Chapter 122: Slamming Loki
The head of the Chitauri Leviathan was bitten off by the Shadow Behemoth. The surrounding buildings were completely destroyed by the massive ripple effect created by the clash between the two creatures.
Little Black had already taken Big Black and moved away to a more distant building.
"How did the Shadowkhan Eater grow that big?" Big Black asked in astonishment. This was terrifying; it even grew two hands.
"It took a lot of effort to feed it. This is the only one we've cultivated so far," Little Black said, having gone to great lengths to cultivate this Shadowkhan Eater.
The Shadowkhan Eater also had its limits, and the current state it was in was its strongest form. It not only grew a pair of hands but also a single red eye.
Boom! The Chitauri Leviathan was thoroughly defeated by the Shadowkhan Eater, which began to devour the Leviathan's body and its shadow. Even though the Shadowkhan Eater had reached its limit, the smaller Shadowkhan Eaters inside it were still clamoring to be fed.
The appearance of the giant Shadowkhan Eater quickly drew everyone's attention.
"What is that?" Steve asked, taking down a Chitauri soldier.
Peter shook his head next to him. "I'm not entirely sure. Maybe it just grew a lot because it developed so well."
"Hmm?" Steve looked at Peter with confusion.
Mid-Air
"Oh no~ Are they filming King Kong?" Rhodey asked Tony.
Tony stared at the Shadow Behemoth. "Who knows."
Rooftop
"Ugh..." Barton groggily opened his eyes.
"Hey, buddy, how do you feel?" Natasha asked. She supported Barton with her left hand and kept her right hand behind her, holding a weapon, just in case Barton suddenly attacked.
"I feel like I had a dream," Barton told Natasha.
Natasha breathed a sigh of relief. "Glad you're finally awake. Get up."
Barton took Natasha's hand, shaking his head as he stood up. "What happened?"
"It's hard to explain right now." Natasha looked up at the wormhole in the sky, and Barton followed her gaze.
"Here's your gear." Natasha handed Barton his bow and also gave him a new quiver.
"Thanks." Although Barton didn't fully understand what had happened, this was clearly not the time for explanations.
Street Corner
"Haa!"
"Hulk!"
Thor utilized his thunder power, working with the Hulk to clear out many Chitauri invaders.
"Nice work, Hulk," Thor said, raising his fist, wanting a fist bump with the Hulk.
To his surprise, the Hulk, breathing heavily, threw a punch. Bang! He sent Thor flying.
"Hmph!" The Hulk snorted, and another Chitauri Leviathan charged at him. Without a word, the Hulk flexed his legs, jumped up, and raised his hands high, ready to smash the Leviathan.
The Chitauri Leviathan opened its mouth, and the Hulk flew right into its belly.
"Hulk!" Thor shouted, getting up and dusting himself off.
Boom! Bang! Rumble!
Strange noises came from inside the Chitauri Leviathan's body. The Leviathan swayed mid-air, then crashed into a tall building.
Boom!
The Hulk burst out through the Leviathan's back, holding a red and blue shield with a star on it.
"Hulk!" The Hulk beat his chest, showing off his strength, then tossed the shield high into the air. In an instant, the shield vanished from sight.
Thor swung his hammer, flew up, and said, "I'm going to check somewhere else." Whoosh! Thor flew away.
"Hmph~" The Hulk looked left and right. Just as he was about to find something to smash, he heard a shout coming from Stark Tower.
"I am a god!"
"Roar!" The Hulk quickly leaped up, bouncing between the high-rises, heading toward the Stark Tower rooftop.
Inside Stark Tower
"Truly weak mortals." Loki looked out the window at the panicked crowd below, his tone laced with deep contempt.
Just then, Loki spotted the green blur in front of him and immediately rolled backward.
Clang!
The Hulk smashed through the window glass and stood before Loki, breathing heavily and glaring at him.
"What? Have you also come to worship a god?" Loki opened his arms and smiled.
"Roar!" Loki was answered by the Hulk's deafening roar, which ruffled Loki's long hair.
Loki waved his right hand to clear the air. "Savage mortal."
The Hulk immediately charged at Loki. He was going to smash this green bug.
"Hmph~" Loki calmly picked up the Scepter, aimed at the Hulk, and fired a laser blast.
The laser struck the Hulk's chest, forcing him to stop. The Hulk touched his chest, then looked at Loki.
Loki, seeing the Hulk was unharmed, started to look less composed. Panicked, he fired several more laser blasts, but none could harm the Hulk in the slightest.
The Hulk powered through Loki's attacks and stood right in front of him. Before Loki could react, the Hulk backhanded him, sending him flying into the wall. A web-like crack immediately appeared in the wall.
Clang! The Scepter dropped to the floor.
"How dare you..." Before Loki could finish, the Hulk punched him again. Bang! The wall, unable to withstand the Hulk's power, collapsed.
The Hulk was about to follow up when an angry Loki stood up and shouted, "Enough! Savage!"
"I AM A GOD!" No sooner had Loki finished speaking than the Hulk grabbed him by his legs, lifted him up, and began violently slamming him repeatedly against the floor.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Loki lay in the smashed crater, stunned and wide-eyed, staring up at the ceiling.
"Hmph~ What a weak god." The Hulk turned away with a look of disdain. Smashing this so-called "rookie god" was not as satisfying as taking down a few more Chitauri Leviathans.
Watching the Hulk disappear from his sight, Loki roared in frustration, "No!"
"No need to be upset. I'll just take this Scepter for now, shall I?" Silas, who hadn't appeared on the battlefield until now, suddenly materialized and picked up the Scepter that had fallen to the floor.
"You~" Loki recognized Silas. He had seen Silas while keeping an eye on Thor earlier.
Silas smiled at Loki and prepared to leave with the Scepter, but Loki grabbed his left leg.
"What exactly do you want? You seem to know things?" Loki felt that Silas must be privy to some secrets.
Silas pulled his leg free from Loki's grasp. "You don't need to worry about it. Just take care of your own business, right, Loki?"
With that, Silas left. Loki slowly propped himself up, staring at Silas's retreating back, lost in thought.
"Loki!" Thor flew in, saw Loki's state, and rushed to help him up, asking with concern, "Are you alright?"
"I'm perfectly fine! I don't need your help." Loki was in a terrible mood. He had been slammed, his Scepter was taken, and he had been humiliated by a string of mortals. Loki felt his dignity was completely shattered, his honor as a god trampled upon by those he called "mortals."
"Once this is over, I'll take you back to Asgard. Don't worry, I'll ask Father to forgive you," Thor said, smoothing Loki's hair.
