed to the Hokage Building to submit their report.
Inside the Hokage's Office
"What!? Surrounded by over a dozen Iwa-nin!?"
Hiruzen stood to his feet the moment he heard the report.
What was supposed to be a simple deliver-and-receive mission had turned into a near-death crisis.
According to the situation described, it was a miracle the three of them returned alive.
Being outnumbered five-to-one…
Most teams would've died.
"Yes," Yagami said. "The opposing squad was led by two Jōnin. One specialized in camouflage and stealth—I killed him. The other wore a chicken-nest hairstyle and used a dual Hidden Blade."
Hiruzen pulled a stack of intelligence documents from under his desk.
He flipped rapidly through them.
Front page: Iwagakure — Top Secret
"Are these the two?"
He placed two files with photos on the desk.
Yagami blinked.
He hadn't expected Konoha's intelligence network to have pictures of enemy Jōnin.
"Yes," Yagami confirmed. "Those are the ones."
"These two are fairly well-known within Iwagakure…" Hiruzen murmured. "To kill a Jōnin while being surrounded… that's extraordinary."
He didn't question the validity.
Kakashi had been there.
The details matched his condition.
Nothing smelled like a lie.
Yagami stood quietly, thinking:
If not for Bullet Time letting me spot that footprint on the lake… Kakashi's corpse would be the one on the table right now.
"Wait."
Hiruzen pulled their mission file closer.
He marked two ticks on the form.
Then handed it to Yagami.
Yagami's eyes widened slightly.
The mission was officially marked as completed, despite failing to retrieve the intel — because the intel agent was compromised first.
But TWO ticks…
That meant double reward.
"For surviving an A-class crisis," Hiruzen said. "You deserve it."
"…Then I will take my leave."
Yagami bowed and turned to go.
"Alright."
Hiruzen waved him off.
He still had to visit Kakashi.
A genius injured on a mission always drew special concern.
After all…
Geniuses and ordinary shinobi never received the same treatment.
