Bryan's POV
I woke up alone in our bed for the fifth night in a row, and the house felt empty without Alice and the twins, even Catherine staying in the guest room couldn't fill the silence that had taken over since Alice left.
My phone showed three missed calls from Alice, and part of me wanted to call her back, but another part was still too angry about her taking the job at Chen & Associates to have a rational conversation.
"You need to eat something," Catherine said, appearing in my doorway with a plate of eggs I didn't want. "Bryan you've barely eaten since Alice left."
"I'm not hungry," I said but Catherine set the plate on my nightstand anyway.
"Then at least shower and get dressed," Catherine insisted. "You have a board meeting in two hours, and you can't show up looking like this."
I looked at myself in the mirror, and realized she was right. I had dark circles under my eyes, and I hadn't shaved in days, and I looked exactly like a man whose wife had just left him.
