Chapter 60
Sakyo was suddenly caught off guard by Uchiha Itachi's question, feeling a bit confused.
How was it strange for her, as a member of the Uchiha clan, to have the Sharingan?
Good grief!
If you're going to act, you have to go all in!
Naruto could only think: good grief, Itachi's reaction speed was something he could never match.
After thinking for a moment, Naruto whispered to Sakyo: "We need to make Root believe that you think Uchiha Itachi is asking about your Mangekyō Sharingan."
Under the dim moonlight, visibility was poor and the distance was far—no one could hear Naruto speak, or even see his lips move.
Naruto continued whispering: "Little Sakyo, trust me—I won't harm you."
"Right now, just pretend you think Uchiha Itachi is asking about the Mangekyō Sharingan."
"In other words, just tell Uchiha Itachi directly: 'This has nothing to do with you.'"
"Little Sakyo, your goal right now is to act like you're out for revenge against Itachi, while making Root think Itachi hasn't realized you're really you."
Sakyo also whispered back: "What? Uzumaki Naruto, what the hell are you on about?"
Naruto had no choice. While dodging Uchiha Itachi's attacks, he explained Root's plan to Sakyo.
After understanding the full situation, Sakyo immediately felt a massive headache.
What even was all this?
Okay, let's break it down.
First, Root arranged for Akiji Kumo to impersonate Tenraku Kumo and enter the ninja academy.
Then they had Tenraku Kumo take photos at school and send them to Uchiha Itachi, making Itachi believe Tenraku Kumo was Uchiha Sakyo.
But unexpectedly, Uchiha Itachi had seen through Danzō's scheme long ago.
Itachi shared his suspicions with Naruto. Their plan was to make Root believe their own scheme was still proceeding successfully and remained intact.
That way, Akiji Kumo would continue being Uchiha Sakyo to Itachi, and Tenraku Kumo to Root.
In this way, Akiji Kumo would become Uchiha Itachi's spy inside Root.
So right now, what Sakyo needed to do…
…was make Root believe that Sakyo thought Uchiha Itachi was asking about the "Mangekyō Sharingan."
But from Root's perspective (believing they were watching Itachi), Itachi was asking about the "Sharingan."
This perfectly avoided the moment where Uchiha Itachi and Uchiha Sakyo would recognize each other.
However, Uchiha Sakyo still needed to attack Uchiha Itachi—that fit her revenge-driven persona.
And Uchiha Itachi needed to counterattack Sakyo—in Root's eyes, it had to look like he was attacking an enemy, not sparring with his little sister.
But there was one fatal flaw: just moments ago, Sakyo had activated her Sharingan right in front of Uchiha Itachi.
That proved Uchiha Sakyo's Sharingan could be turned on and off normally—proving she was genuine Uchiha blood.
But… Uchiha Itachi deliberately ignored it and asked the question in a way that magically avoided the topic.
Uh… the more you think about it, the more confusing it gets.
Anyway—time to fight!
Sakyo didn't know why Naruto was telling her all this, but she figured her current strength wasn't enough to defeat Uchiha Itachi anyway.
So why not follow Naruto's advice and play along this once?
"Amaterasu!"
Black flames surged toward Uchiha Itachi. Itachi's body suddenly turned into a flock of crows and scattered.
BOOM~
The crows reformed. Uchiha Itachi, now with anger in his eyes, activated Susanoo and prepared to attack Sakyo.
