Alice's POV
My first day as CEO of Hale Enterprises started with me throwing up in the executive bathroom. Morning sickness had hit hard at seven months pregnant with twins, and the stress of taking over Bryan's position wasn't helping.
"You okay in there?" Victoria's voice came through the bathroom door.
"Fine," I called back, rinsing my mouth and looking at myself in the mirror. I looked tired and swollen and completely unprepared to run a billion-dollar company.
I walked out and Victoria handed me a bottle of water. "You don't have to do this," she said gently. "You could tell Diana you need more time."
"I don't need more time," I said, taking a sip of water. "I need to prove I can do this."
"You don't have to prove anything." Victoria said.
"Yes I do," I said, walking toward the elevator that would take me to what used to be Bryan's office and was now mine. "Everyone thinks I only got this position because Diana liked my father, I need to show them I earned it."
