Chapter 156: The Ten Rings Appear
It was Killian, the one despised by Stark, who had now become the true mastermind behind the Ten Rings.
The only thing Silas wasn't sure about was whether this Ten Rings organization was the one from the movie, or the Mandarin version from the comics. If it was the movie version, Killian was the mastermind. If it was the comic version, he would have to be wary of the Mandarin's Ten Rings. Silas was still hoping for the comic book Mandarin, which would give him a chance to acquire those ten rings. Although he was currently acquiring Talismans one after another, no one ever complained about having too much power.
"So, what are you trying to say after all that?" Silas understood Peter very well. In situations like this, Peter was likely asking for his help again.
"Don't worry, Silas." Peter knew what Silas meant; he wanted Peter to grow up on his own. "I'm not asking you to help me find the mastermind. It's just that my primary goal now is to find the source of the explosions, so I can't keep a close watch on Teacher Klein."
"So, I have to leave the matter of Teacher Klein to you." Peter couldn't focus on two things at once, and oversight was inevitable. Since Silas didn't have much to do, he could hand this matter over to him.
Silas thought for a moment and nodded. "Of course, leave it to me." Silas had never told Peter that he had sent Black Shadow Ninjas to infiltrate as spies.
"Good." Peter felt relieved upon hearing this. Peter completely trusted Silas, with his strange superpowers and the elusive Black Shadow Corps, whose total numbers Peter still didn't know.
In the afternoon, back home, before Silas could lie down to play games, the Talisman Squad appeared, holding a lifelike golden chicken statue. This chicken statue was the famous Golden Rooster Award trophy. In the past six months, Silas had successfully deciphered the Talisman clue. Calling it 'deciphering' was less accurate than calling it luck. He had only unlocked one clue, and after six months, he still hadn't figured out the answer. Just as he was about to unlock the next clue, the Talisman Squad brought back different types of chickens from around the world. One of the Black Shadow Ninjas was holding the Golden Rooster Award trophy. He hadn't expected the guess to be right.
"The Floating Chicken." Silas smiled slightly. If he got the Rabbit Talisman next, he would be able to fly. The Rooster Talisman's ability allows the user to hover in the air using telekinesis, but it doesn't allow the user to truly fly. One must rely on the super speed of the Rabbit Talisman to achieve flight in the air.
Silas held the Golden Rooster Award trophy. A magical force slowly emerged from the trophy and merged into Silas's body.
"What a pleasant feeling." Silas closed his eyes, enjoying the power brought by the Talisman. With the Tiger Talisman momentarily flashing inside his body, the magic of all five Talismans achieved a state of balance, flowing within Silas.
Feeling the power in his body, Silas looked back at the table. Then, the table gradually began to float, swaying back and forth in mid-air. This indicated that Silas was still inexperienced with the Rooster Talisman. However, in just one minute, Silas completely mastered the power of floating.
"Unfortunately, the power of the Rooster Talisman isn't strong enough yet," Silas shook his head inwardly.
Silas looked up at the sky outside the window, when suddenly a red head appeared in front of him. "Woah!" Silas was startled.
Peter said apologetically, "Sorry, did I scare you?"
"No, I wasn't scared. I was just horrified by how ugly your Spider-Suit is," Silas refused to admit he had been scared.
"Well, I'm off to investigate the explosion incident then, bye!" Peter quickly left.
Silas walked to the window. Plates of armor emerged from his deep black shadow and slowly covered his body. Black mist condensed into a mask over his face. Silas twisted his neck and said, "It's time to stretch my legs."
With that, his entire body phased into the darkness and reappeared in the city center. Looking down at the streetscape, Silas counted softly in his mind: Three... Two...
Bang! A gunshot rang out.
"Fine, I underestimated it by one second." Silas had underestimated the timing.
Activating the thrusters on his back, Silas flew towards the scene of the incident.
A Bar
"You dirty whore! How dare you trick me?" A young man grabbed a woman's hair and slammed her head onto a wooden table. Thud! The table instantly splintered. The woman's forehead was wounded and bleeding profusely.
However, no one nearby stepped forward to stop the man; instead, they slowly moved toward the door.
"Did I say you could leave?" the young man stood up and asked fiercely. His name was Atherley Manel, and the woman he held had tricked him into this bar. Everyone inside the bar was their accomplice, and the group had forced Atherley into a strong-arm purchase scheme. Hot-tempered Atherley couldn't stand it, and he immediately became enraged, leading to the current situation. The reason the crowd was afraid of Atherley was that he had a hand grenade hanging from his waist, and if he pulled the pin, the consequences would be dire.
"What? Afraid of this grenade?" Atherley sneered. Clang! He tossed the unconscious woman aside and took out the grenade from his waist. Click! Atherley pulled the pin. Everyone fearfully dropped to the ground, but Atherley calmly took out a cigarette. A small flame emerged from the opening of the grenade. It turned out it wasn't a grenade at all, but a lighter!
Most importantly, this was in the United States. If it were in anywhere in the world, no one would believe it was a real grenade.
"F*ck! We were tricked by a lighter!" Everyone saw clearly that the "grenade" in Atherley's hand was just a lighter!
Click! Click! Four or five people pulled guns from their waists and pointed them at Atherley, cursing, "F*ck! Get down on your knees, or your head will be full of holes in the next second."
"Do you know," Atherley said, raising his head sinisterly, "that I hate people who threaten me the most?"
"Ah!" Streams of red light surged from Atherley's body. The veins on his body looked like they were flowing with magma.
"Monster..."
When they saw Atherley's transformation, everyone took a fearful step back.
"Don't be afraid, everyone! Just shoot! Maybe the cops will even give us a reward!" one man yelled.
As soon as he finished speaking, four or five gunshots echoed through the bar. When the bullets touched Atherley's body, they slowly melted into liquid metal.
"It's my turn to return the favor." Atherley's eyes were filled with malice. Before anyone could react, Atherley was in front of him and punched clean through the man's body. The man trembled, looking at Atherley, his pupils rapidly dilating as he stared in shock.
"Who told you to get so close to me?" Atherley pulled out his fist, and the man immediately fell to the floor, lifeless.
"Run!"
"That's a monster!"
"No! Don't kill me, I was forced."
A group of people desperately ran toward the exit. Atherley smiled and said, "Sorry, the organization ordered us not to expose ourselves yet, so dead men are the safest option."
