Chapter 61
Good grief!
With things turning out this way, Root definitely couldn't sit still.
Their ultimate goal was to use Sakyo's Mangekyō to control the jinchūriki.
If Sakyo died, what reason would they have left to carry out such a complicated plan?
None!
Swish, swish, swish~
Root ninjas appeared one after another, surrounding Uchiha Itachi.
The leading Root ninja said: "Uchiha Itachi, your time with Uchiha Sakyo is over."
Itachi asked coldly: "Who is this girl? Why does she have the Sharingan?"
Itachi's heart was already scarred beyond measure.
His little sister was right in front of him, yet he had to pretend not to recognize her and even attack her.
He even had to ask others who Sakyo was!
The Root captain paused. The clever man seemed to notice something strange.
When Sakyo had been exposed earlier, the captain thought the mission had failed.
But in reality… Uchiha Itachi hadn't realized Sakyo was Sakyo?
In that case…
The Root captain shot back just as sharply: "Uchiha Itachi, these aren't things you need to concern yourself with."
"Leave."
"Only if you leave now will you be able to meet Uchiha Sakyo again in the future."
After the captain finished, Tenraku Kumo cooperated perfectly, shouting at Itachi: "Big brother! Go ahead! Once I get stronger, I'll come find you!"
Root showed no reaction. In their eyes, this was just Tenraku Kumo's way of deceiving Uchiha Itachi.
Itachi turned his head toward Tenraku Kumo, but his gaze remained fixed on Sakyo the entire time.
In the darkness, no one knew he was speaking to Tenraku Kumo while actually looking at Uchiha Sakyo.
Itachi's pupils trembled violently. He spoke with earnest advice:
"Don't make friends with strange people. Don't leave Konoha. I have things I must do. Once my mission is complete, I'll come back!"
No one knew whether these words were for Sakyo… or for Tenraku Kumo.
Tenraku Kumo knew her place, but she still had to act as if they were meant for her.
Tears of gratitude streamed down her face as she cried beautifully…
The performance finally came to an end.
From the Root captain's perspective, the mission had been barely completed.
After Uchiha Itachi walked far away, the Root captain let out a sigh of relief. He glanced coldly at Naruto and Sakyo, then turned and led everyone away.
Along the way, Sakyo wanted to attack Root, but Naruto stopped her.
If they had intended to wipe out all the Root in the forest from the beginning, they wouldn't have needed to go through all this acting.
…
Late at night, the dense forest finally returned to peace.
This clash of schemes and counter-schemes had come to a temporary close.
Naruto and Sakyo walked back toward their camp. Sakyo's condition didn't look good.
Awakening the Mangekyō Sharingan, followed by a series of bizarre events—she was now utterly exhausted.
After explaining everything to Sakyo, Naruto said to her:
"So, from beginning to end, our real enemies have always been Root and Danzō."
"Got it, Little Sakyo?"
Naruto didn't reveal the secrets about the Uchiha clan he knew from watching Naruto in his previous life.
He only singled out the matter of Danzō and Uchiha Itachi.
Sakyo didn't understand what Naruto meant. Uchiha Itachi had killed her parents and clan—he had to die.
Or at the very least, become a living breeding machine.
But right now, Sakyo was too tired. She had no energy left to argue with Naruto.
