Chapter 155: The Organization Behind the Scenes Surfaces
The Black Shadow Corps could slip into Klein's shadow, which was the best place for concealment; they were natural ninjas.
"Mr. Stark, I apologize for causing you some trouble." Peter apologized awkwardly; this was him apologizing on behalf of Klein.
"It's nothing, I didn't take it to heart at all." Tony looked up at Stark Tower and said, "It's a good time to renovate this building anyway." Silas knew this place would become the assembly point for the Avengers.
"Is that so? Do you need my help?" Peter quickly asked.
"No." Tony was about to say he didn't need free child labor.
But Peter spoke first: "You only need to pay me a thousand dollars a month." After speaking, he looked at Stark with anticipation, even though his expression couldn't be seen beneath his mask.
"Uh... No!" Tony refused. "I don't need child labor."
"Please, Mr. Stark, five hundred dollars works too." Peter was desperate for money.
Tony just said, "See you guys," and flew away.
"Mr. Stark left," Peter said, watching Stark's departing silhouette.
"We should leave too, Peter. We have school tomorrow," Silas said.
"Okay~" Peter replied. "Did you finish the report the teacher asked us to write?"
"Roughly... finished." Silas hadn't done it at all. He could just assign it to the Black Shadow Corps, which also helped them advance their knowledge.
"Roughly?!" Peter put his hand on Silas's shoulder and said, "Don't worry, as your good brother, I! Peter Parker! will definitely help you finish that report with the remaining time we have."
"Forget it." Silas swatted Peter's hand away, opened the Shadow Realm, and stepped inside.
During this time, Peter often helped Silas with his schoolwork at night, but it wasn't free—it cost five dollars a night. That awful Peter was making money off his own brother.
"Hey! I can lower it for you, two dollars!" Peter quickly shouted, following Silas's footsteps.
Silas actually didn't care about the money; he had plenty in his Black Shadow Realm treasury. However, the nightly study sessions gave him a headache. Although his grades weren't as good as Peter's, they weren't bad either. His scores consistently remained in the middle-to-upper tier of the class. If he were to use the Talismans and the Black Shadow Corps, he could easily score much higher. Since the Black Shadow Corps are magical manifestations from the Jackie Chan Adventures world, they can share the same magical ability as the Snake Talisman. He could easily have a Black Shadow Ninja turn invisible and peek at Peter's answers.
The night moon slowly set, and the newborn sun rose, shining over the city and bringing a ray of morning light to the people.
Time quietly passed; six months had gone by.
In these six months, Peter continued to serve as the superhero Spider-Man, thoroughly establishing his reputation in Hell's Kitchen. He earned the nickname 'Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.' Of course, this was mainly because Peter always shouted, "Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man has arrived!" whenever he showed up.
The people arrested by Peter were the ones most deeply impacted. In the fourth month, those people actually formed an 'Anti-Spider-Man Alliance.' Since they were all ordinary people without much brainpower, the result was obvious: Peter sent the entire group to jail at once, saving him the trouble of tracking them down individually.
As for the worrying Klein, the organization eventually released him, and he continued working as a teacher at Midtown High School. Occasionally, he would join Peter in fighting crime or seek out Silas, Peter Parker's brother, to chat about his concerns in the Shadow Realm. Only Silas's Shadow Realm could shield the miniature camera and listening devices he was wearing. In the Shadow Realm, Klein wasn't afraid of the organization overhearing anything he said.
Silas could have had Alpha step forward, like J.A.R.V.I.S., to forcefully block the signal. However, Silas didn't do so, as he wasn't ready to reveal that card yet.
As for Silas himself, through the continuous flow of information from the Black Shadow Corps, Silas learned the name of the organization—the Ten Rings!
Thus, in order to get immediate intelligence on the Ten Rings, Silas sent a Black Shadow Ninja as an undercover agent. The ninja successfully infiltrated the Ten Rings and gradually climbed the ranks to become a high-level figure. Currently, his status was in the second tier, but this was only the superficial high level. The undercover Black Shadow Ninja had gained the trust of the Ten Rings' true high-ranking members and they were considering promoting him to the first tier. The current Ten Rings leadership has given the Black Shadow Ninja a new mission, and once completed, he will be promoted to the first tier.
Alpha has been brought into the real world by Silas, where it has learned human knowledge from the internet and is continuously improving itself and self-evolving. Blacklight has also advanced to Blacklight Generation 40, thanks to the cooperation between Alpha and Little Black, adding many new features.
With the equipment and material support from Silas, Peter also improved his Spider-Suit. However, it was not the Blacklight mech version. He simply added many practical features to his suit. For example, he added web-gliders on his sides to cope with emergencies where he might suddenly run out of web fluid. He also has four spare web fluid containers around his waist, and he personally modified the web-shooters. It now includes not only an electric web mode but also a sharper steel web mode, capable of slicing through concrete pillars half a meter thick. However, Peter uses this mode not for capturing criminals, but for rescue operations, cutting through debris blocking the way to save people. Night vision capability was added to the eyes. Although Peter could already see clearly at night, this function allows him to see even better.
When Peter asked where Silas got all this equipment. Silas would always answer that it was courteously provided by the wealth-loaded Stark. Peter never bothered to question Stark about it.
School Gym
Silas and Peter were doing sit-ups. Peter pretended to hold Silas's legs, speaking softly while watching the surrounding students: "Silas, did you know? There have been several mysterious explosions recently."
"I know." Silas sat up and said, "It's the incident where there were no traces of gunpowder or shrapnel at the scene after the explosion, right?"
"Exactly. I've been keeping an eye on this case lately, but I have no leads. I even sent out the Spider Squad." Just as Peter finished speaking, the P.E. teacher blew the whistle. Peter quickly sat down on the ground. Silas sat up, holding Peter's legs. The two swapped positions.
"This incident is indeed a bit strange." Silas said this outwardly, though in reality, he knew what was going on. Setting aside the undercover Black Shadow Ninja's reports, based on his knowledge of the Avengers storyline, this was related to the Extremis virus.
Killian, a poor boy previously ignored by Stark, was stood up by Stark and left on a rooftop all night. Having completely turned evil, he decided to take revenge on Stark. It made sense; at the time, there was a beautiful woman waiting to discuss life with Stark, so he naturally wouldn't pay attention to Killian.
