Alice's POV - Six Months Later
I adjusted my maternity dress for the third time, looking at myself in the mirror of my new office. Six months pregnant and I was showing now, a proper baby bump that made everything real in a way it hadn't been before.
"You look beautiful," Bryan said from the doorway, making me jump. I turned to find him leaning against the frame in his usual expensive suit, tie slightly loosened from the morning meetings.
"You're supposed to be in the board meeting," I said, walking over to my desk where papers were stacked high. Being promoted to VP of Marketing meant more responsibility and longer hours but I loved it.
"I told them I needed five minutes with my wife," Bryan said, closing the door behind him and locking it. The click of the lock made my heart rate pick up.
"Bryan, people will notice you're gone," I said, even as he crossed the room toward me with that look in his eyes that made my knees weak.
