Chapter 123 - Chapter 123: The Nuclear Missile Arrives

Chapter 123: The Nuclear Missile Arrives

"The Scepter is mine." Silas carefully examined the Scepter, looking at the blue glowing spot, which was the Mind Stone.

Gazing at the beam of light on the roof of Stark Tower, Silas prepared to shut down the Tesseract. If he succeeded, he would surely gain a lot of Justice Points.

Roar~!

The Chitauri invaders seemed to realize something, as five Chitauri Leviathans flew toward Silas.

"Quantity isn't necessarily better," Silas said, his eyes flashing with lightning. Boom! Laser beams shot from his eyes. Silas jumped up, spun around mid-air, and the laser beams sliced across the bodies of the five Chitauri Leviathans. For a moment, it was as if time froze, and then the nearby Leviathans were cut open like cakes.

Silas pointed the Scepter at the Chitauri Leviathans. "Bang!"

Boom! Crash! The five Chitauri Leviathans exploded and began to fall toward the ground.

Big Black and Little Black on the ground were already ready. They opened the entrance to the Shadow Realm, which was as big as a soccer field, and took in the debris of the Chitauri Leviathans.

"We'll be busy this time," Little Black said, laughing at the wreckage of the Leviathans. To him, these were invaluable experimental materials.

"Uh... actually, I think those brothers are pretty cool," Big Black said, looking enviously at the coffin-carrying Shadowkhan.

Slap!

Little Black hit Big Black on the head with two fingers. "We take science seriously. Remember, only science can defeat science."

"I feel like you make a lot of sense, Little Black, but I don't quite understand," Big Black said, scratching his head awkwardly.

"It's alright, Big Black. I'll make you smarter," Little Black said, stroking Big Black's head. He had been too harsh on Big Black before, and now he needed to compensate him.

Big Black looked up at Little Black. He had a bad feeling that Little Black was plotting something sinister.

Stark Tower Rooftop

"This is going to be a major revolution!" The Doctor exclaimed maniacally, embracing the strong wind on the rooftop.

"Assuming you live to see it," Silas said, crouching on the edge of the rooftop, holding the Scepter.

The Doctor pulled a pistol from his coat. "You don't understand anything..."

"Hulk!" The Hulk leaped over from somewhere, grabbed the Doctor, threw him down, and then turned to look at Silas.

"Actually, we're not enemies," Silas said, sensing the Hulk's hostility. After all, the Hulk had a strong memory of him.

Splat!

The Hulk tore off a length of metal pipe and slowly walked toward Silas. "Hulk... know you."

"No, I don't think that's a good memory, at least not for you." Silas prepared to run. He was no match for the Hulk right now.

"Roar!" The Hulk roared and charged at Silas, throwing the metal pipe.

Silas leaned back, dropping off the side of the rooftop. The Hulk immediately leaped after him.

"Bye-bye~" Silas said, hanging upside down from the edge of the rooftop. The Spider-Man's wall-crawling ability was quite useful. The Hulk watched helplessly as Silas evaded him, reaching out but failing to grab Silas, and then falling himself.

"I guess I could still fight the Hulk," Silas thought. His brain is not on the same level as mine.

Silas went to the Tesseract, and just as he was about to shut it down, Tony flew over, seemingly out of nowhere. "Wait! There's a nuclear missile heading here right now. The wormhole cannot be closed yet."

"Whose brain-dead decision was that?" Silas stopped his hand. Because of his involvement, the Battle of New York was much easier than it should have been.

"I'm not sure, but clearly his brain was not only water-logged but also mixed with cheese sauce," Tony said, landing in front of Silas.

"I bet it was expired cheese sauce," Rhodey flew in as well.

Immediately after, Natasha, Barton, Steve, Peter, and Thor, along with the recently fallen Hulk, all gathered there.

"Where's Loki?" Tony asked. The main culprit couldn't have escaped.

Thor spread his empty hands. "With my hammer, he can't run far."

Below

"Agh!" Loki struggled desperately, unable to get up. "That savage's fault."

Rooftop

"What should we do now? I heard a big one is coming," Natasha asked, frowning.

"I don't know. Does anyone have a plan?" Steve asked, looking around at everyone. This was no longer an individual fight; if the missile hit, no one would escape.

Everyone except for the calm and collected Silas. After all, he could drag Peter, Uncle Ben, Aunt May, and Misty's family into the Shadow Realm when the nuclear missile arrived.

"I have an idea. Throw the nuclear missile in there," Tony said, opening his faceplate and pointing at the spatial wormhole in the sky.

"How do we throw it in?" Steve asked further.

Tony let out a breath. "I can fly. I'll take the nuclear missile in."

"No, that's too dangerous," Steve shook his head.

"It's the only way right now," Tony insisted. Aside from him, no one else could do it.

Steve looked at Tony's determined eyes. "We'll wait for you to come back before we close the wormhole."

"I remember, Destiny, don't you have a Shadow Realm space?" Peter suddenly turned and asked Silas. To avoid revealing their identities to the group, they referred to each other by their vigilante names, except when alone.

"My space requires a shadow medium, and it needs to be large enough to hold a nuclear missile," Silas replied.

"What is the Shadow Realm?" Steve asked, confused.

Tony interjected, "Don't worry about that right now. My plan is the safest." Tony had calculated the current energy levels via J.A.R.V.I.S. If Silas's plan failed and the missile detonated, no one would survive. If the missile was sent into the wormhole, Tony could still barely manage to fly back, but he could guarantee that the missile would go in.

"Hulk can," the Hulk grunted.

"I know, big guy," Natasha said, patting the Hulk's massive arm.

"I don't have Mjolnir, so I can't fly, although I remember thinking I could fly without it," Thor said on the side.

Barton, seeing the Chitauri army gathering around them, drew his bow. "No matter what, let's deal with the immediate problem first."

"Avengers Assemble!" Steve shouted, picking up his shield.

Everyone was inspired by this phrase, taking up an aggressive stance, ready to fight.

"Oh~ Strictly speaking, I'd like to point out that I am not an Avenger," Rhodey said, his large shoulder gun rising.

"Uh... me neither," Peter added.

Silas shrugged. "Me neither."

"I think this is not the time to be hung up on that phrase, gentlemen," Natasha said, exasperated.

"Fine, Avengers Assemble!" Peter and Rhodey shouted simultaneously.

Rhodey quietly added, "Honestly, I feel so embarrassed saying that. It sounds a bit stupid."

"If we survive this, I'll buy you all barbecue," Tony said, scanning the countless Chitauri forces approaching.

Thor took the Scepter from Silas, using it as a temporary weapon. "Barbecue? That sounds wonderful."

"I hope it's delicious," Steve said.

"Charge!" The final battle was about to break out.
