Chapter 158: The Mantis Man
No sooner had he spoken than four or five sets of Blacklight armor emerged sequentially from Silas's shadow.
"No~" Therrus realized he probably wouldn't be able to leave today, unless Destiny in front of him decided to let them go.
"I don't want to die..." Sylli screamed in despair. She had managed to endure the experiment and gain great power; she wouldn't be willing to die before she had properly enjoyed the benefits of that power.
"I'll risk it!" Brock roared. "We're going to die anyway, so we might as well fight back. Maybe we'll survive!" With that, Brock's body turned completely crimson, and he charged toward Silas.
Silas yawned, bored. These few people truly failed to pique his interest.
"Alpha," Silas commanded.
Alpha immediately understood Silas's meaning and manipulated one set of Blacklight armor to fly toward Brock.
"Get lost!" Brock punched the incoming Blacklight armor away. He reached Silas and yelled, "Die, you piece of trash!"
Silas instantly extended his right hand. The glove section of the Blacklight armor on his back quickly attached to his right hand. Boom!
"Is that all the strength you have?" Silas easily caught Brock's punch. His base strength was already over ten tons, plus the enhancement from the armor, catching Brock's punch was extremely easy.
"Ugh!" Brock gritted his teeth, using all his might, yet he couldn't shake Silas in the slightest.
Silas smiled slightly at the struggling Brock. He extended his left hand, and the left hand component of the Blacklight armor immediately flew onto it.
"Goodbye." Just as Silas was about to finish off Brock with a left-handed strike, a voice suddenly rang out.
"Wait!" The speaker was Therrus.
He had moved behind a hostage and was gripping the hostage's neck. Therrus intended to use the hostage to threaten Silas.
"Aren't you a superhero? If you want the hostage to live, you have to let us go," Therrus said confidently. He believed that Destiny would definitely let them go for the sake of the hostage.
"Hostage?" Silas thought for a moment and said, "I almost forgot."
Suddenly! Therrus felt a blow to the back of his head. Then, the hostage was dragged into the Shadow Realm by four or five Black Shadow Ninjas.
"This!" Therrus was astonished. He understood that he had been utterly defeated, having lost his only means of survival.
"You roll too." Silas jumped up and delivered a kick to Brock's left cheek, sending him tumbling into a shadow on the floor. Following that, a Shadowkhan Eater with a huge skull poked its head out of the shadow, bit Brock's head, and dragged him into the Shadow Realm.
Everything that happened left Therrus completely dumbfounded.
"Don't be so surprised," Silas comforted him. "By the way, even if you still had the hostage, I wouldn't care at all."
"Is that really the kind of thing the people call a superhero would say?" Therrus scoffed. It seemed the reality behind superheroes wasn't as they appeared on the surface.
"I never said I was a superhero," Silas said, looking directly at Therrus. "It's just a title those people put on me, it was never authorized by me."
"Can you give me a chance to live?" Therrus didn't want to die. No one wants to die, especially someone like him, who had gained special powers and was about to die so ignominiously before he could even show his skills!
"A chance to live?" Silas chuckled. "Alright~ We'll play a game of cat and mouse. He's the cat, and you're the mouse."
Silas randomly summoned a Black Shadow Ninja and pointed at it, saying, "He will chase you. If he touches you or hits you with a shuriken within five minutes, you lose."
"The price of losing is saying goodbye to this world. If you aren't caught, congratulations... you live." Silas looked at Therrus with interest and asked, "Are you playing?"
"Playing!" Therrus didn't hesitate, as this was his only chance to survive. He had to play!
"Very well..." Before Silas could finish speaking, his spider-sense suddenly went off. His body instinctively reacted, quickly standing up and sidestepping to the left. Smash! The chair Silas was sitting on was instantly sliced in half.
A humanoid monster, entirely green, with a pair of praying mantis-like scythes, appeared here.
"What the heck is that?" Silas quickly searched his memory. He didn't recall a monster like this in Marvel!
"Roar~" The monster let out a low growl, and white vapor escaped from its mouth.
"Who are you?" Silas asked, confused.
The monster didn't speak, but stared intensely at Silas, then suddenly launched an attack!
Silas's mind moved. The Rooster Talisman's magic activated, and the monster in front of him slowly floated up, swinging its scythe-like arms uselessly in mid-air.
"The game has begun." Silas turned his head to look at Therrus, who was still watching the fight. He hadn't expected Therrus not to flee during the chaos.
Therrus immediately reacted upon hearing this. He opened the bar door and ran out. The Black Shadow Ninja followed closely behind him.
"It's quiet now. Tell me... who exactly are you?" Silas couldn't recall this character.
The monster didn't answer Silas, only kept swinging its double blades in mid-air, looking quite comical.
"Is it a monster without intelligence?" Silas approached the monster. The Blacklight armor closely followed Silas's movements and gradually disassembled automatically. It encased the monster, leaving only its ferocious head exposed, the mandibles inside still moving.
"It really seems to have no intelligence." Silas raised his arm, and the armor plating on his arm shone a light into the monster's eyes. The monster's eyes were very murky, somewhat resembling cataracts, lacking the spiritual clarity of a normal person. Silas also found a series of numbers on the monster's neck, which read: 0001.
"Looks like something else unexpected has happened." Just as Silas finished speaking, Bang! Bang! Bang! Three sounds of shattering glass came as monsters identical to the Mantis Man appeared here, having burst through the window.
"And there's more than one." Silas's eyes scanned the three monsters back and forth. Apart from minor differences in size and the numbers on their bodies, they looked almost identical, like clones.
"Shadowkhan Eaters, come out and play with these little friends." Silas stepped back, summoning three Shadowkhan Eaters. The Eaters were as large and tall as the monsters. After all, a complete mismatch wouldn't be fun. Silas wanted the Eaters to get some practice. The Eaters were more aggressive than the monsters. Understanding Silas's intent, the moment they saw the monsters, they ran toward them on their short legs, mouths wide open.
A monster raised its scythe-like arm and slashed across a Eater's body. The evolution of the Eaters had significantly increased not only their size and attack power but also their considerable defense. They wouldn't disintegrate into a black mist from a slight injury, like the Black Shadow Ninjas. Considering their body hardness, they could probably withstand an armor-piercing bullet.
"They still haven't caught him?" Silas received a message from the Black Shadow Ninja.
