Well, turns out these guys also leave some peace. Damian is left alone for the night. No one sneaked into his room, probably thinking he is busy cleaning his room while shivering from the dark and damp environment. The alarm rang and Damian woke up. He got ready and left the room after applying few lock charms and traps on it.
No one knows what kind of stunt they will pull if he leaves his room open and without any security. He entered the common room while slytherins gave him a cold and indifferent gaze. It's useless to ask the way from them, he exited the common room on his own. He remembered the path to exit the dungeons, he just doesn't know the way to classrooms.
For now, he will head to the great hall. As for whether he can find it, he certainly can. Students will be headed there. As Damian exited the common room and arrived at the moving stair cases he saw some students. Quickly going to them he asked," excuse me, I'm first year and don't know how to head to the great hall. Can you help me? ".
The ones he stopped turns out to be from Hufflepuff. They looked at him warily at first before saying," we're heading there too. You can follow us ", Damian frowned as he sensed their wariness. But he didn't care. To him as long as his work is done, it's worth it.
He won't bother clearing some misunderstanding and prejudices. His efforts won't work on then any way, he learned that from his past of being orphan. He followed them and along the way he chatted and learned some things. For example, the first year classes, the classrooms and the bad reputation of Slytherin.
He started with lamenting how his room is isolated and the writings on his walls. They gave him sympathetic glanced to him before started talking. After learning information and arriving at the greeted hall, he didn't even bother sitting with slytherins. From yesterday it's clear no one in Slytherin will be friendly to him. They will be atmost neutral to him.
Damian learned the names of the hufflepuffs too while sitting with them. The first boy is called Cedric and apparently he is the golden boy who is always extra ordinary among his peers. He is first in almost everything in his year. Studies, quidditch, handsomeness. He is practically called the crown jewel of Hufflepuff.
Damian has no words for this. He just observed Cedric, the eye of truth said Cedric is not lying nor are the ones praising him. Damian talked to Cedric for sometime and had breakfast together ignoring the strange gazes he is receiving from all four houses. Damian turned to Griffyndor table, but he didn't see Harry or Ron. There is only Hermione Granger who barged into the cabin yesterday in the train.
Damian continued talking to Cedric and even managed to get the locations of classrooms. Cedric turns out to be very interested in Herbology and charms. He is also a fan of quidditch. Damian started with few words he knew about them and Cedric continued those subjects.
That is how one continues a conversation even though it's boring, never show your bored or tired look and spoke a few words about what they're interested in while occasionally participating in the conversation and trying to get some information on what you need. He learned this while he is working as a cleaner and waiter in cafes and shops.
Business people and those who try to curry the favours from their higher officials usually perform this kind of tactic.
" I personally think some harsh ingredients like the snake glands can replaced by soothing ingredients like the moon flowers and acotinum so the potion will work more efficiently. They will also have a cooling sensation and soothing effect. I tried them in many of potions which will be drank and applied to cure effects like burns, inflamtory wounds, infections. Moon stone works even better but it's a little bug expensive compared to the herbs grown in the school garden ", Cedric said.
" Yeah that works. I also considered that part when reading the cure for boils. We need to grind the snake fangs to powder for that. Instead we can replace that moon stone. But snake fangs are more cheaper. The main reason is that you can just conjure and rip the fangs. That's what I learned from the Diagon Alley potion shop owner told me when I asked him the same question ", Damian said.
This conversation continued until the warning rang. Cedric immediately left after saying afew words," we will continue this conversation later. Now it's time for classes. Remember not to be late for professor McGonagall's transfiguration. She hated when students are late to her class especially when it's their first class in Hogwarts ".
He practically ran out of the great hall. ' well at least I got to know what room of requirement is? ', Damian thought. Room of Requirement is one of the less famous rumour in Hogwarts that when a person really needs it, Hogwarts will let them find the room to fulfil the need. It changes according to the needs and wish of the user.
And it's pretty hard to find. In the last few decades no one opened the room of requirement. At least none were known to open it. According to Cedric it's more like a myth now as no one in current Hogwarts Students saw it. The professors may know but they won't tell the students about it.
Damian picked up his bag and left for classes. He arrived at the classroom and opened the door to find a tabby cat with wierd golden lines around its eyes in the shape of spectacles. Damian eyes narrowed, he saw the cat directly looking at him and it's eyes carried a spark that no other cat he ever saw had. He used the eye of truth and a smile appeared on his face.
