Alice's POV
Dr. Chen stood in the doorway pointing the gun at me and Victoria, his face covered in cuts and blood from the explosions, and his white coat was torn and dirty. He looked nothing like the calm professional doctor I'd met months ago when Bryan first introduced us.
"Get away from her," Victoria said, stepping in front of my hospital bed even though she had no weapon and could barely stand.
"Move," Dr. Chen said coldly, cocking the gun. "This has nothing to do with you."
"Everything has to do with me," Victoria shot back, and there was something different in her voice now, something stronger. "I'm the one who helped your father plan all of this, I'm the one who recruited Margaret and Daniel and Sophia, so if you're going to shoot someone, shoot me."
"Victoria, what are you doing?" I whispered, shocked by what she was saying.
