The black-colored door in the white wall looked very cool. The handle looked a bit complicated to Max, as it had a huge display and touch buttons all over it.
A smart lock? Nice.
Max, from his skill [Locksmith], knows what type of lock it was. Although he has never seen this kind of lock in his life, Johann used a key to open the lock, and three of them followed suit.
"This here is an open living area, with a 55-inch TV. That's the master bed, and that's another bedroom. The kitchen is separated that way. Everything is modern and chosen by my daughter.
Damage anything, I'll take compensation from you—sofas, kitchen cabinets, beds—everything is brand new. So what do you think?"
Max walked around. The apartment was really good. It has two rooms. He can turn the smaller one into a private study. 3000€ was not much compared to the security he was getting, and life looked much easier with every piece of furniture already available for him.
"I think I'll take it."
"Maxi, can we talk for a moment? Privately."
When Max nodded his head and blurted out his decision, Blanka's hand landed on his shoulder a bit intimately, interrupting the whole conversation. Danica also seemed to be in with her sister. She walked ahead and distracted the old Johann.
"Sure, let's talk in this bedroom."
"Alright."
Max instantly understood something was up, so he played along with Blanka and pointed at the nearest bedroom. Blanka, nodding her head happily, went ahead, and after Max entered the room, she locked the door.
"What are you doing, Max?"
"What am I doing? I don't understand?"
"The deposit is 15,000€ and 3000€ rent for this month, total 18,000€. That's a lot of money, Maxi."
"I understand that. Don't worry, I have more than that. I've sold my small business before coming here."
Seeing the care in her eyes, Max let her call him Maxi. Some people just become intimate without even trying. Hearing he has more money than that, Blanka looked at his eyes for a few seconds, then nodded her head.
"It's a nice place. I'll hang out with you."
"Please don't…"
Max wanted to tell her how important it is to study in the freshman year, but he failed. She ran out of the room excitedly. Max could only look at her back while she whispered something in Danica's ear, who nodded her head in response.
Shaking his head, Max walked out of the room. Danica nodded her head and ended her conversation with Johann to let them talk about the apartment.
"So, what do you think?"
"I think I will take it. Do you take cash?"
"I only take cash."
"Nice to meet you. My name is Maximilian Weber."
"Johann Wadephul."
Max extended his hand toward the landlord to shake it and finalize the deal. Johann shook it with a smile on his face. Then he even shook hands with Danica, who brought him such a nice tenant who didn't bargain at all.
"No loud parties are allowed. I don't care about how many girls you bring into the apartment. I'll call my lawyer to prepare the documents."
"Understood. I'll pay six months in advance."
"Suit yourself. Take this key and card to enter. This is mine; I'll give you yours when we sign the contract in about two hours."
Johann exited the apartment with his cane, leaving the trio alone. Max wanted to pay in advance because he heard in Munich landlords can increase the rent anytime. It will always depend on the situation. No one goes to the police for a slight rent increase.
"Congratulations, your apartment is better than mine, not going to lie."
"Maxi, I'll be here whenever I get free time so that you won't be bored to death."
Both sisters felt happy. Danica felt like she really was able to help and solidify her sister's new friendship for good, while Blanka was excited to get a new friend on the first day of her being here.
"Y..yeah, thank you."
Max scratched his head with embarrassment. He was not used to this kind of situation. Then he looked around a bit and inhaled a big breath. The air quality was very nice, and it smelled like home—his own home.
This is beyond even my bestest dream ever.
"Well, don't be happy too early. You need groceries, clothes, and many essentials—day-to-day things."
Danica, saying this, sat down on the couch leisurely while Blanka went ahead to explore the place. Max nodded his head in acknowledgment. The apartment has all kinds of furniture and a stove. He needs to buy utensils and food.
"I think you guys should take rest here. I'll go downstairs to get the cash and something nice to eat. After that, you can show me around more. I'll check out the neighborhood while I am at it."
Max suggested seeing Danica's tired face, while he didn't even know where Blanka went off to. She was like a little baby, curious about everything.
"That sounds like a plan. Do you mind if I take a nap? I've not slept well last night. Working independently has its perks."
"Sure. Make yourself at home."
Max happily nodded his head. Then, taking his backpack and the card to enter the building, he left. In the lift, he counted all the cash he had—9,900€ in 100€ bills, while the rest was change.
I need 33,000€. I'll keep that €900 for day-to-day use. First, I'll go withdraw 24,000€ now and get this apartment paid. Then tomorrow, I'll go shopping for clothes and stuff, then withdraw some more to fulfill the side mission.
A smile formed on Max's face as he planned for the future. The years of worry gave him a slight mark on his forehead, as he used to squint too much. He plans on reducing that as well.
